I’m giving this novel a solid 4/5. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ While I might not reread it, I was completely hooked the first time through. The concept is refreshingly different from your typical BL novels. In fact, the BL element is more of a side story—the real heart of this novel lies in the MC’s journey through various fantastical worlds. The ML? Honestly, he felt more like a supporting character, and I didn’t mind it one bit because the focus was exactly where it needed to be.
Each world the MC traveled to was beautifully crafted, full of mythical creatures, ancient legends, and unique twists on well-known stories. And then, after all these adventures, he finally returned to his own world. That last arc? It tied everything together perfectly. All the lingering questions, all the mysteries—it was incredibly satisfying to watch them unfold.
The novel really hits you with that deep, existential truth: You never truly understand the value of something until you lose it. The gods, after witnessing the endless cycle of life and fate, eventually realized the meaninglessness of their existence. Instead of trying to control destiny, they made a choice—to step back and entrust everything to humans. And what did humans do? They proved their strength. 💪 No matter how small or insignificant we may seem in the grand scheme of things, we have our own power, our own meaning. We matter. And sometimes, just knowing that is enough to live happily.
One of my favorite moments was when the MC sacrificed himself to unite the Human Emperor and the Dragons. 🐉👑 It was such an epic, bittersweet moment that made me think—what if something like that had actually happened in history? The way the story wove mythology and philosophy together was chef’s kiss perfection.
This novel might not be for everyone, especially if you’re expecting a strong romance focus, but if you love immersive world-building, deep themes, and a protagonist who changes fate itself, then you need to read this. 💖
