HEIFEIGU -Chapter 2

Hated by the Entire Internet, Fixing the Entertainment Industry by Going Unhinged7 min read3 of 161

“Let’s welcome the performance guests of this segment—Summer Star!”

The host, Yu Xinghan, was a veteran with rich live-broadcast experience and great atmosphere control.

As soon as he finished his energetic opening, the atmosphere heated up.

The big screen showing live comments exploded.

【Here for Xiao Tian again. Another day healed by energetic Xiao Tian!】

【Xiao Tian’s performance was amazing!】

【Sunny Summer Prince 🌸☀️, Xia Letian—perfect at singing and dancing 🎤❤️】

【Ji Jin, keep moving forward! ✊】

After a wave of uniform, flashy comments, the tone suddenly changed.

【Has useless Xie Jixing quit yet?】

【Welcome to Xie Ma-Lou’s professional shaman dance show.】

Three vicious GIFs followed, all screenshots of Xie Jixing’s past performances—awkward and ridiculous.

Occasionally, a few noticed something different.

【Wait, is this Xie Jixing??】

【Who is this guy with a red mole under his eye? I need all his info in one minute.】

But they were quickly drowned out.

The unlucky ghost’s fragile heart shattered completely.

He didn’t want to see these dark histories anymore and floated to the corner, sulking.

The host and audience felt awkward too. The venue fell strangely quiet.

But Xie Jixing seemed unfazed. He faced the camera calmly and even smiled sometimes at how funny the GIFs were.

“Thanks to Xia Letian for that wonderful performance. As expected of Summer Xing’s dual ace,” Yu Xinghan smoothed things over. “Next is Ji Jin. What have you prepared today?”

Ji Jin took a monocle with a chain from his vest pocket and put it on, instantly enriching his look.

The moment he did, Xie Jixing caught a trace of displeasure on Xia Letian’s face.

He really didn’t want anyone stealing the spotlight.

Ji Jin pulled out a black top hat, lowered his voice, and said theatrically, “Welcome to the world of magic—magic!”

“Welcome!”

As Yu Xinghan spoke, only one spotlight remained on Ji Jin. He danced with the hat to the music.

The hired trolls started spamming:

【Ji Jin is so handsome, a refined villain magician.】

【That gold monocle is too hot!】

Fans followed, and the screen returned to normal.

Everyone focused on Ji Jin—except Yu Xinghan noticed that Xie Jixing had been coughing quietly and sounded hoarse.

An hour ago, his voice had been clear and powerful.

Worried, Yu Xinghan leaned over and whispered, “Is your throat okay? Can you still perform?”

Missing the stage was regrettable, but messing up live would be worse.

Xie Jixing understood and shook his head slightly.

“Alright.”

When the final ribbon flew out, Ji Jin bowed like a knight.

“Thanks to Magician Ji Jin…” Yu Xinghan was about to skip Xie Jixing and cue the next group.

Then Ji Jin picked up the mic again.

“I have something to say.”

Yu Xinghan frowned, but it was too late.

“For this show, Xie Jixing prepared for a long time. His performance will definitely be wonderful. I hope you’ll give him this chance.”

What a perfect stab.

Now neither the show nor Xie Jixing could back out.

So vicious.

Yu Xinghan quickly recovered and looked at Xie Jixing worriedly. “So, what have you prepared?”

Xie Jixing lifted his eyes and glanced at Ji Jin. “Then… I’ll do magic too.”

Magic?

Ji Jin’s hired trolls were already spamming:

【Monkey dancing! Duck-voiced singing! Xie Jixing quit!】

After a few moments, this guy actually said he was going to perform magic.

Weren’t you supposed to sing and dance?

The paid trolls were stunned on the spot.

“Alright, then let’s invite Xie Jixing to bring us a wonderful magic performance,” Yu Xinghan quickly picked up the conversation and asked cautiously, “Do you need any props?”

Xie Jixing pointed at the black top hat in Ji Jin’s hands. “You mean the kind with a button inside that sprays out streamers when you press it?”

“No need.”

“What I’m going to perform is real magic, not some fake little trick.”

Yu Xinghan: …

Everyone on site: …

Ji Jin ground his teeth so hard that he wrinkled the brim of the hat.

Since the program was changed at the last minute and hadn’t been rehearsed, there were no auxiliary setups on stage. The lights were blazing, even the corners were clearly visible. There was no atmosphere at all, and no room for tricks.

Everyone was waiting for Xie Jixing to embarrass himself.

He slowly walked to the center of the stage and pointed at the table by the edge.

“Then I’ll stand here and bring that cup of milk tea over.”

【Wait, why does Xie Jixing suddenly seem kind of charming?】

【Telekinesis? Don’t screw it up!】

【If that milk tea moves, I’ll kneel and call him grandpa on the spot.】

【Is Xie Monkey scared he’ll mess up singing and dancing again, so he thinks anyone can do magic?】

The barrage was full of mocking comments, but Xie Jixing ignored them. He focused on poking at the unlucky ghost squatting in the corner drawing circles.

“Stop sulking. Get up and cause trouble.”

The unlucky ghost stiffly turned around, staring at him with hollow eyes.

“This performance depends on you. Go bring that milk tea over.”

To let the ghost touch physical objects, Xie Jixing painfully burned 1,000 yuan worth of merit.

The biggest sponsor was a milk tea brand. During the last break, they had just replaced the drinks on the table. They were still steaming.

The unlucky ghost carefully picked up one cup and floated toward Xie Jixing, holding it with both hands.

Yu Xinghan was the first to notice. He stared at Xie Jixing, then at the cup lifting off the table.

Wait… this kid actually has some skills?

Reacting quickly, he walked over with his cue card.

“Wow, amazing, everyone!”

He waved the card around the floating cup.

“I’m not a plant, okay? Look carefully—there’s no mechanism around it!”

“It’s really floating over!”

The other hosts also came to verify.

The other two members of Summer Star looked terrible, especially Ji Jin, who was practically grinding his teeth to pieces.

【It’s really moving! No tricks?】

【I thought it was fishing line, but it doesn’t look like it… What’s going on?】

【Did those haters who were jumping around earlier kneel yet?】

The haters fell silent. They were shocked too.

The milk tea floated toward Xie Jixing. If he caught it, took a big sip, and smiled happily, it would be both a successful magic trick and great advertising.

A perfect win-win.

But just as everyone thought that was how it would go, the cup brushed past Xie Jixing and flew toward Ji Jin.

Xie Jixing commanded the ghost.

“Pour it on Ji Jin’s face.”

The ghost: ???

What? Did he hear that right?

“Pour it.”

Xie Jixing repeated.

The ghost pointed at himself, making the classic meme expression: Me?

“Hurry.”

Shocked, the ghost tried to reason with him for the first time.

“This might… probably… maybe… be hard to clean up…”

Xie Jixing raised an eyebrow.

“You’re already dead. Why do you care?”

…That made sense.

The ghost was convinced.

So, after witnessing a cup of milk tea fly through the air, everyone on-site and watching the livestream witnessed it being dumped straight onto Ji Jin’s face.

Not even a single pearl was left in the cup.

For advertising purposes, the brand had packed the drink with toppings—thick like eight-treasure porridge.

Dark brown liquid covered one lens of Ji Jin’s glasses. Clear coconut jelly hung from the chain.

His frilly European-style shirt was stuffed with boba, tea jelly, grass jelly, coconut pudding, and red beans, like a Christmas tree covered in gifts.

Amid gasps, no one noticed the empty cup gently fall to the ground, spin once, and face the camera with its logo.

The unlucky ghost, who had never done anything this outrageous while alive, was excited, thrilled, and worried. Black mist twisted into a rope as he floated over, rubbing it nervously.

Yu Xinghan, standing nearby, shivered from the cold yin energy and snapped back to reality.

This was… intense.

In all his years, he had never seen something he couldn’t smooth over like this.

While he was frantically thinking of what to say, someone else spoke first.

In a lazy, slightly hoarse voice:

“Sorry. My skills aren’t good enough. I messed up.”
