By this time, Li Lang and his group had already left the gates of the Art Academy.

Li Lang was still cursing nonstop.

“Fuck! We still didn’t find that kid. How the hell is this university so damn big?”

One of the crew-cut men was carrying a long object wrapped in a jacket. He scratched his head and said, “No kidding. It’s freaking huge. Brother Lang, why don’t you call him and ask where he is?”

Li Lang shot him a glare.

“What am I supposed to say? Ask him where he is so I can go over there and beat the shit out of him?”

The bald Hou Biao curled his lips.

“Damn this crappy school. They won’t even let cars in. My legs are about to fall off from all this walking.”

Li Lang pulled his car keys out of the small pouch tucked under his arm and walked gloomily toward the car parked by the roadside. The other four followed behind him.

“Motherfucker! All of you stop right there!”

A thunderous shout suddenly rang out.

A tall, burly bald man came charging out of the school, a shovel clutched in his hands.

Li Lang froze.

Who the hell is this guy?

He didn’t know Wu Xiaozhou.

The last time Li Lang and his men had come here, Wu Xiaozhou hadn’t seen them. The night before, Lin Hao had explained the whole situation to him, so Wu Xiaozhou had no intention of letting them get away.

Unable to sleep all night, he had kept turning things over in his mind. The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became that the people who had ambushed them by the school’s western wall the previous winter had also been sent by Li Lang.

After all, since Lin Hao had come to the provincial capital, he hadn’t offended many people. Li Lang was by far the most suspicious.

So Wu Xiaozhou had gotten up and questioned Lin Hao.

Lin Hao hadn’t answered directly and had changed the subject.

But that only made Wu Xiaozhou more certain that Li Lang had been behind last winter’s attack as well.

At this moment, Wu Xiaozhou had only one thought:

Beat these bastards into submission.

First, for revenge.

Second, so they would never come looking for Lin Hao’s trouble again.

Li Lang was still stunned. He didn’t recognize Wu Xiaozhou, but Hou Biao did.

During the ambush outside the Art Academy’s western wall last winter, this bald man had been wearing a military coat. Back then he still had long hair, looking like a berserk lion, and Hou Biao himself had been kicked sprawling twice by him.

The group hurriedly began unwrapping the jackets around their weapons.

But before the jackets were even off, Wu Xiaozhou’s shovel had already swung down.

Smack!

The object in the crew-cut man’s hand was knocked straight to the ground by a single blow.

A gleaming watermelon knife over a foot long rolled out from inside the jacket.

The students coming and going near the school gate stopped in their tracks when they saw a fight break out, especially after spotting the knife on the ground.

Wu Xiaozhou’s shovel swept through the air like the iron Buddhist staff wielded by Lu Zhishen himself.

In the blink of an eye, cries of pain echoed one after another.

“Ah!”

“Ahhh!”

All four men’s knives were knocked from their hands and clattered onto the ground.

Seeing Hou Biao and the others completely overwhelmed by the man in front of them, Li Lang panicked.

He yanked open the car door, twisted his body inside, and immediately locked the doors.

But in his panic, he accidentally dropped his car keys onto the ground.

Wu Xiaozhou saw that two men were already down while the other two had retreated far away, too scared to come back.

Pointing the shovel toward Li Lang inside the car, he shouted, “Fuck! Get out here!”

Inside the car, Li Lang shook his head like a rattle drum.

He regretted everything.

I should’ve listened to my brother-in-law. Why the hell did I come here looking for trouble?

“Holy shit!”

Carrying the shovel, Wu Xiaozhou began circling the brand-new Toyota Reiz.

“You got the balls, then come out here!”

A large crowd of students had gathered nearby to watch. Seeing the scene, many burst into laughter.

Li Lang stared out in terror.

He couldn’t understand where this lunatic had come from.

The guy was way too fierce.

Wu Xiaozhou was getting impatient.

“I’ll count to three. If you don’t come out, I’m smashing the car!”

Li Lang hurriedly pulled out his cellphone and dialed 110.

“Hello? Officer, I’m calling the police! Somebody’s trying to kill me…”

“One!”

“Two!”

“Three!”

Just as “three” was shouted, Lin Hao arrived on the scene. Seeing Wu Xiaozhou already raising the shovel high above his head, he yelled:

“Xiaowu, stop!”

But at this point, Wu Xiaozhou couldn’t hear a thing. The shovel came crashing down onto the windshield.

Bang!

The glass instantly shattered into a spiderweb of cracks. Li Lang watched in horror as a gap split open in the windshield and the rusty shovel blade chopped halfway through it.

Seeing the shovel stuck in the glass, Wu Xiaozhou yanked hard.

Crash!

More than half of the windshield came loose, exposing Li Lang’s pale, terrified face.

Lin Hao rushed over and grabbed the shovel. Wu Xiaozhou immediately let go of it and reached both hands through the opening to drag Li Lang out.

“Help! Help!” Li Lang screamed.

The students watching the spectacle burst into even louder laughter.

Lin Hao turned around and handed the shovel to Fatty Meng behind him. Just as he was about to speak, he heard the sound of police sirens.

“WEE-OOO! WEE-OOO! WEE-OOO!”

By then, Wu Xiaozhou had already grabbed Li Lang by the collar of his casual suit jacket. Li Lang desperately leaned backward and struggled to break free.

The moment he heard the sirens, he was overjoyed.

For the first time in his life, he thought police sirens sounded beautiful.

The police are really fast! They got here so quickly!

Wu Xiaozhou heard the sirens too, but he still didn’t feel satisfied. After all this time, he hadn’t really gotten a proper hit on Li Lang.

Unable to pull him out, he shoved his head and upper body through the broken windshield and into the car.

“Holy crap, what are you doing?” Li Lang thought the man had completely lost his mind. “The police are already here! What more do you want?”

Wu Xiaozhou gripped his collar tightly with his left hand and raised his right.

Smack!

A loud slap landed squarely on Li Lang’s face.

Then came a rapid barrage.

Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!

“Stop!”

A uniformed police officer had already run over. After shouting once, he saw that the man half inside the car completely ignored him. The sounds of slapping continued from inside the vehicle, so he reached out to pull Wu Xiaozhou away.

Two more men followed behind the officer. Although they were dressed in plain clothes, their eyes and demeanor immediately told Lin Hao and the others that they were police officers as well.

Staring at Li Lang with wide eyes, Wu Xiaozhou was thoroughly enjoying himself.

He grinned.

“Kid, if you ever cause trouble for Lin Hao again, I’ll beat you every time I see you! Say, last winter at our school, when you were in the west—”

Before he could finish, the officer had already grabbed his belt and yanked him out of the car.

Wu Xiaozhou immediately raised both hands high and smiled innocently.

“Officer! Officer! I was acting in self-defense! These hooligans came to our school to beat us up—”

“Shut up!”

The officer pressed down hard on the back of his neck.

Wu Xiaozhou obediently squatted on the ground.

One of the plainclothes officers went to open the car door. Li Lang quickly pushed it open himself.

His face was already swollen, and he cried out in a trembling voice:

“I called the police! I called the police! They assaulted me! Arrest them!”

The plainclothes officer was visibly surprised.

“Your name is Li Lang?”

Seeing that Wu Xiaozhou had already been subdued, Li Lang found some courage.

“Yes! I’m Li Lang!”

Before he could say anything else, another round of sirens sounded.

“WEE-OOO! WEE-OOO! WEE-OOO!”

A 110 patrol car pulled up by the roadside, and two officers stepped out.

Even Lin Hao was confused.

It was just a fight. Why had two separate groups of police officers shown up?

One of the plainclothes officers immediately understood what had happened. Li Lang must have called 110 from inside the car just now.

He walked over to meet the two newly arrived officers.

After showing them his identification, the three exchanged salutes and spoke quietly for a few moments before walking back together…
