The people inside Room 1201 were silent for a moment before speaking again.

“Is it only Sun Desheng? Has Wu Rendi appeared or not…”

The man in the big shorts hurriedly replied, “Sun Desheng did bring a few people with white hair, but Wu Rendi wasn’t among them. I’ve seen his photo—I can guarantee that. It was Shen La, Yang Jun, and Yang Xiao…”

Then he quickly recounted everything that had just happened on the ninth floor to the people in the room. Of course, in the end, he still fabricated a story about the Han brothers going upstairs to hold them off while the others stayed behind to delay Sun Desheng.

“My Wraith has been captured… that kid is quite capable.” The voice from inside the room finally relaxed slightly, then continued, “Don’t worry about them for now. Even if they want to reach this floor, they’ll need to go through some trouble. You should stay and help search for Kong Dalong. I can feel that old fox is nearby. I didn’t expect Kong Dalong alone to delay things this long…”

“If he wasn’t so difficult to deal with, those so-called Fangshi wouldn’t have come to us,” the fat woman said with a smile. “But those people are either dead or captured now. When we get Kong Dalong’s head, we won’t lose the promised heavenly treasures, and we won’t end up offending the Bureau, right?”

“Even if they die, they must hand over the treasures before they do,” the man inside the room gave a cold laugh. “The thirty-three promised heavenly treasures are already in Old Deng’s hands. He only recognizes the head. Once he sees Kong Dalong’s head, he will naturally hand over the goods. Enough—go search.”

The man and woman bowed toward the room. The man went to the front rooms, where four or five people were already conducting a thorough search of every room. The woman went up to the rooftop and joined three or four others there, continuing the search for Kong Dalong.

The entire building had already been thoroughly searched. Only these two areas remained as possible hiding places. Everyone knew Kong Dalong was cunning, but they couldn’t figure out where else he could be hiding. However, the person in Room 1201 could clearly sense that the old fox was nearby—yet he simply couldn’t be found.

As time ticked away, and Sun Desheng’s group could storm upstairs at any moment, the people in Room 1201 became increasingly anxious. At that moment, the formation he had set up below the twelfth floor reacted—someone on the eleventh floor was already moving up the stairs toward the twelfth.

Because he was worried that Sun Desheng’s group might detect his aura, he had placed an aura-blocking formation across the entire twelfth floor. Although the stairway alert had been triggered, he still couldn’t tell whether those coming up were Shen La or the two Yang brothers.

“What comes will come…” the man muttered as he walked out of Room 1201 and stood at the stairwell on the twelfth floor, staring at whoever might appear. Even he felt uncertain—setting aside the Yang brothers, could he really defeat Shen La? And what about that half-grown kid who had beaten down his Wraith… who exactly was he?

While he was thinking, two figures suddenly appeared on the stairs.

Not Sun Desheng’s group—but the Han brothers who had been left on the ninth floor to delay them.

The three of them froze.

The man from the room asked sharply, “Who told you two to come up as well? Weren’t you supposed to hold off Sun Desheng’s group? What happened?”

The two brothers looked equally confused. The elder, Han Sheng, said, “Mr. Lei, we never said we would hold them off… We did meet them earlier. We followed the plan and took the secret passage to the tenth floor to wait for them. As soon as we saw them, we activated the formation… but they never came to the tenth floor. It looked like they went upstairs, but they simply weren’t there. Later, one of us guarded the formation core while the other searched them out—but there was no trace on the ninth, tenth, or eleventh floors. They completely vanished. You didn’t send any Wraith to contact us either, so we thought they had already broken through and you were busy upstairs, which is why we came up to check…”

“They vanished into thin air…” Mr. Lei froze, then muttered to himself after a moment, “Could it be that something happened on the Bureau’s side and they were recalled? Am I actually this lucky?”

Before he finished speaking, chaotic noises suddenly came from the rooftop.

The fat woman rushed down in panic. “Helicopters! Helicopters are coming! They’re coming in from the sky—I saw several people with white hair on board! If this keeps up, we should retreat!”

Mr. Lei had calculated everything—but he never expected Sun Desheng had already left the An Da Building and brought in helicopters to descend from above. The formations he had painstakingly set up had instantly become useless.

“Just one step away!” he roared. “I’ll hold them off!”

He turned and headed toward the rooftop, shouting as he went, “You have half an hour. If you still can’t find Kong, then we all die together!”

But suddenly, he felt a sharp tightening in his chest.

He looked down—and saw a large copper nail piercing straight through his chest, its tip protruding out from his back.

When he turned around, the Han brothers were gone.

Standing there instead were… Yang Xiao and Yang Jun.

He should have known better than to set up an aura-blocking formation—otherwise he wouldn’t have suffered this loss…

Mr. Lei coughed in pain and gave a bitter smile. “The helicopter outside… is fake, right? You planned the timing so it would fly in and distract me so you could attack…”

“We should’ve come up earlier,” Yang Xiao said with a faint smile. “But those Han brothers were stubborn and wasted a lot of time. Fortunately, I’ve got a few tricks to make people talk.”

He and Mr. Lei had some old connection. Years ago, Lei Wenhe had indirectly helped him escape pursuit from Yang Xiao’s uncle. Because of that, Yang Xiao did not immediately kill him.

“No need to be polite,” Mr. Lei sneered weakly. “Do you really think Sun Desheng will let me go?”

He suddenly lunged forward despite the copper nail still embedded in his chest.

Yang Xiao’s last trace of mercy vanished instantly. He triggered the explosive inside the copper nail.

BOOM!

Mr. Lei was blown in half.

But before the two could even breathe, countless black shadows began pouring out from his remains like a flood.

Wraiths.

If it were just a few, Yang Xiao wouldn’t care at all. But now it was a tide—endless, overwhelming. Even someone as experienced as him felt a chill rise in his heart.

He fired four or five copper nails in rapid succession, blasting the remains into dust.

Yet the Wraiths still surged out like a flood.

Yang Jun swung his embroidered spring blade and cut down dozens in an instant—but he was still swallowed by hundreds of them.

In just a few breaths, the entire top-floor corridor and rooftop were completely filled with those black, surging figures.
