“Jin Luoluo? Why does this girl keep haunting us like a ghost?” the Emperor muttered, supporting his forehead. Just hearing her name gave him a headache.
Why was it her again? Ever since the last time she had threatened him into releasing her father and granting her an immunity token, the Emperor had realized this future daughter-in-law was a cunning little trickster.
He was already starting to regret issuing the imperial decree for the marriage. Somehow, it felt like the one who had kicked an iron plate wasn’t his son—but himself.
He had a strong intuition that once Jin Luoluo married into the royal family, she would turn the entire palace upside down. And he still wanted to live a few more years.
“But this time, she’s done something that pleases me. You should all thank her properly. She must have given you identical clothes to encourage harmony among you brothers. Just don’t mention anything related to her in front of me again—I’m getting old and can’t handle the stress. I don’t want to meddle in you young people’s affairs. Whatever grudges you have with each other, settle them yourselves—don’t bother me.”
Better to make things clear with his sons now, lest Jin Luoluo fail to outmaneuver them and come back to threaten him again with his own embarrassing secrets.
Xiao Che’s face darkened. He had thought his father would scold Jin Luoluo for improper behavior, but instead, the Emperor was telling them to thank her. That damned woman clearly had ulterior motives.
Now that the Emperor had made it clear he wouldn’t intervene, Xiao Che would just have to teach her a proper lesson himself.
After court was dismissed, Xiao Yu, Xiao Che, and Xiao Yan each took the reins handed to them by their attendants and mounted their horses at the same time, all looking eager and impatient.
Xiao Luo, sitting in his wheelchair, chuckled lightly. “Are you all going to settle accounts with Jin Luoluo?”
“I want her to give me an explanation. She’s wounded my pure and innocent heart,” Xiao Yu said, recalling her smiling face from yesterday, which now made his teeth itch with frustration.
“I’ll make her understand the consequences of playing tricks on me,” Xiao Che said coldly. Yesterday’s ridiculous “rock music” and today’s deception—old and new grievances combined made him want nothing more than to catch Jin Luoluo and give her a harsh lesson.
“As for me, since she also gave me clothes, I’ll go join the fun,” Xiao Yan said. He was more curious about her true intentions.
Xiao Luo looked at the three of them with sympathy, composed and leisurely. With a cheerful smile, he kindly advised, “You’re going to settle scores—just make sure you don’t end up being outplayed instead. I have a feeling you’re all about to have another round of bad luck. Enjoy it!”
