After lunch at the cafeteria, Gu Yihan and Hu Shan were walking back when Gu Yihan suddenly felt raindrops on her hand. Instinctively, she shook her hand.

She looked up to feel for rain—but it wasn’t raining!

Hu Shan, curious, watched her reaction and asked in confusion, “Xiaohan, what’s wrong?”

Gu Yihan smiled lightly. “Nothing, I just thought it was raining.”

Hu Shan raised her arm, pointing toward the sun. “With such a bright sun, how could it possibly rain?”

Gu Yihan smiled faintly. “I just felt a drop of water on my hand a moment ago.”

Hu Shan chuckled, scanning Gu Yihan’s hand. When she looked away, she suddenly exclaimed, “Xiaohan, why is your chest wet?”

Gu Yihan quickly looked down at her clothes. Seeing a damp patch on the left side, she hurriedly raised her arm to cover it.

Blushing, she said, “Let’s go quickly.”

Without waiting for a response, she quickened her pace toward the office.

Hu Shan, confused, ran to keep up with her.

Back at the office, Gu Yihan hurried to her desk. She took out a handkerchief from her bag and tucked it inside her clothes to absorb the moisture, so it wouldn’t drip everywhere.

Su Yonghong watched her flustered movements and pursed her lips.

Sister Min, noticing Gu Yihan’s actions, couldn’t help but laugh.

“Leaking milk?”

Everyone in their office was female. Except for Hu Shan, who was unmarried, the rest were married, so Sister Min spoke rather casually.

Gu Yihan nodded. “I don’t feel anything at all.”

Hu Shan, panting, returned to her desk, staring at Gu Yihan with astonishment. She hadn’t expected her to run that fast.

Hearing Sister Min, she turned to ask, “Leaking milk?”

Sister Min looked at her with amusement. “Once you’ve had a baby, this happens. Not only leaking milk, but there can also be swelling and pain.”

Hu Shan’s mouth opened slightly as she shook her head. “That’s… terrifying.”

Gu Yihan tentatively touched her chest. There were some hard spots. She was hoping to get home soon so the little one could help relieve the discomfort.

Su Yonghong’s eyes gleamed with a mischievous smile, deliberately trying to scare Hu Shan. “That’s the minor stuff. The scary part after giving birth is leaking urine… and getting hemorrhoids.”

Hu Shan’s face turned pale instantly. She was dating Cheng Bo, and they were discussing marriage. The thought of giving birth terrified her even more.

“What else is there?”

“Are you up to no good?” Sister Min interrupted Su Yonghong.

Su Yonghong rolled her eyes at Sister Min and clicked her tongue. “What, you didn’t leak urine after having a baby?”

Sister Min, annoyed, pointed at Su Yonghong. “Don’t be smug! Your daughter Zhang Xia is pregnant now, and all this will happen to her too.”

Sister Min was fed up with Su Yonghong. She had indeed leaked urine after giving birth to her son, but it had been treated over time.

Su Yonghong didn’t care whether Zhang Xia had problems. Ever since marrying, that stubborn girl hadn’t returned to her parents’ home. Now, she just liked to argue with Sister Min; the angrier the other got, the happier she felt.

Gu Yihan glanced at the gloating Su Yonghong.

“Sister Shan, don’t worry. It depends on your body type.”

Hu Shan’s eyes brightened. “Xiaohan, so you haven’t had any of the problems Su Jie mentioned?”

Gu Yihan shook her head. “No.”

Hu Shan quickly moved closer and whispered in her ear, “Do you have a secret remedy?”

She had heard from Cousin Jiang that Gu Yihan wasn’t an ordinary person.

Gu Yihan realized then why Hu Shan was so anxious. She looked at her suspiciously. “Sister Shan, you’re getting married?”

Hu Shan nodded shyly. “The date will be set soon.”

Gu Yihan chuckled. “After you have your baby, I’ll teach you exercises. They’ll help with recovery.”

Hu Shan hooked her little finger with Gu Yihan’s. “Pinky promise. No lying.”

“Deal.” Gu Yihan smiled and linked her pinky.

When work ended, Gu Yihan was the first to rush out of the office, heading for the bicycle parking area.

She had just reached the gate when Zhao Ju called out.

“Xiaohan.”

Gu Yihan saw Zhao Ju standing next to Shi Jianguo and smiled. “Sister Ju.”

Shi Jianguo scratched his head and laughed. “Thanks to you, sister-in-law.”

Gu Yihan waved her hand. “It’s just your luck, you two.”

Previously, Zhao Ju had arranged to go to the hospital for a check-up, but Shi Jianguo returned from a mission that afternoon.

Hearing Zhao Ju mention that Grandma Gu suspected she might be carrying twins, Gu Yihan immediately borrowed a car from the army unit and took Zhao Ju to the military hospital.

After carefully listening to the fetal heartbeats, the doctor told the couple that Zhao Ju was indeed carrying twins, though one of the babies had a weaker heartbeat and required frequent check-ups.

Zhao Ju linked her arm with Gu Yihan’s. “Xiaohan, no matter what, we have to thank you and Grandma Gu.”

Gu Yihan didn’t want thanks. Her chest was uncomfortable, and she wanted to go home quickly.

She hurriedly said, “Sister Ju, you’re carrying twins. Standing too long isn’t good for your health. Let’s go back to the family housing area.”

Zhao Ju smiled and nodded.

When they rode their bicycles back to the family housing area, they were startled by the crowd at the gate.

Why were there so many people?

“Xiaohan, look, there are several public security officers here too.”

Gu Yihan frowned but didn’t speak.

She then saw Song Zhi, her hair messy, grabbing a police officer. “Where’s the child?”

The officer pointed to a middle-aged woman standing aside, tightly holding a boy of about a year and a half.

Song Zhi, looking emotional, stepped forward to take the child, but the woman held on tightly.

The infant, frightened, began to cry loudly.

“Stop it!” the officer barked.

A young officer stepped forward, speaking coldly. “Give the child to Comrade Song.”

The woman, eyes red, grit her teeth. “This is my child!”

Song Zhi showed no trace of gentleness. Her expression was cold as she shouted, “You stole someone else’s child and have the nerve to act righteous?”

“I didn’t steal! The officers can testify!”

Zhao Ju stopped Gu Yihan from trying to get through the crowd and whispered, “Xiaohan, aren’t you going to watch the commotion?”

Gu Yihan shook her head. Her chest felt as hard as stone—she had no mood for gossip.

Looking at Zhao Ju’s belly, she cautioned, “Sister Ju, you’re almost due. You shouldn’t be in crowded places.”

Shi Jianguo quickly added, “Yes, wife, let’s listen to sister-in-law.”

Although Zhao Ju was curious, thinking of her babies’ safety, she followed Gu Yihan’s advice, and the three of them bypassed the crowd to head back to the family housing area.
