đ The Cannon Fodder and Villainâs Happy Ending â Whoâs the Real Villain Here? đ¤

So, I actually liked this novel, but at the same time, it left me with a weird feeling. You know that vibe where the real villains arenât the ones being labeled as villains? Yeah, thatâs exactly what I felt about FL and ML. Everything just magically worked out for them, every person they met either loved them, admired them, or went completely insane because of them. It was like the whole world revolved around them while everyone else was just there to be stepping stones. đŤ
And honestly, I always say that everyone is the protagonist of their own story, which means there have to be other cannon fodder suffering in the background. The princesses in this novel? Yeah, they definitely got that treatment. I wouldnât be surprised if one of them got reborn or transmigrated just to drag FL off her high horse. đ
Now, letâs talk about the villains (or rather, the real protagonists?). Wang Yu and MLâs half-brother were built up as important characters, but then⌠nothing. They barely had a presence. What even happened to FLâs sisters?? And the third house of FLâs family? Completely missing for almost the entire novel. It really felt like the world only existed for FL and ML, and everything else just conveniently faded into the background.
And speaking of Wang Yu, the supposed villainâletâs be real, was he actually a villain? He was supposed to inherit the throne, but at the last moment, it got transferred to someone else, and he got banished. Of course, he retaliated! Iâm not saying what he did was right, but itâs outrageous to think heâd just accept it and walk away peacefully. Winners write history, after all. How sure is FL that MLâs family didnât actually do anything shady to get that throne? The way the story conveniently makes all of FLâs enemies dumb the moment she shows up is just too convenient. đ¤ˇââď¸
Now, letâs talk about the REAL ML â the Second Prince.
If there was one truly pitiful character in this novel, it was him. đ From what I understood, he was perfectly fine until his adoptive sister started whispering things into his ear. So what does that mean? Was he destined to be controlled by the plot? Was he always going to make the same mistakes no matter what? Or did he just suddenly become stupid because FL and MLâs OP halo warped reality? Either way, he went from a promising prince to a total mess.
And letâs not forget the prince from the neighboring countryâa true cannon fodder. Dude kept his promises, took on every challenge, got completely misunderstood, and thenâboomâimprisoned. đ¤Śââď¸ Itâs frustrating to see characters like him be tossed aside like that. I know itâs wrong, but winners write history. And in this case, ML and FL were definitely the winners.
At the end of the day, the novel had an interesting concept, but it was flawedâso many gaps, so many missing characters, and too much plot armor. Would I read it again? Nope. 3/5 stars âââ. Itâs fun if you donât think too much, but if you start questioning things, youâll end up like meâfrustrated and ranting. đ
What about you? Did you get the same suspiciously overpowered couple vibes from FL and ML? Or were you okay with how things played out?
