Lu Er hummed a little tune as he got home. The moment he opened the door, his ragdoll cat gracefully walked over and rubbed against his pant leg.

“Good girl, my little girlfriend!”

Lu Er crouched down, scooped the cat into his arms, and asked mysteriously, “How about Daddy finds you another dad? If you agree, meow once.”

The ragdoll tilted its head, its amber eyes fixed on the cat treat in Lu Er’s hand, and very cooperatively let out three “meows.”

“Great! I knew you’d support Daddy!” Lu Er was overjoyed. He generously tore open the treat and fed the cat. “From today on, our family is going to have one more person!”

After feeding the cat, Lu Er happily took a shower.

He had planned to return to his own room to sleep, but his feet seemed to have a mind of their own. As if possessed, he wandered into Song Jingmo’s room instead.

The air in Song Jingmo’s room still carried a faint scent of disinfectant mixed with a subtle trace of cedar.

Lu Er threw himself onto the large bed, buried his face in the pillow, and took a deep breath.

After rolling around twice on the bed, he pulled out his phone and opened the group chat of the “Three Stooges.”

[Lu Huang]: Brothers, today’s battle report: mission of delivering food completed, but the seduction attempt doesn’t seem very successful. He even asked if I was going out tonight—does that mean I didn’t dress sexy enough?

Attached was a photo of the outfit he had specially chosen today: a tight white T-shirt and black jeans, perfectly outlining his chest and abs, along with his long, straight legs.

[Commander Chu]: What the hell are you wearing? You need a shirt! Unbutton three buttons—half-hidden is the sexiest.

[Rich Guy Jiang]: Exactly! And spray some perfume—the kind that’s there but not there. That kind of teasing is lethal.

[Lu Huang]: I did spray some—Chanel’s new release. The brand sent it to me, just launched.

[Commander Chu]: Straight guy taste is hopeless. Listen to me—use Tom Ford next time. Guaranteed he won’t be able to resist.

[Rich Guy Jiang]: Or maybe change strategy? Know yourself and your enemy, and you’ll win every battle.

That line enlightened Lu Er—he needed someone who could infiltrate the “enemy’s camp.”

Lu Er immediately called Leng Keyan.

“Uncle? Why are you calling so late?”

“I have an important announcement.” Lu Er took a deep breath. “I like Song Jingmo. I’m pursuing him.”

There was a full ten seconds of silence on the other end before Leng Keyan’s shocked voice came through: “What? Uncle, you… weren’t you completely straight?”

“That was in the past,” Lu Er replied confidently. “Just tell me—are you helping or not? If you help me chase Song Jingmo, I’ll help you chase Yin Siyao.”

Leng Keyan digested the shocking news and suddenly understood. “No wonder you treat Teacher Song so differently.”

“The most important thing now is: I need you to find out how far things have progressed between Song Jingmo and Liao Xubai.”

“Leave it to me,” Leng Keyan said, instantly energized. “I’ll go gather intel tomorrow.”

Early the next morning, Leng Keyan arrived at Yin Siyao’s office in his wheelchair, looking full of determination.

Yin Siyao had just returned from rounds. Seeing him at the door, he paused for a moment.

He didn’t immediately drive him away, but after sitting down, asked, “Is your wound bothering you?”

“No.”

“Then what are you here for?”

Leng Keyan: To see you.

But he didn’t dare say it. Blinking his big innocent eyes, he asked, “I wanted to ask… are Teacher Song and Doctor Liao together?”

Yin Siyao was caught off guard. “Why are you asking that?”

“It just feels like they’re very close,” Leng Keyan played dumb. “Doctor Liao seems especially concerned about Teacher Song.”

“Liao Xubai does like Song Jingmo. He pursued him back in school, but was rejected.”

“He followed Song Jingmo abroad afterward, but after returning, I haven’t heard that they got together. As far as I know, Song Jingmo doesn’t have that kind of interest in him.”

Leng Keyan nodded thoughtfully.

Seeing his expression, Yin Siyao suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable. “Why are you suddenly so interested? Planning to change your target? Got your eye on Song Jingmo or Liao Xubai?”

“No way!” Leng Keyan denied quickly, his puppy-like eyes fixed on Yin Siyao. “From beginning to end, there’s only one person in my heart. Asking about Teacher Song is just curiosity.”

Yin Siyao flushed red at the direct confession and could only pretend to be stern. “If there’s nothing else, go back and rest. Stop overthinking.”

“Got it~” Leng Keyan grinned and maneuvered his wheelchair toward the door. At the doorway, he suddenly turned back. “Teacher Yin, you look really cute when you’re jealous!”

Yin Siyao threw a folder at him. “Get lost. Don’t let me see you again.”

Having obtained firsthand intelligence, Leng Keyan immediately reported back to Lu Er.

“Really? Song Jingmo doesn’t like Liao Xubai?” Lu Er’s voice on the phone rose in excitement.

“Absolutely true. Teacher Yin said it himself—he wouldn’t lie to me,” Leng Keyan said proudly. “Uncle, pretty solid intel, right?”

“Very solid.” Lu Er was ecstatic. “Wait right there—I’ll return the favor immediately.”

After hanging up, Lu Er called Yin Siyao right away.

“Doctor Yin, I have something I’d like to ask.”

Getting straight to the point, Lu Er said, “I’ve been really busy with work lately, and I can’t properly take care of Keyan. Could I trouble you to look after him? Of course, I won’t let you do it for free—I’ll pay 2,000 a day.”

Yin Siyao frowned. “That’s not appropriate. I’m a doctor—it’s not right to accept private payments.”

“Just think of it as helping a friend. Jingmo is at First People’s Hospital, and running back and forth between both places is exhausting.”

“Two thousand a day is really too much…”

“I earn far more than that in two hours. More importantly, you’re a doctor and Jingmo’s friend—I don’t trust other caregivers.”

As he spoke, Lu Er took out his phone. “I’ll transfer 60,000 upfront. If it’s not enough, we’ll discuss it later.”

Hearing the number, Yin Siyao’s eyes visibly lit up.

That was equivalent to three months of his salary.

“Keyan is a bit mischievous, but he listens to you the most,” Lu Er added. “With you taking care of him, I can focus on work without worry.”

Looking at the transfer notification on his phone, Yin Siyao struggled internally—then ultimately gave in to money. “Alright.”

“Then it’s settled. From today on, Keyan is in your care.”

After hanging up, Lu Er sent Leng Keyan a message:

[Done. For the next month, Doctor Yin is your personal doctor. That’s as far as your uncle can help you.]

[Leng Keyan]: Long live Uncle! I’ll keep an eye on Teacher Song for you—no one else will get any opportunity.]

And just like that, Lu Er and Leng Keyan officially formed an alliance, and a grand battle of love and strategy was about to begin.

Meanwhile, Song Jingmo had no idea he had become the target of this uncle-nephew duo’s campaign.

“What do you want to eat tomorrow? I have a consultation at First People’s Hospital in the afternoon—I can bring something over for you,” Liao Xubai asked over the phone.

The food at First People’s Hospital was far inferior to Kangren’s.

Thinking of how Lu Er had said he would bring food yesterday, Song Jingmo shook his head lightly. “No need. Thank you.”
