After the flowing banquet was over, the leftover dishes piled up like a small mountain.
Wang Bo asked, “Aren’t you going to pack some of this up to take home?”
Na Qingyang shook his head. “Am I bored out of my skull? Pack leftovers and carry them two hundred kilometers?”
Wang Bo said, “A lot of these dishes haven’t even been touched. How can you call that leftovers? Take some with you. We have a saying here—taking wedding banquet dishes brings good luck and helps you find your fate sooner.”
Na Qingyang replied, “No need. I’m choosing my fate right now, not looking for it. Sigh, you have no idea—my parents are arranging blind dates for me nonstop. They’re practically insane.”
Li Xing asked, “Are there more later?”
Na Qingyang yelled, “Of course there are, damn it! I bet they’ve scheduled them all the way to New Year’s Eve. Hopefully I’ll still have time to eat the reunion dinner!”
Su Dongdong looked at him with pity. “That’s tragic.”
“Tell me about it!” Na Qingyang said indignantly.
“Still more tomorrow and the day after?” Li Xing asked.
Hearing him keep bringing up blind dates, Na Qingyang grew wary. “What are you up to? Why do you care so much about my blind dates?”
Li Xing said, “Nothing. If you don’t have anything scheduled, you could stay and hang out. We’re all old classmates—how about going out to sea and fishing together?”
Na Qingyang curled his lips. “Fish my ass. Haven’t you fished enough around this town already? I’m not staying. You guys can hang out—I’m going back for blind dates. Tomorrow and the day after, too. More than one each day!”
Watching Na Qingyang drive off, Li Xing turned to the others. “So what do you all think?”
“I have to head back too,” Zhang Rui said. “I finally got home.”
Hou Haibo said, “Brother Xing, I’ll follow your lead. If you want to play here, I’ll stay and play with you.”
“Oh my, such deep affection,” Eva joked.
Hou Haibo said, “Getting married really changes people. Our mayor’s wife suddenly became so open. But it’s fine—say whatever you want. Brother Xing and I are totally in love!”
Li Xing said, “Get lost. Who’s in love with you? When I asked what you think, I wasn’t asking about fishing. I meant—does anyone want to go watch Brother A on a blind date with me? I’ve never experienced that before.”
As soon as he said that, the group who had been preparing to head home exploded with excitement:
“Holy crap, great idea! I’ve never seen that either!”
“Brother Xing, you’re such a jerk—but I like it, hehe.”
“Let’s go, let’s go. Let’s see how Brother A flirts on a blind date.”
Wang Bo asked, “When do we go?”
Song Jiashu stared at him in shock. “You’re going too? Hey, groom, can you not be so curious? Tonight we’re supposed to mess with you in the bridal chamber.”
Wang Bo glared at him fiercely. “Whoever dares enter my bridal chamber—I’ll break three of his legs!”
Eva said regretfully, “We should’ve brought Zhuang Ding and the others back. Too much going on with the wedding, so we didn’t bring them. Such a missed opportunity.”
Zhou Haojie said, “You messed with me before—this time I must get into the bridal chamber.”
Wang Bo said, “Fine then. God rains wisdom on everyone else, but you’re the only one holding an umbrella. Since you’re asking for death, don’t blame me. You dare to die, I dare to bury you. Come in tonight if you want.”
Eva said, “I know about this ‘raising hell in the bridal chamber’ thing, but your media says it’s a bad custom. I assume you’re all highly educated people, so you won’t do that, right?”
Su Dongdong nodded. “It really is a bad custom.”
Zhou Haojie said, “Either way, I’m not letting Wang Bo off easily tonight.”
That night, Wang Bo tried to lock the door as quickly as possible, but Zhou Haojie and the others started blasting music outside the window.
Left with no choice, Wang Bo opened the door. “Fine, you guys really aren’t afraid of dying. Huh? Why are there so many laptops?”
Everyone was holding a notebook computer. After coming in, Li Xing handed one to Wang Bo. “I bought them all. Come on—tonight we relive our college dorm days. We’re playing CS.”
Wang Bo was dumbfounded. “What did you say? CS?”
“Yeah—Counter-Strike. Reliving college life. That’s tonight’s version of messing with the bridal chamber,” Hou Haibo said. “Teacher Eva is right—messing with the bridal chamber is a bad custom. But reminiscing about college life definitely isn’t.”
Eva asked with interest, “CS? Counter-Strike? Then I’ll join too. I used to really like that game.”
“Sure,” Zhou Haojie said excitedly. “Wang Bo, move aside—let your wife test the firepower first.”
Wang Bo then watched as they scrambled for spots: some sitting on small stools with laptops hugged to their chests, some lying on the bed with laptops in front of them, others squatting on the floor with laptops on their knees.
Teams were divided—cops versus terrorists—starting on the classic snow map.
As soon as Eva spawned, Wang Bo saw her run straight ahead and pick up a gun—it was an MP5. He reminded her, “That gun’s no good. Too weak.”
Eva hugged the right-side snow path and sprinted forward. Someone popped out on the opposite side. She jumped onto a low wall and fired a short burst.
“Pa pa pa”—the figure dropped to the ground.
She jumped back down and crouched behind the wall. Someone ran up the middle snow path, perfectly entering her field of view. Another short burst from the MP5—another headshot.
“Damn it, I’m dead!” Zhou Haojie roared.
Hou Haibo sighed. “I died ages ago. Got killed the moment I stepped out.”
Eva moved forward and spotted someone crouching in the middle, holding a sniper rifle and carefully aiming down mid.
She walked behind him, switched to a knife, and slashed twice at his head.
Su Dongdong looked up. “What the hell? How did I get stabbed to death?”
Zhou Haojie looked at him with exasperation. “Damn it, Old Su, you’re still the same as in college! That’s a scope, not a microscope. Why’d you shove your whole head into it and never pull it back out?”
The cops won. Four versus four—one remaining terrorist was sprayed down by Li Xing with an M4A1.
Eva dropped the MP5 and picked up the terrorists’ AK-47. “Dear, what did you just say?”
Wang Bo chuckled. “Nothing. These little bitches are about to suffer.”
Switching from the MP5 to the AK, Eva became even more unstoppable. She still rushed the right side. Zhou Haojie and the others swarmed there, trying to gang up on her, but she kept jumping and firing—three corpses were left behind.
The last one, Su Dongdong, hugged his sniper rifle and hid in a corner. When Eva appeared, his face lit up. “I see you!”
“Boom! Boom!”
Someone ran over with a shotgun and blasted Su Dongdong into misery.
“This idiot is exactly the same as in college—only ever watches one direction,” Song Jiashu mocked.
“This is unbearable!” Zhou Haojie shouted angrily. “Everyone go right side and block him! Who the hell keeps running right?”
At the start of the next round, Eva quickly bought a grenade and ran to mid, throwing it out.
After the explosion, three death notifications appeared on the screen at once.
Eva shrugged at Wang Bo. “What do you call that? Feint east, strike west, right? I stopped falling for that back when I first played this game.”
Su Dongdong shouted, “Damn it, stop killing me! I’ll defect—okay?”
