Bureau of Paranormal Investigation: The Final Chapter 7 min read 95 of 108 1

Shen La didn’t believe the explosives strapped to the man’s body were real. He glanced at Sun Desheng, who had already hidden behind a filing cabinet, and said:

“Great Sage, this is an airport. How could he possibly bring in explosives and a timer?”

“La Zi, you’re too innocent. If I wanted to smuggle explosives into the airport, I can think of more than ten ways to do it.”

Seeing that Shen La still looked doubtful, Sun Desheng continued:

“You can take the detonator apart, bring the pieces in separately with other non-prohibited items, then hide them above the ceiling of some restroom and reassemble them.

As for the explosives, that’s even easier. There are plenty of chemical materials on the market that can be used to make them. Put them in a box and call them nutritional supplements—nobody will suspect a thing.

Half an hour in a restroom is enough to mix them together.

Brother, that’s how you did it, right?”

The man smiled at Sun Desheng.

“More or less. Chief Sun, it seems we think alike. No wonder everyone in our circle says that although the Min Tiao Bureau appears to rely on Director Wu Rendi, in reality it’s Chief Sun who keeps things running. We’re both smart people, so let’s not beat around the bush. Announce the end of the air traffic restrictions, and just as I said before, I’ll leave and never come back.”

“Deal.”

Sun Desheng picked up the radio, only then remembering that the signal had been jammed.

The man cooperatively disabled the signal jammer hidden on his body.

Sun Desheng spoke into the radio:

“Attention everyone. Shen La has already captured the suspect. Air traffic control restrictions are hereby lifted. Arrange for all flights to depart as soon as possible. I repeat—restrictions are lifted. Everyone can go home.”

Afterward, he forced a smile and said to the man:

“I’ve done what you asked. But shouldn’t you show some sincerity too? At least let me see your real face. I’d like to know who defeated me this time.”

“That’s unnecessary.”

The man slowly backed toward the door.

“After all, I’m never coming back. Chief Sun, you’ll probably never see me again. Before I board the plane, I’ll tell you where the explosives are hidden. Don’t let Shen—”

Before he could finish, the door behind him suddenly burst open.

Another “Shen La” rushed in from outside.

Without saying a word, he lifted his leg and kicked straight toward the fake general manager’s crotch.

This move had never failed before.

Yet somehow, the man had anticipated even this.

At the very instant the kick came, he sidestepped and dodged.

Seeing his attack miss, “Shen La” immediately switched to his second signature move and reached for the man’s eyes.

At that moment, Sun Desheng shouted at the top of his lungs:

“Don’t touch him! The brat’s wearing a bomb vest!”

Hearing the word “bomb,” “Shen La” quickly withdrew his hand.

Seizing the opportunity, the man shrugged off the vest strapped to his body and hurled it toward Sun Desheng.

Then he dashed out of the control room.

His final words before leaving were:

“There’s filling inside.”

Shen La reacted with lightning speed.

He caught the bomb vest and immediately threw himself to the ground, covering it with his body.

But after waiting for several moments, there was no explosion.

Just when he was beginning to think the bomb was fake, a strange sound emerged from beneath his stomach.

Terrified, the white-haired man, who had just started getting up, quickly flattened himself over the vest again.

Then a familiar melody played from underneath him:

“I have a little donkey, and I never ride it. One day I rode it to the market…”

The children’s song echoed through the room.

Shen La’s face instantly turned green.

He jumped up and disappeared from the spot in an instant.

Apparently, he’d gone after the man.

“Fatty, this is the bomb vest you were talking about?”

The other “Shen La” wiped his face and transformed back into Che Qianzi.

Picking up the vest from the floor, he walked over to Sun Desheng and handed it to him.

“Fatty, you’ve made such a huge fuss, and you still didn’t catch him.”

Ignoring Che Qianzi’s sarcasm, Sun Desheng carefully dismantled the vest.

After switching off the small speaker that had been playing the nursery rhyme, he discovered an electronic display behind it.

The timer showed two hours remaining until detonation.

Thirteen wires extended from the display and connected to the plastic explosives.

“So there really are explosives. Why go through so much trouble?”

Che Qianzi, seeing the explosives, hurried over and tried to drag Sun Desheng away.

He’d never heard of Fatty Sun knowing how to defuse bombs.

Judging from their size, they would probably only blow up the control room.

“Don’t touch me.”

“Brother, hurry and find Old Mo. Tell him I said to reopen the airport and get everyone out as quickly as possible. This time, I admit defeat.”

Staring at the mass of plastic explosives, Sun Desheng hesitated.

Then he picked up a letter opener from the desk and carefully scraped away part of the explosive material.

Inside, he discovered a metal sphere the size of a fist.

Of the thirteen wires connected to the timer, nine extended directly into the sphere.

After seeing the metal ball, Sun Desheng paused.

Then he took out his phone, snapped a picture, and sent it.

Che Qianzi showed no intention of leaving.

Instead, he called Old Mo and placed the phone beside Sun Desheng’s mouth.

Hearing Vice Director Mo’s voice, Sun Desheng said:

“Old Mo, the restrictions are lifted. Coordinate with the airport. Get as many flights out as possible within one hour. And don’t allow any more passengers to enter. After an hour, begin clearing the airport. Nobody can remain inside—”

Before he could finish, his own phone rang.

He immediately answered.

Without even using speakerphone, the furious roar from the other side could be heard clearly:

“Fatty Sun! Where’s the bomb?! Don’t touch it! Absolutely don’t touch it! Hurry and evacuate everyone nearby!”

Sun Desheng interrupted:

“Is it Hexachlorocyclohexane?”

“I thought that thing had been banned.”

The voice on the other side roared again:

“No shit! If it wasn’t that thing, would I be panicking like this? I’m holding a meeting at sea, damn it! I was about to fall asleep when your photo scared me awake. Fatty, the shell is right—it really is a Hexachlorocyclohexane casing—

Wait, why do I hear airport announcements? Don’t tell me you’re actually at an airport—”

Not wanting to be distracted, Sun Desheng simply hung up.

Then he smiled at Che Qianzi.

“Want to gamble? Do you think this Hexachlorocyclohexane is real or fake? If it’s real, half the airport will disappear. I’m betting it’s fake.”

Che Qianzi grabbed him and tried to pull him away.

“And you’re still thinking about gambling? Hurry up and run! You’ve got two hours—you can get far away.”

Sun Desheng waved him off.

“It’s just transporting corpses. Is that really worth such a massive operation? The shell alone costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. This whole job was probably worth only five or six hundred thousand yuan. Sigh… I got impatient. I shouldn’t have sent out that photo.”

As he spoke, Sun Desheng suddenly yanked all the wires out of the metal sphere.

Then he carefully opened it.

Inside was only a tiny slip of paper.

Written on it were six names along with their corresponding flight numbers.

At the very bottom was another name, written in large characters:

Sun Biyun.

Che Qianzi stared at the names and asked:

“What is this? Turning himself in? Sun Biyun was that person just now? Why does it sound like a woman’s name?”

Before Sun Desheng could answer, his phone rang again.

This time, it was Shen La.

As soon as the call connected, Shen La said:

“Great Sage, I caught him…”
