Seeing her, Prince Yu could not help but recall that today’s events had all started because of this very person. His expression darkened instantly.

“Steward, bring her over!”

“Yes!”

The steward led the young girl into the main hall. Feng Jingge, Xiao Jinghan, and Prince Yu were seated in their respective positions.

The steward glanced around nervously and quickly bowed before retreating.

As he was about to leave, Feng Jingge spoke.

“Close the door.”

The steward froze for a moment, then hurriedly shut all the doors.

When the last door closed heavily, the light in the hall dimmed slightly, and the atmosphere grew stifling.

The young girl stood with her head lowered, fingers tightly twisted together, her face full of unease.

“What is your relationship with those two?” Feng Jingge asked.

“R-Replying to my lord…”

Upon hearing the voice, Xi Liyue raised her head, quickly glanced at Feng Jingge, then immediately lowered it again. Her words came out hesitantly.

“I… I don’t know them.”

Feng Jingge narrowed her eyes slightly. “They said you are their younger sister.”

Xi Liyue panicked and shook her head quickly.

“No, no, that’s not true!”

“I am the daughter of a village woman outside the city. I came into the city with my mother that day and accidentally ran into those two. I really don’t know them at all.”

Daughter of a village woman?

Feng Jingge and Xiao Jinghan exchanged a glance.

“They wanted to capture me. When I ran away, I happened to bump into the Prince.”

At this, Xi Liyue cautiously lifted her head again and stole a glance at Prince Yu.

Coincidentally, Prince Yu had been staring at her the entire time.

Their eyes met.

Xi Liyue froze for a moment, then immediately lowered her head again.

Prince Yu’s mansion had nearly been burned down, and he himself had almost been killed—all of it was because of this woman. His anger surged again.

He glared at her fiercely, grinding his teeth.

“So you followed this Prince and even pretended to be the steward’s niece?!”

“No, no!” Xi Liyue’s eyes turned red.

Sobbing, she said, “I just rested for a while, and then I was caught and taken into the kitchen by the steward.”

“I originally wanted to leave, but when I reached the door, I saw those two men wandering outside the mansion.”

“I was scared… so I had no choice but to keep hiding in the kitchen.”

Prince Yu hated nothing more than women crying.

Seeing her tearful eyes and trembling voice, his irritation only grew, anger surging higher and higher.

“You think I’m an idiot you can fool?!”

“How could such coincidences exist in this world?!”

“Steward!”

Prince Yu became more and more agitated. “Steward! Throw her out of the manor!”

The steward quickly entered upon hearing the shout.

Xi Liyue collapsed onto her knees, terrified.

“Your Highness, please, I was wrong! Please don’t drive me out!”

Feng Jingge frowned, about to speak, but a hand suddenly held hers.

She looked down and saw Xiao Jinghan shaking his head slightly, signaling her not to interfere.

Feng Jingge pressed her lips together.

“Your Highness…” Xi Liyue crawled forward while crying uncontrollably.

The steward stood there helplessly.

Prince Yu, seeing the steward’s hesitation, roared in fury.

“Are my words nothing but wind in your ears?! Get her out!!”

Startled, the steward quickly dragged Xi Liyue away.

“Your Highness—!”

“Your Highness—!”

Her voice faded as she was dragged out, still calling out desperately.

The door closed.

Silence returned.

Inside the hall, only Feng Jingge, Xiao Jinghan, and Prince Yu remained. None spoke.

The hall was so quiet one could hear a pin drop.

Prince Yu gradually calmed down, the anger on his body dissipating.

He returned to his seat, picked up his tea, and drank it in one gulp.

Only then did he realize the tea had long gone cold.

Feng Jingge observed his changing expression—anger, calmness, then a trace of emptiness.

A faint smile tugged at her lips.

Suddenly, her hand was held again.

Xiao Jinghan traced words lightly on her hand.

Feng Jingge understood immediately and spoke.

“Earlier, when I fought those two men, I noticed from their skills that they are from Western Ling.”

Prince Yu, who had been somewhat dazed, immediately looked up.

“Western Ling people?!”

Feng Jingge nodded.

He stood abruptly.

“The ones who set fire to this Prince’s courtyard?!”

“Yes.”

Prince Yu began pacing back and forth in the hall, hands behind his back.

He could tolerate Western Ling people entering Great Jin, even entering the capital—after all, Great Jin was a land of etiquette. Visitors were acceptable if they had proper documents.

But what he could not tolerate was this:

Western Ling people had infiltrated his Prince Yu Manor as servants—and even burned down his residence!

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. The fire in his chest reignited.

He started cursing again in front of Feng Jingge and Xiao Jinghan.

“Those Western Ling dogs are simply lawless—!”

Halfway through, he suddenly stopped.

Something seemed to click in his mind.

He turned to look at them.

“Wait… those two were chasing her into the manor. How is she connected to Western Ling people?”

Feng Jingge did not intend to hide Xi Liyue’s identity and repeated what Xiao Jinghan had told her.

“The youngest daughter of the Western Ling King, Xi Liyue, has been missing since last month.”

Prince Yu stiffened.

His eyes were full of disbelief.

“You mean…”

“She is—?”

Feng Jingge replied meaningfully, “Whether she is or not… needs further investigation.”

After a moment of silence, Prince Yu asked again.

“So she will stay here?”

“That depends on you.”

After some thought, Prince Yu decided to let Xi Liyue stay in the manor for now.

If her identity was confirmed, and she truly was the Western Ling royal daughter, they would inform Western Ling to send someone to retrieve her.

If not… they would deal with it later.

After the discussion ended, Feng Jingge and Xiao Jinghan stood up and left.

Inside the carriage after leaving Prince Yu Manor, Feng Jingge finally voiced her doubts.

“How could the Western Ling princess end up missing—and so coincidentally appear in our capital?”

“Could there be some conspiracy behind it?”

“No conspiracy.” Xiao Jinghan glanced at her lightly. “She simply fell into someone’s scheme and ended up wandering outside.”

Feng Jingge’s eyes lit up instantly. “You know the details?”

Xiao Jinghan replied calmly, “Do you still remember what I told you earlier about the Western Ling King being seriously ill?”

Feng Jingge nodded quickly.

“You also said Western Ling posted imperial notices seeking physicians from all over the world.”
