I picked this up right after finishing Recommending Myself for Marriage. Honestly, it was… just okay. 🤷♀️ It had so much potential, but the execution fell short.
The story started strong with the FL’s struggles in her adopted family and her decision to break ties with them. 👏💔 But once she moved in with the ML, things became inconsistent. The pacing was all over the place—sometimes speeding through events 🚀 and other times dragging on endlessly 🐢.
Several major plot points were left unresolved, which was frustrating. 😤 For example, what happened to Dong and Li Shen? 🤔 They seemed crucial early on but completely vanished from the story after she left her adopted family.
The storytelling felt like a rushed bedtime tale—“this happened, and then that happened, the end.” 🛌📖 The most important twist, where the FL is revealed as the emperor’s long-lost daughter and a princess 👑, was barely touched upon in the final chapter. It was glossed over so quickly it left me wondering if the author just wanted to wrap things up and move on.
Even worse, the emperor never learns that his adopted daughter knew the truth about the FL being his real daughter! That would have been such a juicy confrontation! 😮👀
In the end, it felt like the author lost interest and threw together an ending without much care. If you’re looking for a short read with lots of plot holes, this might work for you. 🤷♂️
