On a patch of soft grass, a red fox stood with every hair on its body bristling. Its claws dug firmly into the ground as its terrified eyes stared at the rabbit in front of it.
Rabbits were supposed to be prey for foxes.
Yet when facing this rabbit, what the fox felt was the threat of death itself.
The male fox’s body trembled.
By all rights, it should have fled. But it had a mate and unborn children to protect. It had to buy them a chance to survive.
So it couldn’t retreat.
It let out a hoarse growl, trying to drive the rabbit away.
The rabbit remained completely unmoved.
If anything, the noise only drew its attention fully onto the fox.
Its appearance wasn’t too different from an ordinary rabbit. Snow-white fur covered its body, except black mist continuously seeped from it. Its eyes, which should have been as clear and red as rubies, were filled with madness and malice. Dark stains around its eye sockets looked like spilled ink, turning that crimson color into something bloodthirsty.
It stared at the fox while drool dripped endlessly from its mouth.
Its split lips parted, revealing sharp rabbit teeth still stained with blood.
Fox blood.
A creature that should have been herbivorous seemed to have undergone some kind of genetic mutation.
The rabbits had risen.
They had overthrown their place in the food chain.
And now they were launching an assault on the predators above them.
The fox clan was among the first victims.

The rabbit’s lips twitched.

While still in midair, its jaws opened.
Inside what should have been a soft mouth was a horrifying sight—a ring of densely packed teeth.
The teeth continuously clicked against one another, producing a scalp-crawling sound.
They were urging the rabbit to hurry up and eat.
The male fox’s fur exploded outward.
It whipped its tail and tried to dodge, but it was still a step too slow.
Seeing that her mate was about to die to that evil three-lipped monster, the female fox couldn’t bear to watch.
She wouldn’t let his sacrifice go to waste.
Just as she prepared to flee and find a place to raise her unborn children alone, a tiger’s roar suddenly echoed through the mountains.
“ROAR!”
The cry of the king of beasts swept through layers of green forest.
Leaves rustled violently.
The mountains answered the call of the forest’s child.
In the blink of an eye, a black-and-white figure leaped over the female fox’s head and landed beside the male fox.
“ROAR!”
Mimi let out another excited roar.
His luck was incredible.
He had found a rabbit not long after leaving home.
Sure, this rabbit looked a little strange, but that didn’t matter.
His master hadn’t specified what kind of rabbit she wanted.
Besides, they were all demonic beasts.
Mutation wasn’t that unusual.
The terrifying rabbit that had scared the foxes half to death looked no different from an ordinary carrot-loving bunny in Mimi’s eyes.
One paw came down.
The rabbit was effortlessly pinned beneath it.
The rabbit struggled helplessly.
Meanwhile, the male fox finally snapped out of his shock.
Having just escaped a rabbit’s mouth only to seemingly end up in a tiger’s jaws, his legs went weak and he collapsed onto the ground.

But after waiting for a while, the tiger still hadn’t attacked him.
Sneaking a glance, he discovered the tiger was studying the rabbit instead.
The enormous paw toyed with the rabbit as though it were a plaything.
In truth, that was exactly how Mimi saw it.
“Roar…”
Achievement unlocked: one rabbit.
Just as Mimi lowered his head to pick up the rabbit, the pinned rabbit suddenly refused to accept its fate.
The hell with that!
It had finally become stronger.
Even if it was facing a tiger, it had to fight.

With a furious squeal, it bit down on Mimi’s paw.

The sight of those rippling muscles nearly blinded the fox.
After the male fox had accepted death and lay there waiting, Mimi simply walked right past him.

Mimi’s massive body brushed against trees, creating rustling sounds that gradually faded into the distance.
Even after the sounds disappeared completely, the male fox remained on high alert.
He couldn’t believe he was still alive.
A giant tiger had descended from the heavens, smacked the evil rabbit unconscious, and saved a fox.
A tiger saving a fox.
Did that mean he could finally ride the tiger’s prestige?
Shaking away those ridiculous thoughts, the fox waited a long time.
Only after confirming the tiger wasn’t coming back did he finally believe he’d truly survived.
“Wife, it’s safe now.”
He called out to the female fox hiding nearby.
One thing was certain:
That tiger had definitely noticed her presence.
The two foxes felt extremely conflicted about their “benefactor tiger.”
They exchanged a look.
A silent understanding passed between them.
Decision made.
They would cling to this thigh.
“Wife, there’s no time to lose. We have to follow him.”
Foxes were symbols of cunning and intelligence.
Their minds worked quickly.
In a forest where even rabbits could hunt foxes, relying on a tiger wasn’t such a hard thing to accept.
While the two foxes prepared to seek refuge under the tiger’s protection, back at the food stall, Lu Wu was crouched beside the rabbits the three little ones had brought back, wearing a troubled expression.

Not to mention the indescribable black mist constantly rising from their bodies.
Something about them was very, very wrong.
Cthulhu invasion?

According to the three little ones, these rabbits were actively hunting carnivorous animals.
The foxes weren’t their only victims.
Other demonic beasts in the forest had suffered too.
From their description, a single bite from one of these rabbits could leave a creature gravely injured.

Could these rabbits still be eaten?
