Military District Hospital — Dr. Wei’s Office
“You’ve completely lost your mind! You’re treating your own future like a joke!”
Dr. Wei sat in his office chair, his face livid as he roared at Shen Yujie standing before him.
“Teacher, I…” Shen Yujie tried to explain.
Dr. Wei cut him off immediately.
“I don’t want to hear it! What could you possibly say? That you didn’t know that woman was married?”
“She’s in a military marriage! Do you have any idea how serious this is?”
“During this sensitive period, even a hint of bad conduct can ruin someone’s career—and she’s a military spouse!”
Dr. Wei slumped back into his chair, rubbing his temples. He had just finished a major surgery when President Qin urgently summoned him.
When he first learned that his prized student had committed such a serious offense, his first reaction was disbelief.
But with so much evidence laid out before him, he had no choice but to accept the truth.
President Qin sighed helplessly and stepped forward to pat Dr. Wei on the shoulder.
“Old Wei, I know you had high hopes for Shen Yujie.”
“But the military authorities are pressing hard on this matter. They’re demanding strict punishment.”
After sighing, President Qin continued, “For your sake, I won’t issue a hospital-wide public criticism.”
“But Shen Yujie must be stripped of his military status and cannot stay in the military hospital.”
Dr. Wei couldn’t bear to see the student he had trained with his own hands lose his entire future.
With a pleading look, he said anxiously, “President, our hospital is already short of talented doctors.”
“Shen Yujie graduated from medical university. His foundation is solid, and he’s handled complex surgeries independently with excellent results.”
“Could you do me a favor and let him start over here as an intern?”
President Qin rejected him firmly.
“Old Wei, it’s not that I won’t give you face. The military is applying pressure. He has to go.”
“You know how serious this is. Our military hospital exists to serve soldiers who risk their lives on missions.”
“But look at what your student did.”
“If everyone were like him, how could those soldiers have peace of mind?”
“That’s the final decision. You may leave.”
After a pause, he added, “The fact that Shen Yujie can walk away unscathed is only because that soldier chose to show him mercy.”
Seeing that President Qin’s attitude was resolute, and that he had no intention of continuing the discussion, Dr. Wei could only leave in exhaustion.
He returned to his office and asked his assistant to call Shen Yujie over.
That was how the earlier scene came about.
At this moment, Dr. Wei didn’t even want to open his eyes and look at Shen Yujie. He was afraid he wouldn’t be able to control himself and would slap him.
With his eyes closed, he said, “Your family is in the capital. I’ll transfer your files back there.”
“With your family connections, you should be able to find work at an ordinary hospital.”
He opened his eyes and looked at Shen Yujie with complicated emotions.
“There’s another option.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “There’s a factory hospital at the machinery plant in Kun City. They’re short of doctors. You can go there. I’ll transfer your records wherever you choose.”
A struggle flashed through Shen Yujie’s eyes.
There was still no news from Qiao Shuhui in the military family compound. He couldn’t put his mind at ease.
In the end, he chose to stay in Kun City.
“Teacher, I want to stay in Kun City.”
Hearing his choice, a trace of mockery appeared at the corner of Dr. Wei’s mouth.
He closed his eyes again, extinguishing the last bit of hope in his heart.
This student was completely ruined.
All his years of careful training had been wasted.
In a cold, emotionless voice, Dr. Wei said, “So you still want to keep entangled with that woman who ruined you.”
“Get out. Don’t ever say you’re my student again.”
“I don’t have a student who doesn’t know what’s good for him and lets himself be blinded by a woman.”
Shen Yujie’s body shook violently when he heard that his teacher was disowning him.
His eyes reddened.
“Teacher, I followed you from the moment I graduated. If you won’t acknowledge me, I’ll still acknowledge only you for the rest of my life.”
Dr. Wei suddenly opened his eyes, grabbed the cup on his desk, and smashed it at Shen Yujie’s feet.
The porcelain shattered into pieces.
He roared, “Get out!”
Seeing his teacher lose control in anger, Shen Yujie didn’t dare provoke him further.
With a dejected expression, he slowly walked out of the office.
