👻 What I Loved About This Novel
First of all, I love novels that combine the Nether World and Human World. I’ve only read two others before this that really hooked me, and this one became the third.
This isn’t a rebirth or transmigration trope—it’s about humans with yin-yang eyes or special constitutions. Though, there is reincarnation planned by so-called gods for both MC and ML, which adds a twist.
The romantic arc between Lan He and the ML was genuinely sweet and well-paced. Their relationship develops naturally, with comedy and warmth sprinkled throughout.
And ohhh the comedy—absolutely on point. Especially when people find out, one by one, that Lan He is actually the Grim Reaper. Those reveals are pure gold.
🏮 Supernatural Elements & Spirits
One of the best parts of this novel is its unique take on spirits, household deities, and local gods—what in Hindi we’d call Kul Devta.
Lan He ends up with an assortment of them, each with their own quirks:
- 🦔 Hedgehog Spirit – my absolute favorite. So introverted you wouldn’t believe, but hilariously extroverted within his own community.
- 🦊 Foxes – sly, mysterious, and an integral part of the story.
- 🐍 Snake Spirit – honestly, this one was hilarious. Always hungry for romance, and at one point even forces the ML and MC to kiss. (Don’t worry, they were already in a relationship—it was dangerous but also super funny and adorable!)
The mix of comedy, supernatural folklore, and slice-of-life entertainment industry drama made this novel unforgettable.

I absolutely, absolutely love, love, love this novel.
It balances romance, comedy, supernatural mystery, and heartfelt moments so perfectly. The blending of the Nether World with the Over World keeps things exciting, while the quirky spirits bring charm and humor to every chapter.
