Lu Wu was no stranger to the name Divine Physician Hall. In fact, everyone in Southern Province knew of it.
It was the clinic established by Divine Physician Valley for the outside world.
Whether cultivator or mortal, regardless of how strange or difficult an illness might be, patients could find treatment there. The number of people seeking medical help was countless, and its reputation had endured for generations.
The only regrettable thing was that there was just a single Divine Physician Hall in all of Southern Province, located within Tianyi City.
Originally, Tianyi City had been called Tianyi Medical City. Divine Physician Valley’s mountain gate was hidden somewhere in the valleys outside the city.
One could say that the city itself had been built because of Divine Physician Valley.
However, the Valley Master at the time felt that the words “Heavenly Medicine” were too grand and carried too much weight. A healer should remain humble and continue striving forward. Thus, the city was renamed Tianyi.
As Jiang Yunhe’s hometown, he knew the place like the back of his hand.
Lu Wu had not even been there for fifteen minutes before she was discovered. This time, however, she had no intention of running away.
At the moment, she was scouting outside the entrance of Divine Physician Hall.
There were many patients. Numerous people held number tokens while waiting for their turn. Occasionally, patients suffering sudden critical illnesses would be rushed through a special passage directly into the clinic.
Even standing outside, Lu Wu could smell the lingering fragrance of medicinal herbs within.
It wasn’t pungent. Instead, after entering her nose, it left her body feeling lighter.
This place was a holy land for countless patients and healers alike.
Southern Province had more than just Divine Physician Valley practicing medicine, but no other medical sect could compare with its reputation.
As a result, disciples from various medical schools regarded this place as the ultimate academy for further study and came here with fervent admiration.
When Lu Wu arrived, she could barely find a place to stand.
“Make way! Hurry! This man isn’t going to hold on much longer!”
A shout rang out.
Turning her head, Lu Wu saw a man lying on a stretcher whose body had been severed in half at the waist.
In the Qingyuan World, even ordinary people unable to cultivate possessed physiques far stronger than those of people on Earth thanks to the abundant spiritual energy.
Despite an injury that should have been fatal, the man still clung to a thread of life.
His path remained completely unobstructed as he was carried into Divine Physician Hall.
Moments later, cries of astonishment erupted from inside.
“My heavens! The wound closed up! He’s alive!”
“Divine Physician! Thank you, Divine Physician!”
Expressions of gratitude filled the air.
Lu Wu clicked her tongue.
She suddenly felt there wasn’t really a place for her here.
Patients were suffering from illness and pain, while she planned to set up a stall selling bugs.
Wouldn’t she get beaten up when the time came?
Maybe she should pay some protection money first.
Watching Jiang Yunhe approach, Lu Wu pondered the idea.
“Boss Lu…”
The moment Jiang Yunhe saw her, his heart settled. Just as he was about to speak, several people from Divine Physician Hall rushed out.
“It’s Physician Jiang! Physician Jiang has returned!”
“Quick, Junior Brother! Your Senior Brother has a difficult case that needs your help!”
“Junior Brother! Your Senior Sister needs assistance too!”
A multitude of hands reached out, grabbed the unwilling Jiang Yunhe, and dragged him back into the building.
The protection-fee plan was temporarily shelved.
Having finished scouting the location, it was time to procure ingredients.
“Boss Lu, what delicious thing are you selling this time?”
Thinking of food, Long Zhang was practically drooling. His speech even became slightly slurred.
“You’ll find out soon enough. But I can reveal one thing.”
Lu Wu looked at the hem of his robe, where several octopus tentacles hidden underneath were twitching eagerly.
“It has something in common with you.”
The commonality being that neither was human.
“Huh? Something related to me?”
Long Zhang’s imagination immediately ran wild.
Could it be seafood?
There were countless delicious things in the sea.
Or perhaps the legendary Crab Roe Burger from before was making a comeback.
Back in the Dragon Palace, the crab maid had stockpiled mountains of crab roe from generations of crabs, waiting to present it as a gift the next time they met Boss Lu.
The others were also deep in thought.
The sound of people swallowing saliva rose one after another.
Watching their hopeless appearances, a sly light flashed through Lu Wu’s eyes.
Laugh while you can.
You won’t be laughing much later.
The marketplace was crowded.
After observing the layout, Lu Wu headed directly toward her destination.
The group followed behind, only to watch her walk right past the seafood stalls.
“Boss Lu, we’ve gone too far.”
Long Zhang kindly reminded her.
“No, we haven’t.”
Lu Wu shrugged.
She had never said she was buying seafood.
“Huh?”
The group looked bewildered.
Fortunately, Lu Wu soon stopped.
“Boss, how much are these?”
She crouched down and raised an eyebrow at the plump bugs wriggling inside a cage.
What fine specimens.
The silkworm pupae were thick and chubby, each one nearly the width of two fingers. Their bodies were brownish-black and still squirming.
The stall sold many edible insects.
The most eye-catching were grasshoppers the size of a fist.
Though enormous, they had actually hatched not long ago and were still exceptionally tender.
“Young lady, you’ve got a good eye. These are all fresh goods, collected this very morning. One fixed price.”
The vendor grinned and held up five fingers.
“Five spirit stones per jin?”
Lu Wu asked.
“No. Fifty spirit stones…”
Under Lu Wu’s increasingly dangerous stare, the vendor leisurely added:
“For all of them.”
“Deal. I’ll take everything.”
Lu Wu made the decision immediately.
Fifty spirit stones for such a quantity?
That was absurdly cheap.
“Wonderful!”
The vendor visibly brightened and pushed several cages toward her.
“Young lady, just take them all. The cages are free too.”
“Sure.”
Lu Wu nodded and stored all the insects away.
“Add me on One World Connect. If you get more stock in the next few days, I’ll buy again.”
Eating insects might seem unusual, but Lu Wu believed that once a brave soul tasted the deliciousness of an insect feast, they would transform into learned scholars and argue passionately on her behalf.
Better prepare a larger quantity in advance.
What if she ran out?
The insect vendor’s entire stock was swept clean, but it still wasn’t enough.
Lu Wu headed toward the next stall.
Behind her, the vendor looked at her as though she were the world’s biggest sucker.
The bugs were caught for free.
The cages were woven from wild bamboo, also free.
He had heard that some people enjoyed eating insects. Since he lived in the mountains and bugs were plentiful, he’d figured he might as well sell a few and make some money.
Turns out it worked.
“Boss Lu…”
Watching her series of purchases, the group behind her wanted to say something but stopped themselves.
A terrible premonition was taking shape.
Weren’t they here to buy ingredients?
Why was Boss Lu purchasing so many insects?
Various horrifying possibilities flashed through Qin Zhan’s mind. He shook his head violently, trying to cast them away.
Impossible.
Absolutely impossible!
Boss Lu would never treat her customers like that.
Even if he starved to death, Qin Zhan would never eat bugs.
“What you’re thinking is exactly what I mean.”
Lu Wu’s words shattered everyone’s last shred of hope.
Instantly, their expressions changed.
Long Zhang in particular stared at her resentfully.
He very much wanted to ask what exactly he had in common with these bugs.
“The food I’m selling this time is these insects.”
“Don’t let their ugly appearance fool you. They’re actually quite tasty.”
“Crispy and crunchy, one bite at a time. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.”
Though Lu Wu sounded like she was explaining, she was really pouring fuel on the fire.
Shan Hanzhi pursed her lips.
She recalled the grasshopper with blade-like forearms, the filthy-colored silkworm pupae, and several indescribable insects.
A shiver ran through her body.
She, Shan Hanzhi, feared neither heaven nor earth.
Only bugs.
