HLM -Chapter 770 Serious Alert

New Zealand wasn’t lacking in medicine; their medical industry was very advanced. However, drug regulation was extremely strict, and antibiotics were even more tightly controlled. Local community hospitals needed approvals and had to go through multiple levels of checks.

The reason Sunset Town lacked antibiotics was partly due to the influx of tourists.

The South Island had large temperature variations, and the seasons were the opposite of China. Many tourists would catch colds after arriving.

Since tourists spent a lot of money and effort to visit New Zealand, falling ill would reduce their experience. So Wang insisted that Doctor Yi treat patients as quickly and effectively as possible.

Doctor Yi had no choice but to use antibiotics—the ultimate weapon—so they were used quite quickly.

Wang Bo was just considering which official to call to get these medicines when Doctor Yi told him the issue had already been resolved. Conley had called his brother, and Conley Pharmaceuticals had taken their supply order.

“This is great. Connections matter everywhere,” Wang Bo thought with satisfaction.

Conley Pharmaceuticals was a powerful entity, holding over a quarter of New Zealand’s medical equipment market. Their real strength, however, was in pharmaceutical exports, controlling at least a tenth of the Australian market.

Conley was dedicated to maintaining justice and fairness as a police officer and did not participate in the operations of Conley Group. But after all, he was the heir apparent of the Conley family—a proper heir.

Because he didn’t compete for power within the group, all factions of Conley Group liked him. His eldest brother, the current general manager Paul Conley, had a particularly good relationship with him.

Having such a police officer in town was more helpful than opening another police station.

Another benefit of Conley’s presence was that Rosalie no longer pestered him.

At noon, Conley was preparing to go eat when a petite nurse in a snowy white uniform and red high heels came to the police station with a cheerful smile.

Juan came downstairs and, seeing her, asked excitedly, “Hi, Rosalie, what’s up?”

The little nurse swayed her slender waist and raised the lunchbox in her hands. “I’ve brought lunch—Brazilian barbecue and ice cream vegetable salad.”

“Exactly my favorite!” Juan exclaimed happily.

The nurse shrugged. “Sorry, this isn’t for you; it’s for Xiao Kang.”

Conley was surprised. “For me? Oh, thanks. I’m sure it’s delicious, but unfortunately, I’m lactose intolerant, so I can’t have ice cream.”

Lactose intolerance was relatively common among white people, so his comment wasn’t unreasonable.

Rosalie didn’t mind. “No worries, Xiao Kang. There’s other food you can try. I bet you’ll like my cooking.”

Charlie patted Juan, speaking pityingly: “Her cooking… have you ever tried it?”

Juan walked away, dejected.

Conley stopped him and smiled. “How about this—let’s eat together. You like Ms. Rosalie’s food, right? You can’t miss this chance.”

The nurse shrugged. “Alright, we’ll eat together.”

Juan tried to refuse, but seeing Conley’s sincere gaze, he felt embarrassed. “Thanks for the offer, but, buddy, I just remembered I have plans with Kidd.”

He only wanted to cry with Kidd, mourning their lost love.

Kidd was also going out to eat. Hearing this, he said, “Plans with who? Haha, I’m having lunch with Isa!”

The atmosphere became awkward. Wang, as the leader, stepped in to break the tension: “Why are you just standing there? Cops, follow me. We got a report—a murderer has been spotted!”

“What?! A serious case!” Conley immediately perked up, grabbed his work kit, and followed. Then he turned back. “Sorry, Ms. Rosalie, sorry Juan, I can’t have lunch with you. You two go ahead.”

The report came from a tourist from Hastings in the North Island named Radwin Colson. He was nervously standing by the road in a red Toyota SUV and waved as soon as the police car arrived.

Wang Bo got out of the car and asked gravely, “Mr. Colson, what happened? Can you explain in detail?”

“OK, no problem. Here’s the situation. I’m from Hastings, a small coastal town in the North Island…” the middle-aged white man began.

“Get straight to the point. We know Hastings,” Wang said.

“Alright. In April this year, a major case occurred there. A Vietnamese immigrant murdered his wife due to domestic violence. It was a huge case at the time, but the guy was very cunning and escaped. He hasn’t been caught yet…”

“And now you’ve spotted him? Are you sure it’s him?”

“Of course. His photo is in everyone’s phone in our community. The police asked us to recognize him and watch out for him.” Colson pulled out his phone and showed a photo.

Wang Bo glanced at it. The man had a slightly flat nose, high cheekbones, dark skin—a typical Vietnamese appearance.

“Found him again?”

“Yes, right here in this restaurant. I’ve been following them carefully, just like Tucker Bone.”

“Tucker Bone? Who’s that?” Wang Bo asked curiously.

Conley explained, “A secondary character in Fatal Note, a close friend of the protagonist, very skilled at tracking and gathering evidence.”

Wang Bo had long forgotten the characters in that story.

Time for action. Wang Bo said, “Atulu, this restaurant has a back door. Block it. Uncle Bing, you and Conley stay outside. If he jumps out, take him down!”

“Gerald, Zhuang Ding, you two come with me.”

“Yes, sir!”

Conley hesitated. “Boss, should we scout first?”

“Of course. Entering means scouting,” Wang Bo replied.

With Gerald and Zhuang Ding, they entered. A waiter warmly greeted them: “Hi, Mayor, what would you like to order?”

“Two juices first.” Wang Bo subtly scanned the surroundings and then saw Chen Luoxian…

“Wang Bo, you’re having lunch here too?”

Wang blinked. “You guys?”

“Yes, the tour group arranged this Maori restaurant for lunch,” Chen Luoxian said cheerfully.

Colson, following them in, looked around anxiously. Gerald whispered, “Don’t do that; you’ll alert him…”

“There! It’s him!” Colson shouted, pointing at Chen Luoxian.

Chen Luoxian was startled. “Hi, what’s wrong with me?”

Wang Bo followed the direction Colson pointed and saw a dark-skinned middle-aged man next to Chen Luoxian, still eating meat from his bowl, unaware of anything.

Examining him closely, Wang Bo was a bit puzzled. He asked Colson, “You’re not joking, right? You mean this man?”

Colson nodded. “Yes!”

The man looked up in surprise. “What’s going on?”
