I-Dont-Want-To-Be-Reborn

Alright, here we go. I Don’t Want to Be Reborn is one of those novels where, honestly, I had a lot of mixed feelings. 😬 I mean, it was fine? But I didn’t love it. Let me break it down for you.

So, the premise is pretty cool:
Ye Xuan is a guy who’s spent ten years surviving the apocalypse. He’s got this wood-type ability and has been through it all — moral collapse, battles, multi-party fights — and just as he’s thinking about whether he wants to grow watermelon or apples for dinner 🍉🍎 (living that post-apocalyptic dream), he gets hit with some white light and BOOM, he’s back in time before the world ended. Classic “What the heck?!” moment. 🤯

Naturally, Ye Xuan’s first thought is: WTF! Please don’t send me back!
But guess what? A few months later, he’s like, “Okay, being reborn is kinda cool… maybe.” 😂

What I Liked 👍

  • Ye Xuan: He’s not your typical goody-two-shoes, and that’s refreshing. He’s more of a “do whatever I feel like doing” kind of guy, which gives him a bit of an edge. He’s soft to his close ones but not out here trying to save the world. I dig that vibe.
  • Survival Stuff: The whole apocalypse vibe, surviving with powers, and making things work after chaos — it had its moments where I was like, “Okay, this is fun!” The whole wood-power thing was a nice twist that I don’t see often in other apocalypse novels. 🌱

What Didn’t Work for Me 😕

  • The Ending: Oof. This is where things went downhill fast. The whole novel was pretty chill with decent pacing — but then, the ending? It felt way too rushed. Like, the author built up the town chapters over 8-10 parts, and then boom, the ending was wrapped up in 2 or 3 chapters. It just didn’t hit the right notes for me. 💥
  • Lack of Excitement: I’ve read plenty of apocalypse novels, and this one just didn’t have the same excitement or intensity I’ve come to expect. I was waiting for something big to happen, but honestly, it felt like the whole novel just coasted along. Not bad, just… kind of meh. 😴

Final Thoughts 🤔

It’s one of those novels where you can definitely pass the time reading it, but don’t expect to be totally hooked or on the edge of your seat. The ending didn’t do it justice, and it could’ve been so much better if the pacing was a bit more consistent. So, I’m giving this one 3 stars 🌟🌟🌟. It’s fine for a one-time read, but I wouldn’t call it a must-read.

If you’re in the mood for a light, chill apocalypse story with a bit of power use, go ahead, but don’t expect the thrill you’d get from other similar novels.

Have you read this one? What did you think of the ending? Let’s chat! 😊
