HLM – Chapter 1055 The Princess’s Knights

Happy Little Mayor 6 min read 1055 of 1443 25

The snow fox’s unique skill of diving into snow to catch mice made it shine throughout the days before the snow fully melted.

The kea parrots were truly the type to “follow whoever feeds them.” These rascals abandoned Little Meng for several days, switching sides to follow the snow fox’s fluffy tail instead, acknowledging her as their new boss.

Little Meng was furious. It planned to teach the keas a lesson, but just then the weather cleared, the snow was swept away, and the keas could go back to catching possums on their own again.

So the thieving birds quickly returned to its side, once again recognizing Little Meng as their boss.

The snow fox princess never cared before whether she had underlings or not. But recently, every time she went out, a whole flock of birds flew ahead and around her like an honor guard. The feeling of being the center of attention was quite enjoyable. So when the keas defected, she was displeased.

The problem was—they were the Air Force, she was the Army. She couldn’t possibly exert the same absolute control over them as Little Meng.

After realizing the keas were no longer following her, the princess returned to the castle sulking.

Inside the castle, the Commander and Political Commissar parrots were bickering loudly, while Da Pang and Er Pang (the two chonky cats) were wrestling. Watching them, the princess suddenly had a new idea—maybe she could make them her little brothers (underlings).

The number might be a bit small, but better than nothing. She blinked her black, shiny eyes and immediately accepted this idea.

Now the problem was how to subdue them. The princess racked her brains, but her walnut-sized fox brain had no juice in it—she couldn’t think of any good plan.

Until Eva changed the bedding on the big bed, putting on a thick goose-down quilt. The quilt cover was white silk cotton—thick, soft, and looking exactly like snow.

Seeing this, the princess became excited. Snow… inside the house?! Why isn’t it cold? And why is it only on this one spot?

Again she strained her tiny brain, again she failed to understand. So she simply waited until nightfall. When the Commander, Commissar, and fat cat brothers ran into the bedroom, she perked up, hopped onto the bed, and prepared to use her tried-and-true method—the same technique she used to impress the kea flock—to subdue this new group of underlings.

Jumping onto the bed, she opened her mouth and let out several “ao ao—woo woo” calls.

The little guys didn’t know what she was doing. They turned their heads together to stare at her in confusion.

The princess shook her head, fluffing up her white fur to make herself look even more beautiful, then pushed off with all four legs—her body turning into a streak of snow-white light as she arced gracefully through the air…

“Thud!”

A muffled bang.

She crashed headfirst into the quilt—and bounced right back up.

She was stunned.

What happened? Why can’t I dive into the snow?!

The little guys were also stunned. What the hell is she doing?

Noticing their confusion, the princess immediately tried again—jumping, arcing, diving—only to be bounced up again!

Not only bounced—this time she hit so hard her nose and mouth stung.

Eva, who was folding clothes, noticed and looked over in surprise. “Sweetie, what are you doing?”

Wang Bo walked over, wrapped an arm around her, and smiled. “Maybe she’s trying to sharpen her face into a cone? She probably thinks the quilt is snow and wants to dive in. Come to think of it, foxes evolved cone-shaped faces so they could dive into snow, right?”

Eva playfully slapped his hand. “Behave. Sounds like you really like pointy faces.”

Wang Bo grinned. “No, I like your face. Come on, give me a kiss…”

Meanwhile, the little snow fox refused to accept defeat. She kept jumping up and getting bounced down, down then bounced up. The fat cats below looked terrified— Has this fox gone crazy? Is she trying to commit suicide by headbutting?!

After many attempts, the princess finally knocked herself dizzy. She turned to Eva, whimpering pitifully, stumbling over to seek comfort.

But when she got to the edge of the bed, she misstepped and fell off entirely. Thankfully, there was a carpet, so she didn’t get hurt.

But she had repeatedly crashed down and been bounced up, and now fallen again. Her confusion turned into frustration. She lay on the carpet, screeching angrily and slashing wildly with her paws.

Now it was the carpet’s turn to be confused: What did I do?! Why are you attacking me?!

Wang Bo and Eva hurried over. Eva picked the princess up. “What’s wrong, sweetheart? What happened?”

The Commander spread his wings and shouted, “Ah! Idiot beyond cure! Ah! No cure!”

The Commissar shrank back and whispered, “Scared me to death… scared me to death…”

The snow fox was utterly aggrieved. Once in Eva’s warm arms, she tried to burrow into her chest for comfort—but her head had grown too big, and she bounced right out again.

That pushed the princess to the brink. She flailed her little legs and slapped angrily at those two soft, round mounds.

Wang Bo broke into a cold sweat. Damn it, if she unsheathes her claws even a little, two slaps and my future kid won’t have milk to drink!

Eva fetched several pieces of roasted meat for the princess. The fox immediately stopped being upset—her fluffy white tail wagging as she hugged the meat and munched happily.

Once full, the princess still wanted to be the boss. She ran to Da Pang and Er Pang and called twice.

The fat cat brothers paused mid-fight, staring at her. Their eyes gradually changed—becoming wide and intense.

The princess thought her two calls had subdued them. Seeing them so obedient, she was delighted.

But the moment she turned around— Da Pang lunged, pressed her down on the bed, and sat on her like a dark cloud descending.

Er Pang immediately flipped Da Pang over. The princess, who had just escaped, had no time to celebrate—Er Pang pounced and pressed her down again, leaving only her long tail outside, wagging frantically.

Da Pang flipped Er Pang again.

Realizing something was wrong, the princess scrambled up and ran while crying out in panic.

Wang Bo was just about to reach second base with Eva, but the cry made him stop mid-motion. Eva pushed him off. “What happened now?”

Then they saw it— Da Pang pinning the princess under him. Er Pang flipping Da Pang and pinning the princess next. A chaotic cycle of “cat wants to mount fox.”

Wang Bo gasped. “Holy—are they trying to mount the princess?!”

Eva hurriedly grabbed the princess and hid her under the pillow. Her snow-white fur blended perfectly with the quilt—if not for her two black, beady eyes peeking out, she’d be invisible.

The Commander flapped his wings excitedly. “Ah! Ride the princess! Ah! Ride it!”

The Commissar glared at him, then flew up to the top of the tallest cabinet.

Under the pillow, the little snow fox trembled. Because outside, Da Pang and Er Pang were crying out in frustration—

Their voices were very explicit and very indecent.
