This was the difference in a father’s love.

Knock, knock, knock. Someone knocked on the door.

“Don’t bother me,” Jin Luoluo had long warned the maids not to disturb her when she was angry.

“Daughter, it’s me.”

Master Jin’s sneaky voice drifted in through the crack of the door.

Jin Luoluo jumped off the bed and flung the door open angrily.

“What are you here for? Aren’t you busy being the Emperor’s future in-law and accepting congratulations?”

Master Jin was dressed in festive red, yet there wasn’t a trace of joy on his face.

He suddenly sighed, his chubby hand gently resting by her hair as he stroked her head with affection.

“Luoluo… do you really think your father is that kind of person? I’ve already prepared everything for you to run away. Leave quickly.”

“What do you mean?” Jin Luoluo was stunned.

Tears welled up in Master Jin’s old eyes.

He could part with everything—but the one thing he couldn’t bear to part with was this daughter.

How could he joke with her happiness?

“I don’t want you to marry someone you don’t love. And that Third Prince brings misfortune to his wives—who knows if he’ll harm you too? How could I bear to let you marry him? Go now, my daughter. While it’s still dark, leave the capital immediately.”

Jin Luoluo’s eyes reddened, her heart aching as tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.

She finally understood his intentions.

“So today, you deliberately acted happy in front of them, and even held a banquet to celebrate—just to cover things up and let me escape… Dad, I misunderstood you. You’re so good to me, and I even called you a dead fat man… I’m so terrible. You’re the best father in the world.”

“You are my most precious treasure. Of course I won’t let you suffer. Go now.”

Jin Gungun was also reluctant to part with his only daughter.

But compared to letting her marry into the royal family, it was better to let her leave.

“But what about you, and First Mother, Second Mother, and Third Mother? What if the Emperor blames you…”

It wasn’t that she hadn’t thought about running away—she just feared implicating her family, which made her hesitate.

“Everything I did today shows that I’m a greedy merchant chasing wealth, willing to sell my daughter for status. They won’t suspect that I helped you escape. They’ll only think you ran away on your own because you didn’t want to marry—and they won’t blame us.”
