Yu Wei stared at that line of text for a long time, feeling a bit embarrassed. But… at the moment, it seemed like the only way to attract viewers was with an eye-catching title like this, right?
It wasn’t her style, but gritting her teeth, she shakily clicked the “+” to start the stream. Sure enough, the simple and blunt title was incredibly attention-grabbing—barely five minutes in, and the number of viewers was already pushing 50!
【Eh? Is that Little Fish Tail? You’re back?】
【I thought yesterday’s stream was just a hallucination.】
【Where is the streamer? Why are there only trees? Where’s your face?】
【Came in for the title—what do you mean by time travel? Did she find a place that looks like the 80s or something?】
【Aaaaah—is it Fish Tail? Is it? Is it?? Fish Tail, you’re so cute!】……
The comments poured in, growing faster and wilder, and Yu Wei’s mood swayed with them.
It wasn’t until she saw the familiar ID “Fish Head” enter the stream that her throat tightened. With trembling fingers, she flipped the camera around—revealing a face that was both familiar and strange to the viewers.
Gone was the impeccably made-up Yu Wei, who always dressed like money was no object. Now, she was wearing a floral-patterned short jacket, her hair done up in two outdated braids, and not a trace of makeup on her face—not even lipstick.
Had the beauty-loving Little Fish Tail really fallen this far? No wonder she was using clickbait to grab attention!
The stream exploded, the chat went wild.
【Streamer, were you kidnapped or something?】
【Fish Tail, why do you look so… country?】
【Wait a minute, it’s only been half a year, but Fish Tail looks younger?】
【So the real reason she disappeared for half a year was to get plastic surgery!?】
【Holy crap! That’s the truth!?】
As the comments grew increasingly bizarre, Yu Wei quickly covered the camera and called out, “You stay here and play, okay? Don’t wander off!”
Yu Hui was busy playing with the grass on the lawn. Hearing his mother’s voice, he looked up and nodded obediently.
Only then did Yu Wei quickly walk over to a small hill and stand at the foot of it, facing the sunlight that lit up her face clearly.
“Hi everyone, I’m your Little Fish Tail streamer.” She started with a greeting, then took a deep breath.
“So…”
After a long moment of mental prep, Yu Wei cautiously began.
“You might not believe this, but…”
【Just say it already, streamer! You’re killing us!】
Yu Wei cleared her throat twice, then looked directly at the screen and said quietly, “Um… I think I might have time-traveled.”
The comment section was filled with bewilderment. From the words flying by, she could clearly tell they were mocking her.
【Streamer, seriously? You’re making up stuff just for views?】
Yu Wei froze and looked at the ID—an unfamiliar name. Probably their first time in her stream.
“I’m not lying, I really…”
Before she could finish, another new viewer popped up:
【Only a ghost would believe that!】
Yu Wei instantly realized what was happening and reflexively reached out to end the stream.
No Way, No Way — She Couldn’t Even Process It Herself, Let Alone Explain It to Others!
If the newcomers all assumed she was faking it for attention, wouldn’t that completely ruin her reputation?
But she had actually time-traveled! And if her reputation got ruined—so what? It’s not like she could go back anyway!
That brief moment of frustration was interrupted when Yu Wei suddenly received a message from Fish Head.
【Streamer, why do you look so haggard today? No makeup?】
Of course, her hardcore fan noticed what others didn’t—he immediately caught on to the key detail.
Yu Wei nodded repeatedly and lifted her phone higher, shoving the camera right up to her face. She even brushed aside a few messy strands of hair that the wind had blown to her temple.
“I mean, don’t you guys think I look a lot younger?”
【Can’t tell, I’m new here.】
【No idea, just here for the hype.】
【No clue, doesn’t seem that exciting—streamer’s just entertaining herself. I’m out.】
All these comments were from newcomers. Yu Wei watched the viewer count dip as people came and went, and a wave of panic rose in her chest.
【So during your six-month disappearance, did you really get plastic surgery, Little Fish Tail?!】 Fish Head asked.
Yu Wei sighed helplessly. “Do I look like I had plastic surgery?”
This face was 100% natural—full of collagen, with flawless, eye-catching features. Aside from a bit of poor circulation, she looked nothing like the almost-thirty woman she was before time-traveling.
【Ohhh, I get it now. You’re wearing one of those natural filter makeup looks today, right? But… why are you in the middle of nowhere?】
Yu Wei face-planted.
Another old fan chimed in.
【Uhh… even though it’s been six months, I don’t think my eyes are that bad. Fish Tail really does look younger.】
Yu Wei instantly revived.
“Yes! Please, you guys have to believe me—I really did get younger! Actually, I didn’t just time-travel—I soul-swapped too!”
Why should she hold back? She had time-traveled—she wasn’t lying!
Right. No need to hide anything.
She went on, “If you don’t believe me, I can prove it!”
Since she probably couldn’t go back anyway, then so what if she used all these gimmicks to draw traffic? More viewers meant more gifts, and more gifts meant more cash. With that, she could actually afford to buy food…
Life was hard. Yu Wei sighed.
【How are you going to prove it, streamer? LOL】
【Soul-swapped? I think your brain got swapped, streamer! Hahaha!】
【Wait, but isn’t brain-swapping technically soul-swapping? You didn’t even roast her properly!】
【Hahaha】
Yep. More people tuning in just to watch the drama unfold.
Seeing the rising chaos in her livestream all because of a single comment, Yu Wei made up her mind. She turned and walked over to Yu Hui—but didn’t put him on camera. No one watching even knew he was there.
“If you really don’t believe me, then today’s stream—I’ll show you what the real 1980s look like!”
It was exactly 10 a.m. The streets weren’t too crowded; most people were at work. Yu Wei held Yu Hui’s hand with one hand and her phone in the other.
She didn’t raise the phone too high, not wanting to be noticed. She kept it at stomach level, with the screen facing her and only the rear camera exposed.
Yu Hui was only four years old—surely a kid that small didn’t understand much… Whatever. She was doing this to earn a living and make life better. Hopefully, the kid didn’t think she was some crazy lady talking to herself.
As they walked, Yu Wei purposely avoided crowds. Along the way were authentic old buildings from the 1980s. Occasionally, a few locals appeared on screen, dressed in distinctly vintage clothing from that era.
Yu Wei made sure to turn her back whenever she spoke to avoid being recognized, lowering her voice as she said: “See this? I really time-traveled.”
With the rear camera now on, her face disappeared from the screen—but the viewers could clearly see the street she was walking on.
Younger viewers, especially students, might not recognize these streets. But older ones—especially those born decades before Yu Wei—would feel a strong sense of nostalgia.
Every building flashing across the screen was a familiar place, triggering waves of memories. Though it was just a quiet little street, viewers had already started sending her gifts.
They were mostly cheap, small ones—but to Yu Wei, it was enough to make her emotional.
The screen started to rain virtual flowers—bright red petals falling everywhere, mixed with a few white feathers. Yu Wei’s heart pounded in her chest.
Those were all money!
