After the Soul Swap: The Regent Prince Went on a Rampage in the Inner Court 6 min read 6 of 12 3

This kind of situation was probably unprecedented—and unlikely to ever happen again.

Xiao Jinghan coldly spat out two words, “As you wish. However, I must remind you—this is the first time I’m sparing your life. If there’s a next time…”

“Xiao—” Feng Jinge had just stepped over the threshold when she looked up—and froze on the spot.

A complete mess.

Xiao Jinghan’s face was dark and gloomy. Liu Qingqing lay on the ground. The screen had shattered into pieces…

The atmosphere in the room had already dropped to freezing point.

Feng Jinge swallowed nervously, quietly withdrew the foot she had just stepped in with, and, taking advantage of the fact that the two inside hadn’t noticed her yet, prepared to slip away.

But just as she turned around, a choking sob came from behind her.

“Wang…ye… Your Highness…”

Feng Jinge’s body stiffened, her steps halting.

“Your Highness, save… save me…”

Feng Jinge: “…”

She turned back stiffly.

At some point, Liu Qingqing—who had been lying on the ground groaning—had already sat up. Her delicate hand reached out toward Feng Jinge, her beautiful eyes misty with tears.

Feng Jinge: “…”

Seeing that “the prince” had stopped and turned to look at her, Liu Qingqing knew she had successfully drawn his attention. She immediately tried to stand up—but accidentally stepped on her skirt.

The next moment, she stumbled and fell straight to the ground.

At the instant she fell, Feng Jinge heard her cry out “Your Highness.”

The call made her heart skip a beat.

After falling, Liu Qingqing ignored the pain and crawled over to Feng Jinge’s legs. Reaching out, she grabbed onto her robe and choked out:

“Your Highness, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have come here. I know my status is low—I shouldn’t have provoked Miss Feng. Everything is my fault…”

By this point, Liu Qingqing was crying so hard she could barely breathe, her slender body trembling like a leaf.

She looked as though she had suffered a great injustice.

Feng Jinge: “…”

Did she really have to go this far?

Why did it feel so… overly dramatic?

But…

She liked it!

Though someone else probably had a face as dark as the bottom of a pot right now.

Feng Jinge curled her lips slightly and glanced sideways at Xiao Jinghan.

Just as she expected, his expression had turned so gloomy it looked like it might fall off his face.

The smile on Feng Jinge’s lips deepened. Just as she was about to speak, Liu Qingqing started her tearful act again:

“Your Highness, isn’t Miss Feng supposed to be serving by your side as a guilty servant? If that’s the case, why didn’t she kneel and pay respects when she saw you just now?!”

As she spoke, Liu Qingqing couldn’t help but glance repeatedly at Xiao Jinghan.

Feng Jinge: “…”

She had only wanted to watch the show—but somehow, she had become part of it.

Make Xiao Jinghan kneel to her?

Was she tired of living?

But given Xiao Jinghan’s current identity as “Feng Jinge,” not kneeling didn’t make sense either. She had to think of a way to smooth things over.

She glanced at Xiao Jinghan, and an idea quickly formed.

Feng Jinge let out a cold laugh and sneered, “Make her kneel? Do you think I’m not already unlucky enough?”

Liu Qingqing froze, clearly not expecting the prince to say such a thing.

Looking up, she saw nothing but disgust in his eyes.

A flicker of joy rose in her heart, and she quickly said, “It was my oversight.”

Feng Jinge ignored her and instead looked at Xiao Jinghan, her tone cold as she issued a warning:

“Feng Jinge, remember your current status. In my residence, you’re nothing more than a lowly maid. Putting on airs in front of me? Are you showing attitude to me?”

Xiao Jinghan lifted his eyes, glanced at her, then quickly lowered his head and replied softly, “I wouldn’t dare.”

Seeing Xiao Jinghan look like a wronged little wife, Feng Jinge felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction.

She didn’t dare press him further. Knowing when to stop, she shifted her focus and pointed her blade at Liu Qingqing instead.

“If I remember correctly, this is Qingxin Residence—Feng Jinge’s temporary lodging in the manor. If you’re not staying in your own courtyard, what are you doing here?”

Questioning her?

Liu Qingqing’s brows twitched—but this was perfect. She had already prepared her explanation.

“Replying to Your Highness, I heard that Miss Feng—”

“Without my permission, you are not allowed to step foot here. If you violate this, you will be expelled from the manor!”

Feng Jinge cut her off coldly.

Liu Qingqing was stunned. She was already injured like this, yet not only did the prince not show concern, he even spoke harshly as always.

And as for Feng Jinge—despite all her accusations, the prince had dismissed everything with just the word “unlucky”!

Feng Jinge said coldly, “What are you standing there for? Get lost! Or do you want me to have Ning An escort you out?!”

Liu Qingqing bit her lower lip, unwilling but forced to say, “I take my leave.”

After exiting Qingxin Residence, Liu Qingqing slowed her hurried steps and lowered her head. Suddenly, a voice rang in her ears, and her face turned pale. Her hands clenched tightly within her sleeves.

“Mad—”

Seeing something was wrong, the maid exchanged a glance with another before speaking.

But before she could finish a single word, Liu Qingqing suddenly turned around and slapped her hard across the face.

The maid was completely stunned.

Liu Qingqing glared furiously. “You lowly servant—did I permit you to speak?!”

The maid shook her head rapidly like a rattle drum.

Seeing this, Liu Qingqing’s anger surged wildly. She was about to kick her—but her gaze unintentionally fell on the words “Qingxin Residence” not far away.

Thinking that Xiao Jinghan might come out at any moment, she bit down hard, forced herself to lower her raised foot, shot a hateful glance toward Qingxin Residence, and then turned to leave.

“Looks like the women in the inner courtyard are not to be trifled with.”

Feng Jinge muttered to herself. She had witnessed everything that happened outside just now.

She had to admit—Liu Qingqing’s ability to change expressions was truly impressive.

And that final hateful look when she left… it was so vicious, as if she wanted to skin someone alive to vent her anger.

Clearly, she had taken a grudge against her.

“Did you come to see me for something?”

Xiao Jinghan’s voice suddenly rang out.

Startled out of her thoughts, Feng Jinge let out a scream and shuddered.

Looking up and seeing it was him, she rolled her eyes in irritation. “Are you a ghost? Don’t you make any sound when you walk?”

Xiao Jinghan pressed his lips together and shot her a cold glance.

Feng Jinge: “…”

Would’ve been nice in summer—built-in air conditioning.

Too bad it wasn’t summer yet.

Seeing that he had spoken but Feng Jinge didn’t respond, still lost in thought, the coldness in Xiao Jinghan’s eyes deepened. “I said—”

Feng Jinge suddenly snapped back to reality and blurted out, “I’ve decided to run away.”

Xiao Jinghan: “?”

Feng Jinge: “?!!!”

She—she had actually blurted out what was on her mind!!!
