Ren Yanju went to ask Zhou Xusi again, but Zhou Xusi refused.
Don’t ask why—it’s just “inconvenient.”
If the setting were any different, Ren Yanju would have retorted: Aren’t you single? What’s inconvenient?
But he couldn’t say that here.
There were guests all around; asking such a thing would be extremely rude.
Ren Yanju couldn’t help cursing the unreliable groomsman in his mind.
If it weren’t for that groomsman dropping out last minute, none of this would have happened.
After being rejected one after another, Ren Yanju had lost all patience.
Finally, after much coaxing, he managed to bring in someone sturdy.
Though this substitute couldn’t compare to Ren Yanjing—or even Zhou Xusi—in height or looks, he was carefree and said he’d fully cooperate with any game or event.
Fine, he would do.
For Tang Zhen, this was her first time witnessing such a lively, extravagant wedding prelude.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen went up one by one, energizing the atmosphere. When it was time for games, the twelve pairs of groomsmen and bridesmaids danced a passionate, fiery couple’s dance.
Tang Zhen realized: being a groomsman also meant dancing.
111 chuckled, 【Xiao Zhen, what did you think? That groomsmen and bridesmaids just stand there like statues? Impossible.】
There would be even more intimate interactions coming up.
So even if Ren Yanjing hadn’t refused, the system would have issued a task to prevent him from serving as a groomsman.
Each bridesmaid and groomsman was basically a dance master.
In the end, even the bride and groom joined the dancing.
The music was intense, the rhythm infectious, and the crowd completely energized.
After the dancing ended, it was time for the vows.
The groom began a heartfelt confession while reaching into his pocket to pull out the ring box.
But the pocket was empty.
The groom froze, searching again, still finding nothing.
He became nervous, unsure what to do, trying to stall by reminiscing about the past.
Tang Zhen, sipping the juice Ren Yanjing had just brought her, heard 111’s commentary, 【Unreliable groomsmen, even more unreliable groom—he managed to lose the ring box while dancing.】
【If 100 is a perfect score, I’d give this groom zero!】
Tang Zhen blinked. “111, what happened?”
【The groom’s dance moves were too wild, the ring box fell.】
【He had plenty of time to fix it but didn’t even notice it was gone.】
Tang Zhen gasped. “Then what do we do now?”
111 shrugged, 【Nothing can be done—the groom is about to ruin the wedding.】
111 couldn’t resist adding, 【This kind of rookie mistake would never happen to the male lead.】
【He’s 26 years old—how can he mess up something so small?】
111 unleashed full criticism, tearing the groom apart.
Tang Zhen put down her juice. “111, do you know where the ring box fell?”
【Zhen, are you going to go get it?】
Tang Zhen nodded. “Yes.”
【Okay, let me scan.】
After a few seconds, 111 said, 【It’s in the gap in the middle of the left side of the stage.】
Tang Zhen glanced at the groom on stage. His forehead was drenched in sweat; it was obvious he was very nervous.
Other guests assumed it was just pre-wedding jitters. Only Tang Zhen and 111 knew what he was really nervous about.
111 continued scolding the groom.
Today, among the twelve groomsmen, aside from Ren Yanju and Ren Yanli, the other ten were the groom’s friends. One almost quit, another really bailed, nearly throwing off the wedding’s rhythm.
The groomsman issue was solved—now it was the groom’s turn.
Tang Zhen leaned close to Ren Yanjing and whispered, “Ren Yanjing, just now during the dance, I saw something fall out of the groom’s pocket.”
The music was too loud; Ren Yanjing didn’t hear clearly and felt his ears buzzing.
He leaned close to her, pressing his ear to hers, and said softly, “Baby, come closer and tell me.”
Tang Zhen’s eyes widened slightly.
“Come closer?”
Like… this close?
But… isn’t this way too close?
Time was pressing, though, so Tang Zhen had no choice. She pressed her lips to Ren Yanjing’s ear and repeated what she wanted to say.
Their tablemate, Ren Yan’er, teased, “Hey, hey, hey, you two are way too close! What are you whispering that you need to press together like that?”
It didn’t even look like whispering anymore—more like ear-kissing.
Could they at least give the bride and groom a little dignity? Okay?
This time, Ren Yanjing clearly heard her.
In truth, he hadn’t heard a word the groom said and hadn’t even looked at the stage. His gaze was glued entirely to Tang Zhen, so he had no idea the groom was sweating bullets in nervousness.
This was the Ren and Li families’ wedding of the century.
Any mistake here could be laughed about for a lifetime.
Ren Yanjing took Tang Zhen’s hand and asked, “Baby, did you see where it fell?”
Tang Zhen nodded.
Ren Yanjing told Ren Yan’er, “We’ll be right back.” Then he led Tang Zhen away.
Hand in hand, they weaved past the servers and reached the left side of the stage. Following 111’s guidance, Tang Zhen finally located the fallen ring.
The ring box was gone—only a lonely ring remained. It was thanks to Ren Yanjing leaning down, reaching into the gap, that they were able to retrieve it.
Luckily, the lighting was dim, and aside from a few attentive guests, most hadn’t seen this.
Ren Yanjing cupped the ring in his hand to prevent anyone from noticing anything, then handed it to Ren Yanju.
As soon as Ren Yanju held the ring, he roughly understood what had happened.
He cursed silently.
Even the ring could fall at a wedding?
How could the groom be as unreliable as the groomsmen?
Ren Yanjing patted his shoulder. From now on, it had nothing to do with him or Tang Zhen.
Ren Yanju wasted no time. He strode onto the stage, smiling broadly, and like a magician, produced a diamond ring from his pocket.
The groom, feeling like he had been pardoned, immediately took the ring from his hand.
He slipped the ring onto the bride’s finger and shouted, “Wife!”
Applause erupted from the guests.
After retrieving the ring, Tang Zhen and Ren Yanjing should have returned to their seats, but he pulled her to a quiet corner. He cupped her face with both hands and praised, “Baby, you’re amazing.”
Tang Zhen shook her head earnestly. “I’m not amazing.”
The credit went to 111.
Without 111, she wouldn’t have known where the ring fell.
111 was the real hero.
111, feeling shy, muttered, 【Hehe, Xiao Zhen, it’s nothing, really nothing.】
It was indeed a small matter, but 111 wouldn’t have bothered if it weren’t for Tang Zhen.
Ren Yanjing leaned down to kiss Tang Zhen’s eyelids and held her in his arms.
How could his baby be so adorable?
The way she seriously said she wasn’t amazing—it was just too cute.
Even a dull, monotonous wedding became lively because of her.
Ren Yanjing’s phone buzzed wildly. He checked it.
As expected, the group chat was full of discussions about the vow ceremony.
Ren Yanju had said the ring was handed to him by Ren Yanjing.
Ren Yanjing typed casually, “My girlfriend saw it.”
He was just a messenger.
The chat soon filled with praises for Tang Zhen.
Finally, Grandfather Ren spoke, “From now on, all of you, stay alert. Don’t make such rookie mistakes, understand?”
Ren Yanju replied, “Understood.”
Ren Yanli, “Yes, Grandfather.”
Ren Yanjing typed nonchalantly, “Grandfather, you’re overthinking.”
How could he ever make such a rookie mistake?
His own future wedding would definitely be the most meticulous—and the best.
