Lu Wu was stunned. This snake… was oddly capable of eating.
Qin Zhan and the other two were furious.
“My fish!”
They wailed in grief.
“Hiss hiss hiss!”
Humans, hurry up.
The evil dragon completely ignored their suffering.
Serving a dragon is your honor.
The black snake tapped Lu Wu’s arm with its tail, urging her on.
From those vertical red pupils, Lu Wu could read arrogance.
This snake looked like a king issuing commands to its servants with casual disdain. Paired with its rather thin body, the contrast felt strangely out of place.
“There’s no fish left,” Lu Wu said honestly.
Those were just leftovers she had stored in her storage bag. Since they had harvested quite a lot in the secret realm, she had planned to clear out her stock.
“Hiss!”
What? No fish?
No, the dragon must eat.
If there’s no fish… then humans can be grilled instead.
The evil dragon’s gaze slowly swept over Lu Wu’s face, then shifted toward the other three.
After all, its diet was very broad.
The cook couldn’t be touched. The other three humans, however, looked plump and well-fed—surely delicious.
A chill ran down their spines.
But that faint fear was quickly replaced by rage.
“You damn snake, spit out my fish!”
Liu Xiaotian struck first, grabbing the evil dragon from Lu Wu’s wrist and squeezing its “seven-inch” weak spot viciously as a threat.
The usually gentle Jiang Yunhe was already rummaging through his storage space.
He remembered he had some poisons specifically meant for torturing snakes—perfect for this moment.
Qin Zhan, meanwhile, held Ruixue, measuring the snake from head to tail, as if searching for the best place to strike.
“A snake… can be grilled too, right?”
Lu Wu said it before her brain could catch up.
That single sentence plunged both three humans and one dragon into silence.
It felt like this statement had opened a whole new world for human cultivators.
No fish? Then the snake pays.
“Kehehehe!”
Liu Xiaotian let out a sinister laugh, gripping the snake tighter, eyes shining.
“It’s a bit skinny… but that’s fine. As long as it’s edible.”
Qin Zhan stepped forward with his sword.
He had found the perfect place to strike—one hit, one kill.
“Hold it steady,” he said.
As Ruixue cut through the air in a silver flash—
Clang!
A burst of sparks exploded.
Qin Zhan’s arm went numb from the recoil, nearly dropping his sword.
“How is that possible?”
He was dumbfounded.
Ruixue was a spiritual sword specially forged for him by his sect, renowned among magical weapons. It was supposed to cut through iron like mud.
Yet it hadn’t even left a scratch on the scales.
Not even a white mark.
Instead, his wrist throbbed painfully.
Liu Xiaotian flinched and dropped the snake onto the ground.
Jiang Yunhe began preparing even more snake-targeting poisons, slowly approaching to deliver a fatal dose.
Unlike the humans’ shock, the evil dragon remained calm.
It slithered once on the ground, then launched itself back onto Lu Wu’s arm.
Its body was too small; it didn’t like looking up at humans.
It wrapped itself tightly around her—so tightly that Lu Wu couldn’t remove it at all.
“Boss Lu!”
Qin Zhan exchanged serious looks with Jiang Yunhe and Liu Xiaotian.
They weren’t stupid—they could tell this “snake” was far from ordinary. They might not even have the means to deal with it.
Qin Zhan, who had inexplicably been “useless” ever since entering the secret realm, decided he would rise to the occasion.
He would prove he still deserved his reputation as a genius.
But Lu Wu remained calm.
She tilted her head at it, then snapped her fingers.
Lapis-lazuli flames erupted from her body, instantly engulfing the black snake.
“!!”
The moment the beautiful, holy flame appeared, the dragon panicked.
All its scales stood on end.
Its vertical pupils filled with fear, wariness, and confusion.
How could this human possess that flame?
Wasn’t this supposed to be the most arrogant flame in the world? Even that old bastard Feng Tian back then couldn’t fully subdue it—he could only use it to suppress the dragon in this secret realm.
And now it was behaving like a submissive pet?
The dragon seriously questioned the era it was living in.
It immediately loosened its grip and fled from Lu Wu at top speed.
Then, it chose the softest “persimmon” in the group—Liu Xiaotian—and coiled around his head.
The proud, aloof dragon had instantly become a cowardly snake.
Everyone’s attention shifted to the thing on Liu Xiaotian’s head.
Liu Xiaotian himself wanted to look too—but he couldn’t.
The weight on his neck was too heavy, pressing his head down so much he could only roll his eyes upward, looking a bit… dim.
Qin Zhan gave him a sympathetic look.
Liu Xiaotian wanted to cry.
Mom… Dad… I miss you…
The outside world is too terrifying. I want to go home.
The group and snake fell into a tense standoff.
Just as the atmosphere grew heavier—
A clear bird cry echoed through the sky.
“Chirp chirp!”
It was Huohuo returning.
The moment she came back, she was ready to cling to Lu Wu—until she spotted a familiar, annoying little black dragon.
Her bird eyes instantly widened.
“Chirp!”
Little Wu Wu is the best—she even brought this little spicy strip straight to her!
Huohuo dove straight toward the dragon.
The dragon went numb.
Why is this bird here?!
It had no chance against her.
Her claws could shred its scales. Her phoenix fire could turn it into dragon jerky.
Dragons of evil deeds met phoenix flames that burned away all corruption.
Natural enemy. Absolute counter.
Heaven really didn’t want it to live.
After thousands of years of suffering, it still wouldn’t let up?
Was a dragon not even allowed to live peacefully for a bit?
The dragon’s eyes grew misty.
Its body went limp and collapsed completely on Liu Xiaotian’s head.
It was done resisting.
Life was hopeless.
It might as well just die.
Before dying, it looked at Lu Wu with a resentful gaze.
Hiss…
Human, its only dying wish… is one more bite of that delicious food.
Lu Wu, unable to understand snake or dragon language, still somehow read its expression.
Her thoughts aligned with the dragon’s strange signals, and—after seeing Huohuo’s aggressive posture and recalling the snake’s unusual traits—she suddenly made a guess.
The evil dragon had broken free.
So this was the legendary evil dragon.
Except instead of an imposing tyrant, it was now just a spineless little black snake.
Her grand expectations shattered.
Lu Wu calmly took out some pork.
No fish? Then meat would do.
For her, any “enemy” that could be won over with food was basically already under control.
