Rabbits ate grass, and a large rabbit colony had an enormous appetite. They could eat a lot, and naturally, they produced a lot of waste as well.
Because of that, areas inhabited by rabbit colonies usually had noticeably sparse grass cover.

Because now, the rabbits ate meat.
Deep within the forest, a red-eyed rabbit was chasing a fox.
“Chi chi chi!”
Hungry. Eat!
Already a low-intelligence creature, it had been corrupted by ghostly energy until only one thought remained in its mind:

The fox’s cries were tinged with tears.

Its sharp front teeth parted, drool dangling from its mouth.
The ring of tiny teeth inside was already impatient to taste fresh meat.

Just as the rabbit thought victory was certain, a bird’s cry echoed from above.
A fist-sized ball of golden-red flame descended from the sky and struck the rabbit squarely.
The instant its fur touched the fire, the flames exploded outward.
Within that brilliant blaze, the rabbit didn’t even have time to see its attacker before it was burned to death.

Huohuo swooped down quickly.

Perched on a branch, Huohuo tilted her head and looked at the fox, who appeared ready to sacrifice herself.
She chirped.

Why would a little fox need to sacrifice herself?
This time, Huohuo didn’t dare use flames.

The older fox became a little depressed.
Fortunately, Huohuo arrived quickly.
A flap of her wings sent out wind blades that instantly killed the rabbit, preventing the fox from accidentally getting herself killed.

The difference between beasts was simply that great.

Huohuo ordered the three foxes to lead the way.
She intended to wipe out the entire rabbit colony and bring all the rabbits back to be turned into spicy rabbit heads.
With such a terrifying killer on their side, the foxes regained their confidence.
Before long, an enormous rabbit colony appeared before Huohuo.
The moment the evil little white rabbits noticed the intruders, they launched an attack.
In Huohuo’s eyes, however, their fierce aggression looked like they were voluntarily jumping into a pot.
A pot for spicy rabbit heads.
Huohuo unleashed her might once more.
Her tiny figure darted through the rabbit colony.
Wherever she passed, blood flowed like rivers.
The phoenix’s overwhelming aura filled nearby beasts with fear.
Even the corrupted rabbits weren’t her opponents.
Ordinary beasts like them had no business joining the excitement.
The process went smoothly.
Patting the storage pouch hanging around her neck, Huohuo returned fully loaded.
The three foxes didn’t dare remain in the forest and hurried after her.
During this time, countless rumors spread among the beasts.
“Have you heard? A little red bird showed up and wiped out the evil rabbits.”
“Really? I heard it was a giant black-and-white tiger. Though apparently the tiger has brain problems and likes meowing.”
“Huh? I encountered a big yellow dog.”
“The evil little white rabbits are almost extinct.”

The rumors continued spreading.
And the winds of the forest were no longer calm.
