Lu Wu’s eyesight was limited, but the “One Realm Communication” platform was full of capable people.
After browsing for a bit, she quickly figured out what the little stone was.
Fire Rock Crystal—an extremely rare material that only occasionally forms after rocks are continuously tempered in high-temperature environments.
If sold, this one piece alone would fetch at least a thousand mid-grade spirit stones.
One stone, and it would directly complete the fee target of her mission.
When Lu Wu saw the little creature jump onto her stall again, shaking its head proudly as if showing off, she blinked.
“So you’re a little lucky charm, huh. Come on, eat whatever you want. Eat until you’re full.”
She pushed several bowls of ice jelly in front of it.
“Chirp chirp!”
The little creature rubbed its head against her palm, its crown feathers swaying, so adorable it could melt hearts.
The system showed that she had already completed three mission counts.
Lu Wu became even happier.
Even customers that weren’t human counted toward her performance?
Then her business really had great potential.
“Is it good?”
Lu Wu asked with a smile.
The little creature responded with a few hurried chirps while stealing time from eating, then buried its head in the bowl.
Its beak was small, so it could only peck at the food.
It bobbed its head repeatedly, looking mischievous and lively.
It seemed to really enjoy it, because it never stopped pecking.
Lu Wu had made each bowl based on a normal human portion, but all of it disappeared into the little creature’s stomach in no time.
Even though the bird was small, its appetite was truly enormous.
A small bird’s stomach could hold a boat.
“Chirp!”
The little creature flapped its wings and patted its round belly, its bright eyes full of satisfaction.
It hopped onto Lu Wu’s shoulder, rubbed its head against her cheek, acting spoiled.
Lu Wu raised her hand and stroked its feathers.
The soft feathers were addictive to touch.
Just as she was about to continue petting the bird, the little creature suddenly spread its wings and flew upward, circling above her head before beginning to sing loudly.
Even though it was just bird calls, Lu Wu could somehow hear a beautiful melody within them.
The song echoed through the sky, clear and piercing.
It was calling something.
Lu Wu looked up.
Soon, she saw a dense black mass approaching from afar.
It was… a flock of birds.
Just one glance was enough to make her scalp tingle with pressure.
When small birds gathered in such numbers, they could likely tear her apart in an instant.
There was no escaping.
Lu Wu stood calmly in place.
Since she couldn’t run, she could at least choose her “death posture.”
Fortunately, the flock was drawn by the little creature and did not attack her.
They circled around it, chirping in response.
Lu Wu couldn’t understand beast language, she could only watch the lively movements of the little creature.
Its wings sliced through the sky.
Under its command, the flock slowly descended.
When they got closer, Lu Wu realized these birds were about the same size as the little creature, but their feathers differed in color.
Most were reddish-brown, with occasional pure red feathers mixed in.
Only the little creature itself was completely fiery red.
And it stood at the center, clearly their leader.
The birds landed and surrounded Lu Wu’s stall completely.
They hopped neatly in formation, like a swirling ring.
“Chirp chirp!”
Lu Wu could hear excitement in that sound.
“You want me to feed them ice jelly too?”
She brushed the soft tail feathers and guessed the meaning.
“Chirp!”
The little creature nodded.
The flock was large—over a hundred birds.
The payment from earlier was more than enough.
Lu Wu started thinking: if she served the entire flock, would the mission count as one completion, or would it count per bird?
Curious, she decided to test it.
“Alright, wait a moment.”
With the sudden surge in customers, Lu Wu immediately became energized.
She rolled up her sleeves and got to work.
Bowls of ice jelly were quickly formed under her hands.
Each finished bowl was placed on the stall, and as soon as it was ready, a bird would fly over and carry it away.
If any tried to cut the line, they would be met with a wing strike from the little creature.
Don’t underestimate its small size—the force behind its wings was not light at all.
One bird that tried to cut in was slapped straight to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
When the dust settled, Lu Wu saw a small crater. Inside it, the bird looked strangely peaceful, as if it had fallen asleep.
Another bowl completed.
The birds used their beaks to carry the bowls, even though they had some weight, doing it effortlessly, which made Lu Wu realize she should not underestimate them.
Her business was booming.
It was just that her customers were not human.
But as a businessperson, who cared what species the customers were?
Customer species didn’t matter.
She encouraged herself and kept working hard, forcing herself not to look at the birds that occasionally shattered bowls in a single bite.
These birds had far worse control than the little creature.
Almost every sale resulted in a broken bowl.
Some ice jelly spilled onto the ground, and the impatient little creature would rush over and smack those birds on the head with its wing.
Those birds didn’t dare resist.
Lu Wu couldn’t ask for feedback from her customers.
But from the increasingly excited chirping, their rating of her craftsmanship was probably five stars.
“Chirp!”
Seeing the orderly progress, the little creature looked proud.
It hopped onto Lu Wu’s shoulder, chirping occasionally as if cheering her on.
“Thanks a lot.”
Lu Wu was honestly working in a state of mild nervous exhaustion.
As they grew more satisfied, the birds that had finished eating began chirping even louder.
After some internal communication, the remaining birds grew impatient.
They started hopping and flapping their wings, trying to take off.
The little creature quickly suppressed them, causing chaos in the flock.
“Don’t rush, there’s enough for everyone.”
“Plenty!”
Lu Wu hurried to comfort them.
Whether it was just her imagination or not, the temperature around them seemed to rise again during the commotion.
She felt like she was just too busy and imagining things.
Because beneath the flock, the ground—dry, lifeless, completely devoid of plants—had started to burn.
Crackling sounds of fire erupted loudly.
The miraculous scene was completely ignored by the birds.
Or perhaps, the birds themselves were the cause of the flames.
So the question arose:
If these birds could ignite the ground just by gathering, fire-attributed beasts like them—why would they eat her ice jelly meant to cool down?
Could it be that even they were too hot to bear?
Lu Wu’s thoughts wandered, but she didn’t dare ask.
After all, those beaks looked like they could crack her skull in one hit.
She chose to stay very sensible.
After more than an hour of nonstop work, Lu Wu finally finished serving all the bird customers.
She let out a long breath and rubbed her arms.
【Mission progress: 113/1500】
Thanks to the birds’ contribution, her progress had increased slightly.
