Dr. Hao Zhengnan…

Xiao Yifeng held a physician’s ID card in his hand. He compared it with the man in front of him, then smiled.

“We’ve met before. Do you remember me?” he said. “Three or four years ago, I brought my master here for a physical checkup—you were the doctor in charge. I didn’t expect you’d also have the ability to manipulate ghosts.”

Dr. Hao Zhengnan looked at him coldly.

“I remember. You brought Liu Shumin from Longmen Dunjia,” he said after a pause. “At the time you claimed you were a civil servant and Liu Shumin was your uncle. If I hadn’t seen Liu Shumin before, I might’ve actually been fooled by you—Director Xiao Yifeng.”

As he spoke, Hao Zhengnan suddenly thrust his hand into the chest of the ghost that looked exactly like Kong Dalong.

He stirred violently inside.

In an instant, the ghost’s body began to swell rapidly—then exploded silently into nothingness.

After eliminating the spirit in one move, Dr. Hao immediately changed expression, looking surprised.

“As a patient’s family member, visiting hours are over. Please come back tomorrow between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. I have to continue my rounds.”

Seeing him shift personalities so smoothly, Xiao Yifeng fell silent for a moment, then gave a bitter smile.

“I didn’t expect you’d handle it like this. Fine—I underestimated you.”

“You turned that ghost into nothing, so I have no evidence. I really can’t do anything to you.”

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” Dr. Hao said blankly. “I’m a materialist. I don’t believe in ghosts or gods. Please leave the inpatient area.”

“You’ll slip up eventually,” Xiao Yifeng said with a faint smile, then turned and left.

After confirming he was gone, Dr. Hao finally let out a long breath. His body sagged as he left the ward and went to the surveillance room. After checking the footage and confirming Xiao Yifeng had truly left the hospital, his tense nerves finally relaxed.

He made a brief appearance at the nurse station to clock in, then returned to his office.

From a hidden drawer, he took out a long incense stick and lit it. Watching the curling smoke spiral through the room, he confirmed nothing unusual was present. Only then did he feel relieved.

He extinguished the incense and carefully put it away, then took out his phone and dialed a number.

“Things went wrong,” he said urgently. “The ghost was seen through by Xiao Yifeng from Bureau Five. He was deliberately using it as a guide… I struck first and destroyed it in front of him. He has no evidence, so he left. But I’m exposed now—you need to get me out of here.”

“Mm… yes… I’ll book a flight to the United States immediately.”

After hanging up, he quickly booked a ticket for the next morning. Seeing the confirmation, he finally relaxed and began packing his passport and essentials.

Halfway through, a cough came from behind his desk.

Hao Zhengnan jumped in shock.

He turned around.

A red-haired man was sitting in his chair, smiling faintly at him.

Huoshan.

The moment he saw him, all the blood in Hao Zhengnan’s body went cold. He began trembling uncontrollably. He tried to speak, but his teeth clamped together so tightly he couldn’t utter a single word.

“You recognize me?” Huoshan said calmly, slightly surprised.

“If you know me, then things are easier.”

“I’m not Xiao Yifeng. I don’t need evidence to do things. He can’t do it—but I can.”

“Tell me—what happened to Kong Dalong’s soul? You can choose not to speak… then I’ll just ask your soul instead.”

Seeing Hao Zhengnan shaking uncontrollably, Huoshan frowned and casually struck out with his hand.

Slap!

The sound cracked through the room.

Hao Zhengnan was knocked to the ground, blood trickling from his nose and mouth.

But after the slap, his trembling stopped.

Huoshan nodded.

“Much better.”

“I don’t have time to waste. If you keep dragging this out, I’ll just pull out your soul and question it slowly. Don’t worry—I won’t make things hard for you if you cooperate. After all, it wouldn’t look good if word got out that I personally had to deal with you.”

Hao Zhengnan, terrified, immediately said:

“Great Master… please show mercy. I was ordered to do this. I—”

Before he could finish, his body suddenly stiffened.

His expression froze as if he had been sealed in ice.

Huoshan instantly sensed it—his soul was rapidly swelling inside.

Without hesitation, he formed a seal and pointed.

The soul was forcibly restrained just before it could explode.

In the next instant, Huoshan appeared in front of him and reached into his body, forcibly pulling the swollen soul out.

He exhaled a burst of cold air, freezing it in midair.

Then he inspected it—and found a talisman embedded in the soul’s chest.

A control spell.

Huoshan snorted coldly and reached to wipe it away.

But underneath it—there was another layer.

The moment he touched it, the trigger activated.

The soul instantly contracted inward, shrinking to the size of a fist—

Then exploded outward with terrifying force.

BOOM!

The entire doctor’s office collapsed in the blast.

Fortunately, it was night duty, so no one else was harmed. The explosion only drew the attention of nearby patients and nurses.

By the time they arrived, Huoshan walked out of the rubble covered in dust.

He vanished from sight in an instant.

A moment later, he reappeared inside a business car outside the hospital.

Xiao Yifeng was driving.

In the back seat sat another Great Master—Guangren.

Seeing his disciple’s disheveled appearance, Guangren smiled slightly.

“Got fooled?”

Huoshan gave an awkward smile.

“Not exactly a hawk… more like a sparrow. The person behind this already planned everything. That ghost was just bait. But the target wasn’t me—it was meant for people like Yang Jun or Yang Xiao.”

“If they took that hit, even their immortal bodies would’ve suffered severe damage. They might’ve ended up mentally ruined—immortality would become a burden instead.”

Hearing this, Xiao Yifeng’s expression changed slightly.

“I didn’t expect it to be this serious… I almost caused trouble for Master Huoshan.”

“You had no way of knowing,” Guangren said, handing him a tissue.

“Luckily it was Huoshan who acted. If you had gone in directly, the consequences would’ve been far worse.”

“Investigate this through Bureau of Supernatural Affairs channels. Be careful. And when you find the mastermind… hand them over to Wu Rendi.”
