Zhou Song is a quiet, solitary farmer from Qishan Village. No parents, no siblings, no drama—he’s lived his entire life with a hoe in hand and zero interest in marrying.
Until one day, a new person moves into the village: a delicate-looking young lord from the city whose family has fallen into decline. Rumors swirl. He’s refined, soft-spoken, and smells faintly of orchids.
Most shockingly? He’s a Kunze—an omega, in a world where even rural folks know how rare and precious that is.
Zhou Song lays eyes on him once… and suddenly, that quiet life doesn’t seem so appealing anymore.
Why I Picked This Up
I was really curious because—let’s be honest—have you ever read an ABO novel set in ancient China?
Most ABOs are in sci-fi or interstellar worlds with spaceships and hovercars. This was the first ancient-style ABO I’ve ever read, and that novelty alone pulled me in.
The gender system is still the familiar six-gender one (ABO for both males and females), but it’s wrapped in old-style farming clothes and small-village gossip. Super unique vibe.
What I Thought
Honestly? This story was fine—not great, not terrible, just okay. The concept had so much potential, but the execution felt too shallow.
It’s a short novel (only 72 chapters), and while it’s sweet and relaxing, there’s barely any drama or tension. They meet, flirt, marry, and… that’s it. The major moments are dealt with in a few paragraphs.
I kept waiting for some big twist or challenge—family backlash, social resistance, a misunderstanding—but it never came. Everything was resolved before it began.
For readers who want a super low-stakes fluff read with gentle domestic life, this might be perfect. But for me, it felt a little too still.
Also, I suspect there might be prequels or sequels because a few threads were left hanging, but I haven’t looked those up yet.
Final Thoughts
✅ First ancient ABO I’ve ever read
✅ Simple, slice-of-life love story
❌ Too quick and light for my taste
❌ Won’t reread
Still, I don’t regret reading it. The concept alone was refreshing. If you’re in the mood for something soft, short, and stress-free, this one might be worth your time.
