“Are you a monk?”
Third Brother stared blankly at Lu Wu, the question slipping out before he could stop himself.
He had only ever seen this kind of radiant glow around monks before. It hurt his eyes. It made his eyes water.
“Huh?”
Lu Wu touched her thick black hair, then glanced down at her still-somewhat-curvy chest. She really wanted to ask which part of her looked like a bald monk.
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
Big Brother smacked him on the head before turning to Lu Wu with an apologetic smile.
“Sorry about that. My little brother speaks without thinking. Please don’t take it to heart, Bodhisattva.”
Well, she had gone from monk to Bodhisattva now.
“Actually, I’m human.”
Lu Wu firmly defended her identity, though she had adapted quite well to the brothers’ bizarre behavior.
The day normal people started appearing among her customers would be the truly abnormal day.
“See you later.”
They were unfamiliar faces, but after meeting a few times they’d become familiar. Assuming they were customers, Lu Wu smiled at the three brothers and then climbed onto the Great Wings Stall, soaring toward the summit of Demon-Suppressing Mountain.
The three men were left staring at each other.
As soon as Lu Wu left, the other customers began climbing the mountain as well.
Without spiritual energy and not being ascetic cultivators, the mountain path was quite challenging for many of them.
But the thought of sweet milk tea waiting at the top filled them with motivation.
Charge!
The crowd surged forward. Many started with explosive bursts of speed. Anyone watching would think they were fleeing for their lives.
The three brothers, however, remained at the foot of the mountain. By now, Lu Wu’s figure had completely disappeared.
“Big Brother, do we have other partners?”
Third Brother scratched his head.
Could it be that their employer didn’t trust them to get the job done and had hired additional help?
Otherwise, why had that young lady said, “See you later”?
It sounded suspiciously like a secret code.
“I don’t know either.”
Big Brother was equally puzzled.
“Maybe the employer wanted extra insurance. After all, this isn’t exactly a simple mission.”
Second Brother stroked his chin thoughtfully before grabbing both of them by the shoulders.
“Forget it. Let’s head up. There’s still plenty of time. We can investigate our ‘companions’ first.”
The three reached an agreement and began climbing.
Meanwhile, Lu Wu, riding her Great Wings, left all the customers in the dust.
Clouds drifted lazily through the air.
The majestic ancient temple stood amidst the morning mist like something beyond the mortal world.
The scenery was breathtaking.
Yet Lu Wu felt completely out of place.
Because at the very top of the mountain path stood a group of monks eagerly waiting.
Leading them was Little Monk Tian Hui, who kept peering down the mountain.
The instant he spotted Lu Wu, he excitedly waved both arms.
Behind him, the monks raised a giant floral cloth banner.
Written on it were the words:
“A Warm Welcome to Boss Lu Setting Up Her Stall at Heavenly Buddha Temple!”
From over ten meters away, Lu Wu stared at the flower-patterned fabric that looked like something only grandmothers would use as bed sheets.
An overwhelming urge to turn around and leave arose within her.
Good grief.
Were they deliberately trying to make things awkward?
“Big Sister Lu, you’re here!”
Tian Hui dashed down the path and grabbed her hand.
“Big Sister, I’ve already cleaned the spot where you’ll set up your stall.”
“And the other senior brothers asked me to tell you they’ll come support your business after morning prayers.”
“Big Sister, I’ve missed you so much!”
After drinking several cups of milk tea yesterday, his mouth had tasted sweet all day.
More importantly, his master had said that his heart had finally calmed down.
Once the Demon-Sealing Array was lifted, he would officially begin cultivating the temple’s secret Buddhist arts.
He was very happy.
Deep down, he vaguely felt that all of this was because of Big Sister Lu.
Her milk tea was magical.
As he spoke, he tilted his head slightly.
He knew Big Sister Lu had been eyeing their shaved heads for a while. But she felt too embarrassed to touch the older monks’ heads.
Placing her hand on the smooth, round scalp, Lu Wu enjoyed the unique texture and rubbed it a little harder.
This little monk was far too considerate.
How could she possibly run away now?
“You certainly know how to sweet-talk people. You’ll be first in line later.”
Holding Tian Hui’s hand, Lu Wu headed toward the stall location while the Great Wings Stall floated beside her.
Many monks gathered around to watch.
Even as disciples of Heavenly Buddha Temple, they would be unable to use spiritual energy inside the formation for the next half month.
The same restriction applied to spiritual artifacts.
This Great Wings Stall that completely ignored the formation’s suppression fascinated them.
“It’s pretty soft.”
One monk secretly reached out and touched it.
The texture felt surprisingly nice.
Just as he was about to continue, one wing suddenly flapped.
Smack!
The monk was sent flying directly into a temple wall.
Thud!
He slid down the wall and landed on the ground, clutching his backside in shock.
The wings could hit people?
And they hurt quite a bit.
Lu Wu blinked innocently.
She swore she hadn’t ordered that.
In fact, she had only just learned the wings could attack people.
“Ahem. He didn’t mean any harm. He just thinks you’re very beautiful and wanted to get closer to you. He wasn’t harassing you.”
“Monks don’t do that sort of thing.”
Lu Wu helped explain the situation to the wings.
The monk nodded frantically.
He had only been curious.
Monks did not lie.
The wings seemed to understand.
Soft feathers brushed gently against Lu Wu’s cheek as though acting spoiled.
Pretty intelligent, huh?
Lu Wu muttered inwardly.
As expected, products from the System were always top quality.
System: Hmph. Woman!
After witnessing what happened, nobody else dared touch the wings.
They could only admire them from afar.
Once the stall was set up, Lu Wu began organizing the ingredients she would need for the day.
When the menu sign was hung up, the monks crowded around the new milk tea options and started asking questions.
“Boss Lu, are these new milk teas? Are they as good as yesterday’s?”
Many of them still hadn’t had enough of yesterday’s drinks.
At lunchtime yesterday, anyone without a cup of milk tea in hand had become the laughingstock of the temple.
Even some of the senior monks had failed to escape that fate.
Boss Lu the Succubus truly lived up to her reputation.
“They each have their own strengths.”
Lu Wu explained.
The drinks she had selected were all classics. Any milk tea that remained popular for years naturally possessed unique merits of its own.
“Ah, I can’t wait!”
The monks buzzed with excitement and began lining up.
Thanks to Lu Wu’s special approval, Little Monk Tian Hui proudly stood at the very front under the jealous gazes of his fellow monks.
Soon, however, he fell into hesitation.
He wanted them all.
“Big Sister, can I have one of every kind?”
His clear, innocent eyes gazed at Lu Wu.
Lu Wu simply couldn’t bring herself to refuse.
The other customers were still climbing the mountain and wouldn’t arrive anytime soon.
Letting the monks drink a little extra wouldn’t hurt.
“Sure.”
She nodded.
Following Tian Hui’s request, she began with Yangzhi Ganlu (Mango Pomelo Sago).
Most people were familiar with this drink.
Its main ingredients were mango, pomelo, sago pearls, and coconut milk.
Lu Wu couldn’t find pomelo, but the Qingyuan World had a red bitter pomelo that tasted quite similar.
The tiny sago pearls soaked in cold water, settling at the bottom like transparent little pearls.
Peeling pomelo was usually tedious work.
But Lu Wu had magic.
The task was effortless.
As for the mango puree, she prepared it fresh on the spot by hand, guaranteeing genuine ingredients and authentic flavor.
