Gu Hua realized she was being carried into the bedroom. Inwardly, she thought: In broad daylight… doing that…?
That wouldn’t be good, right?
As the mistress of the household, she’d have no face left to meet anyone.
Mu Junyan set her down. Just as Gu Hua, already blushing, lifted her head to speak, he grasped her chin and sealed her lips.
The passionate kiss came down like a storm. Without saying a single word, Mu Junyan kicked the door shut with a bang and, still kissing her, pulled her deeper inside.
The distance wasn’t long, but Mu Junyan couldn’t help pressing her against the wooden wall several times, rubbing her fiercely before scooping her up again and falling with her onto the bed.
Pinning her beneath him, he tucked her loose hair behind her ear, cupped her face, and kissed her again—fierce and overwhelming.
While kissing her, his voice was low and laced with emotion.
“If I hadn’t rushed back, who knows what kind of trash like King Duan or King Sui would dare try to steal you.”
Gu Hua was kissed until she was dizzy and disoriented, completely unprepared for the giant mouthful of jealousy he just poured on her.
She wanted to laugh, but before she could even draw a breath, her lips were sealed again.
He gave her absolutely no chance to explain.
Gu Hua, helpless, could only give up.
Anyway, that King Duan and King Sui had already married other people.
But Mu Junyan wasn’t done. Releasing her lips, he stared at her. “Even that yellow-haired little brat has eyes on you. He’s been begging to get assigned to an external post in Southern Xinjiang. I taught him a lesson.”
Gu Hua blinked her innocent eyes.
“Who?”
That innocent expression—yet somehow attracting bees and butterflies everywhere—made him both angry and distressed.
Thankfully he hid her away early in the Duke Yong’s manor and used their official marriage status to suppress everything, or else the line of marriage proposals would be endless.
Mu Junyan stared at the watery glimmer in her eyes, paused, and again bit down on her lips without another word.
But she underestimated Mu Junyan’s hunger. The two were soon breathless, and things were about to get out of control. Gu Hua nearly suffocated before he finally let her go, her lips feeling swollen to bursting.
Gu Hua glared at him with misty eyes, her voice dry and hoarse. “Get up… it’s the middle of the day…”
Mu Junyan stared at his beloved wife’s stunning face, flushed and beautiful enough to make a man want to swallow her whole.
His gaze darkened as he rubbed his cheek against her soft one.
Her already full, delicate figure had become even more voluptuous after giving birth just a month ago.
Seeing him struggling like that, and knowing she still wasn’t allowed to resume marital relations, Gu Hua worried he would suffer. Gritting her teeth, her face burning, she whispered:
“If… if you want… then… then…”
Mu Junyan was, of course, desperate, but he valued her body far more.
He couldn’t bear to harm her—he could only take the edge off.
He pulled her tightly into his arms. “Let me hold you for a bit.”
One large palm pressed firmly onto her lower back, gently massaging it.
“You’ve worked hard. It’s all my fault, making you worry.”
Gu Hua pressed against his warm chest through their layered clothing, listening to his steady heartbeat.
Only now did she truly believe Mu Junyan had returned.
They were finally reunited.
“It’s okay. Even though we were thousands of miles apart, we were doing the same thing. Even though missing you hurt, my heart was always full. As long as I remembered that every bit of effort I made helped you succeed, I felt satisfied.”
“Good Hua’er… with a wife like you, what more could a man ask for?”
Mu Junyan lowered his head and kissed her earlobe, murmuring by her ear: “How long do I have to wait?”
Gu Hua blinked. “Hm? Wait for what?”
Mu Junyan, furious, opened his mouth to bite her again. She quickly begged for mercy:
“No—don’t leave marks! How am I supposed to meet people?”
“Then I’ll bite where no one can see.”
Saying so, he angrily pulled at her sash and kneaded her twice in revenge.
Gu Hua let out a soft gasp—and found she couldn’t take it either.
Mu Junyan felt himself losing control, so he hastily withdrew his hands and wrapped her clothes back around her.
“It’s all those two little brats’ fault for not being strong enough, making you go into early labor. When they grow up, I’ll teach them a lesson.”
“You dare!”
Gu Hua glared fiercely at him.
Mu Junyan buried his head into the crook of her soft, warm neck, inhaling her sweet scent as he complained:
“Now that you have sons, you don’t want your husband? Your husband is so wronged.”
Gu Hua was both angry and amused. She hugged his head. “Who gets jealous of their own children?”
Wrapped in each other’s arms, kissing occasionally, they shared everything that had happened over the months. Suddenly, hurried footsteps rushed toward the door.
Then—
Bang bang bang!
Shen Li’s cold, anxious voice sounded from outside:
“My Lord, Madam just gave birth prematurely. It is inappropriate to have intercourse. Please come out at once!”
Mu Junyan nearly exploded.
“Do I look like the kind of impatient fool who doesn’t know restraint?!”
Gu Hua couldn’t help smiling and teased: “Well, who told you to carry me in front of everyone and then slam the door shut? Of course people would think you were planning to… indulge in daytime passion.”
“Ugh! Don’t they know what kind of man I am? I’ve abstained for decades! I finally have a wife, and we’ve been separated for so long—don’t I deserve to be affectionate a little?!”
Gu Hua shoved him lightly. “Get up. If you don’t, with Shen Li’s personality she’ll definitely kick the door down.”
Mu Junyan was already up, straightening his robes with a black expression.
“Looks like I need to discipline the household rules.”
Gu Hua couldn’t stop laughing. She got up to fix her clothes and called outside:
“Shen Li, the lord is talking with me.”
The knocking abruptly stopped.
After waiting a long while, once Mu Junyan and Gu Hua were fully dressed, Shen Li’s voice came again:
“Madam, I brought your medicine. Please drink it.”
Gu Hua replied loudly: “Alright.”
Then she turned to Mu Junyan, amused. “She’s really worried about you.”
“Hmph. I’ll marry her off first.”
Gu Hua stepped forward to straighten his collar. “Sure. But first we must settle Zhilan and Zhou Chunyu’s matter.”
Mu Junyan paused. “You know about it?”
“Mhm.” Gu Hua nodded.
“I think… even if Zhilan might not experience certain womanly joys or have children with Zhou Chunyu, if the two love each other and stay together, it’s still a blessing.”
Mu Junyan nodded. “I don’t know how to handle such matters. I’ve advised Zhou Chunyu before, but he always feels he owes Zhilan. He’d rather guard her as his dearest sister.”
“Don’t worry. Leave it to me. If they truly want to be together, I’ll help them. If not, Zhilan deserves better.”
“Alright.”
“I just don’t know when Zhou Chunyu will return.”
“He should arrive in about a month.”
Gu Hua nodded.
Mu Junyan took her hand and opened the door—right into Shen Li’s cold little face, holding a steaming bowl of medicine.
Mu Junyan had never felt so much like a coward in his life.
His neck shrank instinctively, and awkwardly he coughed, releasing Gu Hua’s hand.
“Madam, I’ll handle some matters first. I won’t be back for lunch. I’ll return for dinner to accompany you and Mother.”
Gu Hua nodded gently. “Alright.”
Shen Li said flatly, “Tonight is also not allowed.”
Mu Junyan and Gu Hua froze, both staring at her.
Mu Junyan asked inexplicably, “Why not?”
Gu Hua immediately understood and covered her smile with her sleeve. “You can eat dinner.”
Mu Junyan’s face turned bright red. He pointed at Shen Li furiously. “You just wait—there will be a line of people proposing marriage to you!”
Now Shen Li was stunned. “Propose… what?”
Gu Hua quickly took the bowl from her hands. “Don’t mind him. Let me drink the medicine.”
Mu Junyan snorted angrily and swept out.
