HLM -Chapter 1385 Playing Doctor

Happy Little Mayor 7 min read 1385 of 1443 1

Wang Bo felt a bit awkward for a moment.

Dale had also suffered from mouth ulcers before. Because children often lack sufficient vitamins and trace elements, they’re prone to this kind of condition. Back then, Dale also liked to swear. To teach her not to curse, Wang Bo scared her by saying that people who swear get mouth ulcers.

That was exactly how his own parents had scared him when he was young, and it really had cured his bad habit of swearing. So he used the same method on Dale.

The education worked very well—but Dale remembered it too well. She truly believed that swearing caused mouth ulcers, and that was how today’s situation came about.

There was no way for him to explain it. He took out his phone and called the veterinary station to ask what to do.

Little Wang pitifully shoved its head into his arms. Several mouth ulcers had grown on its tongue, and it hurt so much that it didn’t dare swallow its saliva, which kept dripping out of its mouth.

Seeing this, it obediently moved its head aside so the drool would fall onto the grass.

Wang Bo smiled and pulled its head back into his arms again.

It was still too early, and the veterinary station hadn’t opened yet. He could only call the hospital instead. They were all mammals anyway—mouth ulcers weren’t a big issue, and the hospital should be able to treat them too.

The community hospital had staff on duty 24 hours a day. As soon as his call went through, someone answered:

“This is Sunset Town Community Hospital. How can we help you?”

“Lisa? Oh, it’s me, the mayor. Which doctor is on duty right now?” Wang Bo asked.

The nurse replied, “Dr. Brook is—oh, wait a moment. Dr. Iguodala just arrived. Hi, Dr. Iguodala, the mayor needs some help.”

“What’s going on?” came the reply.

“Little Wang has mouth ulcers. Do you know how to treat that?” Wang Bo asked.

Doctor Iguodala sounded confused. “Huh? A liger with mouth ulcers? Can ligers even get mouth ulcers?”

Wang Bo said helplessly, “Obviously it can—it’s got them right now. What should we do?”

The doctor hesitated for a moment, then said, “Bring it over. I’ll take a look first.”

Wang Bo went to start the pickup truck and had Little Wang jump in. As a result, all the furry kids jumped up as well, crowding around Little Wang, looking like a bunch of loyal brothers ready to stick together through thick and thin.

Seeing this, Wang Bo laughed. He patted each of their heads in turn and said, “Good, that’s more like my good kids. We’re all going to the hospital together to get Little Wang treated.”

He felt that this bout of mouth ulcers might have something to do with Little Wang getting drunk a few days ago—maybe the alcohol had caused it. But it had already been several days, so his guess wasn’t very reliable either.

After driving to the community hospital, Wang Bo waved his hand. Little Wang and the others jumped down from the truck and swarmed toward him.

Dale spread her arms to block them and said, “Line up! You can’t just rush in like this. Come on—Little Wang goes first, then Zhuang Ding, Queen, Da Pang, Er Pang…”

Princess didn’t want to line up. Standing at the back, she was like a fluffy white cotton ball—once she queued, she couldn’t see anything.

The little girl smacked her lips and picked Princess up. “Alright then, behave yourself in my arms.”

A child nearby stared at the scene in shock. He was holding an ice cream and completely forgot about everything else, gawking at the furry kids with delight written all over his face.

Patients were coming in and out of the hospital, but there weren’t many people in the morning.

Seeing the furry kids lined up, a woman laughed and said, “Is this a pediatric checkup? Little Wang, you’re drooling—haven’t you eaten?”

The furry kids were local celebrities, and the townspeople all liked them very much.

Someone who was eating snacks handed something to Little Wang. Little Wang glanced at it, and its drool started flowing even faster.

Wang Bo waved his hand. “Stop crowding around. Little Wang is here to see the doctor. Come play with it again after it’s better.”

“What’s wrong with Little Wang?” someone immediately asked with concern.

“It’s nothing,” Wang Bo said. “Just mouth ulcers.”

“Even cats can get mouth ulcers?”

That question made Wang Bo very unhappy. Damn it, isn’t it suffering from them right now? Just because Little Wang was a hybrid, did that mean it should be kicked out of the cat family? Its parents were both top predators among felines, alright?

Once inside the hospital, he went straight to Doctor Iguodala’s consultation room. Zhuang Ding lay against the door and smacked the handle with its paw, pushing it open. The furry kids poured in all at once.

But there was someone inside. Doctor Iguodala was giving an injection to a child.

The kid was crying at the top of his lungs—louder than a baby. If a baby crying was like blowing a trumpet, then this little terror was pounding war drums.

With the door suddenly opening and a group of huge fluffy creatures rushing in, the child forgot to cry. He stared in amazement and exclaimed, “Zhuang Ding! Little Wang! Ah, and Da Pang and Er Pang too—and Commander, you’re all here!”

Doctor Iguodala quickly held the kid down and stuck the needle in.

“Ow ow ow! It hurts so bad! Waaah! Mom, I don’t want an injection! It hurts, it hurts, waaah!” The kid started howling again.

Zhuang Ding, Little Wang, and the others were badly frightened by the wailing. They immediately huddled together, staring in terror at the syringe in the doctor’s hand.

Doctor Iguodala calmly pulled out the needle and said, “What are you crying for? It’s already over—and it didn’t even hurt.”

“It hurt! It hurt a lot!” the kid yelled. “Waaah! Doctor, don’t pull the needle out yet—can we make a deal? If I don’t cry, can you let me touch Little Wang later…?”

“Sorry, it’s already out,” Doctor Iguodala said cruelly.

The kid cried out unwillingly, “Then… can you stick it back in?”

Wang Bo: “…”

The kid’s mom: “Get up right now, or I’ll beat you to death!”

Next it was Little Wang’s turn to see the doctor. Wang Bo told it to stick out its tongue, but Little Wang refused, timidly eyeing the syringe on the table.

Wang Bo put the syringe away and said, “Ah, come on, learn from Daddy—ah. Don’t worry, stick out your tongue. I won’t give you a shot. Just like me—ah.”

Commander said unhappily, “Ah, don’t copy. Ah, don’t copy!”

Wang Bo turned back and glared at it. “What do you mean by that?”

“Ah, don’t copy. Ah, Commander,” Commander said. “Ah, don’t copy Commander!”

Wang Bo was about to die of anger. “I wasn’t copying you! Little Wang, stick out your tongue!”

Doctor Iguodala shook his head. “It’s fine. Step aside—I’ll check its whole body first.”

As he spoke, he took out his stethoscope and moved it around on Little Wang, while his other hand kept feeling under its armpits, behind its legs, around its neck and ribs.

The little terror watched enviously from the side. “Mom, I want to be a doctor too! I want to be a doctor—then I can touch Little Wang whenever I want!”

“If you really become a doctor,” Wang Bo said casually, “you won’t just be able to touch Little Wang—you’ll be able to touch lots of girls too.”

The kid’s mom immediately blushed. “Son, we’re leaving.”

“No, Mom, I want to stay and watch,” the kid said proudly, twisting his head away.

His mom said, “Then don’t you want to be a doctor anymore? If you want to be a doctor, you have to go to school and study!”

The kid immediately turned around and left without hesitation.
