The 7th floor of the hotel was empty.
Zhao Chaoran felt a little guilty at first, but the farther he walked, the more confident he became.
Knock.
He knocked briefly.
The door of 714 opened by itself.
After the kidnapper leader sent the message, Yin Wenshan began releasing ghostly aura steadily, like a silent humidifier.
The violent ghost energy in the film city gradually gathered toward the hotel.
The unlucky ghost curled up in a corner of the bed under his little blanket. This aura made him feel even worse than when Yin Wenshan had gone berserk before.
Yue Qinyao had been hanging on the door, diligently keeping the kidnappers blinded, but even she couldn’t stand it anymore.
This ghost smelled too bloody.
If she kept inhaling it, she’d get work-related injuries.
So she retreated to the bedroom, slapped the kidnappers a few times with her hair, then hid in the bedside cabinet, peeking through the drawer gap.
Xie Jixing summoned Wan Liangjin again and set up a barrier around the bedroom, leaving only a thin crack for Yin Wenshan to “fish” ghosts.
With his hands in his vest pockets, Yin Wenshan stood gracefully and continued releasing aura into the living room.
A veteran “fishing-type” ghost.
Extremely good at luring.
Worth modern “seductive beauties” studying for half a year.
After Yue Qinyao left, the ghost maze in the living room disappeared.
But the four kidnappers were huddled in fear and didn’t notice.
Suddenly, the dark ceiling light flickered.
Zzz—crack—zap—
With the sound of electricity, the room brightened and dimmed.
“M-Mom…” The most timid one shuffled back and sat on another man’s hand.
“Are you looking for death?!” the man whose hand was crushed exploded and punched him in the back of the head.
Over a minor collision, the two started fighting violently, rolling on the floor. Punches landed hard, and blood soon appeared.
Hot blood splattered onto the other two.
Smelling it, they seemed to turn into sharks. Their darkest desires were awakened.
They only wanted to destroy.
To tear everything apart.
Another man wiped his face and joined the brawl.
Watching his three subordinates fight, the leader finally regained some clarity.
Something was wrong.
They weren’t good people, but they’d done many jobs together. They’d argued before, yet never fought like this.
It was the room.
This haunted room amplified their inner evil.
If this continued, all three might die here.
After thinking for a moment, the leader joined the fight.
He knew some martial arts. After taking a few hits, he subdued them.
They had brought plenty of rope.
He tied their hands and feet, then bound them back-to-back together.
Just after finishing, he heard a clear knock.
The dull sound was like a punch to his temple.
His remaining rationality shattered.
Holding the syringe, he crept over.
He discovered that the chain lock had somehow been opened.
Even the main door wasn’t fully closed.
The person outside only knocked once and didn’t continue. Facing the narrow crack in the door, no one made the first move.
The ghostly aura inside the room grew thicker and thicker. It was likely that Kurihara had reached his complete form.
Yin Wenshan withdrew the small trace of ghost energy he had released. Xie Jixing completely closed the barrier. One human and two ghosts stayed inside to watch the show—and even took out several packs of snacks.
“Wow, they’re fighting so fiercely. Why are they all tied up like triangular rice dumplings? And they’re even headbutting each other.”
Yin Wenshan’s eyesight wasn’t good, so he could only listen to the live commentary. He cautiously tried a slice of Zhou Hei Ya–flavored potato chips.
“Whoa, now they’re turning their heads and spitting at each other. Why are they so violent?”
These “potato chips” were quite interesting. Yin Wenshan leaned over again to grab a few more and sighed softly.
“I really want to see it too…”
When the door was opened and there was still no movement inside, Zhao Chaoran took out the electric baton he had specially brought with him. He turned the current to maximum and carefully pushed open the door.
The door creaked as it slowly swung inward. Zhao Chaoran nervously raised the baton.
Under the dim hallway light, his attacking stance formed a silhouette. Hidden behind the bathroom door, the kidnapper leader raised a syringe and lunged at Zhao Chaoran, aiming for his neck.
“Hiss!” The spectators in the bedroom sucked in a breath.
Yin Wenshan grew anxious.
“What happened? What happened?”
But the baton was longer.
At the moment the syringe pierced toward Zhao Chaoran’s neck, the electric baton struck the kidnapper’s stomach first.
The powerful current made the man convulse violently. He loosened his grip and collapsed to the floor, twitching.
Zhao Chaoran yanked the syringe from his neck and threw it aside. Looking down coldly, he said, “You dared ambush me? Looking for death!”
He kicked the door shut, locked the chain, then squatted down and jabbed the baton into the man’s waist again.
The convulsions grew worse, foam spilling from the man’s mouth. Only then did Zhao Chaoran stand up in satisfaction and kick him into the living room.
He didn’t notice that violent resentment not belonging to him was surging in his chest.
“You want to kill him.”
A voice echoed around him from nowhere.
“You are me. You want to kill them. Kill them all.”
Zhao Chaoran’s expression twisted. He picked up the syringe and stared darkly at the kidnappers.
“I’m going to kill you. I’m going to kill all of you.”
The leader was still trembling. He looked up fearfully and begged, “Boss… I was hired by you… we’re on the same side…”
But Zhao Chaoran seemed not to hear him. He raised the syringe high and tilted his head with a creepy smile.
“I’m going to kill you!”
He stabbed toward the man’s neck.
At the same moment, Xie Jixing called the police.
Kurihara’s ghost had already possessed Zhao Chaoran and was still harming people. This was a huge merit opportunity—worth harvesting.
Xie Jixing picked up Wan Liangjin and walked over to Yin Wenshan.
“Your turn, or mine?”
Yin Wenshan took the copper-coin sword, spun it twice, and brushed his fingers along the blade.
“It’s a good sword. But I still can’t see him.”
Perfect chance!
Yue Qinyao floated out of the drawer shyly.
“If… if you don’t mind, I can lend you my eyes…”
Yin Wenshan turned and smiled faintly at her.
“Aren’t you afraid I won’t give them back?”
Ahhh—illegal!
Yue Qinyao clutched her chest. Her heart must be racing!
Then she remembered—she didn’t have a heartbeat anymore.
Gradually, Yin Wenshan’s vision cleared.
The first thing he saw was the girl in wedding robes beside him.
She looked about sixteen or seventeen, with black hair pinned up by a silver hairpin. Her delicate face held a pair of empty eyes.
Those eyes should have been lively—but now he was using them.
He gently patted her head.
“Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of them and return them afterward.”
Yue Qinyao smiled like a lovestruck idiot.
“Hehe… it’s okay if you use them longer…”
Yin Wenshan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Xie Jixing made a cheering gesture.
“Teacher Yin, beat him up!”
He opened the barrier. Yin Wenshan flew out with Wan Liangjin.
Two powerful ghost energies collided.
Zhao Chaoran suddenly looked up.
“Yin Wenshan?”
“So you finally stopped hiding and came out to die.”
Yin Wenshan raised his sword silently.
“Why are you holding a toy?” Zhao Chaoran laughed. “You think that can hurt me?”
Xie Jixing snorted. That thing cost over a million—how dare you call it a toy?
Blue flames burst from the blade.
Only then did the spirit inside Zhao Chaoran sense danger.
Black smoke burst out of his head, forming a giant shadow.
Freed from possession, Zhao Chaoran collapsed.
The shadow laughed wickedly.
“Defeated loser! I’ll devour you tonight!”
Yin Wenshan charged.
“Basement Yin Wenshan is dead. I am now Niu-Hulu Wenshan!”
(Lines from a drama Yue Qinyao had been watching.)
With his strength restored and Wan Liangjin’s support, Yin Wenshan fought fiercely.
More importantly, he’d learned shameless tactics.
He sliced off pieces of ghost energy like sashimi and stuffed them into his mouth.
Bit by bit, he ate them.
To him, Kurihara now looked like a steaming Northeast hotpot—rich, sticky, and delicious.
Nutritious and easy to digest.
Kurihara tried to flee.
Xie Jixing wouldn’t allow it.
“Teacher Yin, eating alone makes you fat! Save some for everyone!”
The barrier opened.
Yue Qinyao’s hair bound the ghost.
Yin Wenshan pierced its forehead.
The shadow burst like a balloon.
Xie Jixing collected the remaining energy.
Yin Wenshan returned, burping.
“Burp.”
Too much midnight snack.
Xie Jixing packed up happily.
The unlucky ghost rushed back.
“Quick… the police are here!”
