I’m giving this novel 3 out of 5 stars, and that’s purely for the storyline—it had potential! 🌟 But there were some glaring issues that kept me from fully enjoying it.
The ML’s ability to hear only selective thoughts from the FL was frustrating. 🤯 It felt like the author used it as a deliberate plot device—he only heard what was convenient for the story. Meanwhile, there were so many crucial moments where her thoughts could’ve been heard but weren’t. And don’t get me started on the lack of clarity around the distance limit! How could he hear her from the bottom of the stairs, behind doors, or even downstairs? Yet at other times, it didn’t seem to work. 🤷♀️
The FL felt overly plot-driven. She treated everyone around her as actual people… except for the ML and the villains. To her, they were like puppets, doing only what the story demanded. It made her character feel inconsistent, even foolish at times. 😓
And the system—oh boy, Xiao A! 🤦♀️ The system was barely present in the story, making it easy to forget it even existed. If it had been integrated more, it could’ve explained the FL’s actions better. For example, how cool would it have been if the system had tricked the ML into hearing the FL’s thoughts as part of a larger plotline? That would’ve tied things together nicely!
Now, let’s talk about Jiang Hui. 😤 He’s hands-down my least favorite character. An absolute villain through and through! His arrogance was off the charts, and he didn’t just antagonize the leads—he even punished his own son! What a cruel, selfish man. Honestly, I’d love a sequel where his son gets a chance to rebirth or transmigrate and completely destroy him. That would be so satisfying! 😈🔥
On the positive side, the translation was good, and the fast-paced timeline matched the overall tempo of the story. It kept things moving, which I appreciated. ⏩ While the novel’s logic was flawed, it’s a decent pick if you’re looking for a romance with tangled emotions. 💕
