CMWKSD -Chapter 10 How Many Bones Does the Human Body Have

Chief Minister: My Wife Who Kills at the Slightest Disagreement 7 min read 10 of 266 52

The crowd gradually dispersed, and all the clamor and noise slowly returned to silence. The Ji family’s courtyard walls were built high; unless someone dragged over a stool to stand on, no one could simply crane their neck and see what was happening inside.

Hu Chunhua and the others retreated shakily back into the courtyard, their steps hurried as they tried to get into the house. With a smile on her face, Jiu Yue reached back and shut the courtyard gate.

With a bang, not too loud and not too soft. When she turned around, Jiu Yue’s expression darkened. Even though it was broad daylight, everyone in the courtyard still felt a chill run through them.

Ji Dahai glanced nervously at Ji Yiqing. Su Ruo hid behind Ji Yiqing and stammered, “Yiqing… you… you tell Jiu Yue not to be angry.”

The words had barely fallen when Hu Chunhua, who had just run to the front of the main hall, suddenly dropped to her knees, smashing into the doorstep and crying out in pain.

No one saw how Jiu Yue made her move. No one even knew how Jiu Yue, from such a distance, had forced Hu Chunhua to kneel.

At such an advanced age, Hu Chunhua knelt by the threshold, crying “ow, ow” over and over.

Jiu Yue walked past without even glancing at her, not sparing a single look for anyone in the courtyard. Ji Dahu desperately shrank backward, trying to minimize his own sense of presence.

At this moment, Ji Dahu deeply regretted not taking the chance to run out earlier. If this demon woman were so easy to deal with, he wouldn’t have narrowly escaped death once already.

Jiu Yue tossed a few small stones in her hand—throwing them up, then letting them fall heavily back into her palm. They felt weighty, just like the hearts of the people in the courtyard.

After crying out a few times and realizing no one was coming to help her up, Hu Chunhua caught sight of Jiu Yue approaching from the corner of her eye. Terrified, she scrambled and crawled, trying to rush into the house.

But to everyone’s surprise, Jiu Yue’s target wasn’t Hu Chunhua. Instead, she grabbed Ji Dahu, who was hiding by the wall, and yanked him to the ground.

Ji Dahu opened his mouth to scream, but Jiu Yue swiftly pulled out a silver needle from the hem of her trouser leg and stabbed it behind his ear. Ji Dahu lay on the ground, staring at Jiu Yue in horror, only then realizing that he could no longer make a sound.

Hu Chunhua stumbled forward, about to rush over and wail.

Then everyone saw Jiu Yue’s hands move rapidly over Ji Dahu’s arms and legs. In the deathly silent courtyard, only a series of bone-chilling cracking sounds echoed—ka, ka, ka.

Jiu Yue looked up at Hu Chunhua and smiled. “Shh. Don’t make a sound.”

Ji Dahu struggled frantically, stretching his arms and legs, only to find that they no longer obeyed him at all, hanging limply. He couldn’t even crawl, let alone stand up.

Jiu Yue squatted beside him, grabbed his hand—ka—set it back in place. Another ka, and it dislocated again, as though she’d found an amusing toy.

Shen Mei and the others covered their mouths desperately, afraid that a scream might slip out and displease Jiu Yue, subjecting them to the same torment as Ji Dahu.

Hu Chunhua staggered and threw herself down beside Ji Dahu, kicking up a cloud of dust. Jiu Yue waved her hand lightly, fanning it away, and looked cheerfully at Hu Chunhua. “Grandma, do you know how many bones an adult has…?” Afraid Hu Chunhua might not understand, Jiu Yue even pointed at Ji Dahu. “Like Second Uncle here—do you know how many bones he has?”

Hu Chunhua was so frightened by Jiu Yue’s twisted smile that goosebumps rose all over her body. She wanted to point at Jiu Yue, but recalling the terror of being nailed to the table at noon, she could only stutter, unable to get any words out.

Jiu Yue curved her lips into a smile. “Two hundred and six bones.”

As she spoke, she even stroked Ji Dahu’s hands and feet, as though what she had just disassembled and reassembled weren’t human bones at all.

Then everyone watched as Jiu Yue produced a knife from somewhere. Its shape was very peculiar, unlike any ordinary blade, yet it radiated an icy chill.

“My skills are very good,” Jiu Yue said lightly. “I can take you apart all the way down to the last bone, and Second Uncle still won’t die.”

Ji Dahu had already been scared into wetting himself. Jiu Yue made a disgusted sound, pinching her nose. “Alright, alright, my skills aren’t good. What if I take you apart and can’t put you back together? What’s Second Uncle afraid of?”

With a thud, Shen Mei fainted.

Only Ji Dajiang’s wife, Li Xiaocao, remained standing, holding two little girls.

Li Xiaocao stood there blankly, like a wooden puppet, as if everything happening in the courtyard had nothing to do with her. Jiu Yue glanced at her out of the corner of her eye and only then remembered who she was.

To be honest, although Li Xiaocao’s name was plain, her face was anything but—she was undeniably beautiful. It was just that years of hardship, combined with a complete lack of vitality, made even such beauty seem dull and uninteresting now.

Hu Chunhua bit her lip hard, wanting to kneel to Jiu Yue. Ji Yiqing, who had been standing guard nearby, supported her. Hu Chunhua looked at Ji Yiqing and grabbed his arm tightly. “Yiqing, talk to Jiu Yue for me. Grandma was wrong. Grandma won’t dare to talk nonsense ever again. Tell her to spare your Second Uncle. You can do whatever you want.”

Seeing that everyone’s attention was focused on Jiu Yue and Ji Yiqing, Ji Shan viciously grabbed the carrying pole leaning against the wall and crept toward Jiu Yue with light steps.

Jiu Yue seemed not to notice at all. Ji Shan was overjoyed, his eyes bloodshot. He raised the pole high and swung it down hard toward the back of Jiu Yue’s head.

Ji Yiqing turned his head to speak, and the moment he saw the pole, his voice cracked in terror. “Jiu Yue!”

No one saw how Jiu Yue stood up or extended her leg. They only saw Ji Shan slam into the wall with a bang, then slide down to the ground.

Jiu Yue kicked Ji Dahu, who reeked of urine, aside. “Oh? Grandpa doesn’t believe in my skills and wants to try them personally?”

The moment Ji Shan saw Jiu Yue’s face, he shrank back in terror. A devil! This person was a devil!

Ji Dahai might ignore Hu Chunhua, but he couldn’t ignore Ji Shan—after all, that was his own father. Trembling, he rushed over to Jiu Yue. “Jiu Yue, they all know they were wrong. Don’t hold it against them. Daddy will persuade them. From now on, they won’t dare talk nonsense again, and they won’t oppose you anymore.”

Jiu Yue hadn’t even used much force. These people really had no backbone at all. She turned her head to look at Ji Yiqing.

Ji Yiqing let out a breath of relief, thinking that Jiu Yue listened to him. He had told her she couldn’t kill people casually, and she really hadn’t killed anyone casually.

Although Jiu Yue’s methods were somewhat extreme, Ji Yiqing inexplicably felt that she lacked many emotions that ordinary humans possessed. She was like a blank sheet of paper, letting others paint on her at will.

Other than killing, she seemed not to care about anything else.

Ji Yiqing couldn’t help but think of assassins raised by certain martial organizations. Yet Jiu Yue’s methods were also very different from those of assassins.

Still, if guided properly, Jiu Yue seemed teachable.

And then another thought arose—if he didn’t guide her, what else could he do? The moment he agreed to be husband and wife with Jiu Yue, she had already decided that their relationship was special.

Unless Jiu Yue was willing to let him go, the two of them would probably be entangled for a lifetime.

Ji Dahu still lay on the ground. Ji Shan was there coughing nonstop, coughing up quite a bit of blood.
