The next morning, Lu Er was utterly exhausted.

He barely managed to turn over, ready to continue sleeping, but something felt off.

His mind suddenly cleared, and he opened his eyes wide, trying to stop the impending disaster.

But things didn’t go as planned.

He had no strength at all and could only watch helplessly as everything spiraled out of control.

Only one thought remained in his mind: No… no… no…

But the body doesn’t lie.

Lu Er didn’t care about anything else and flung the covers off.

Unfortunately, it was already too late.

Looking at the bedroom in total disarray, his face instantly turned the deep red of a ripe tomato.

He froze on the spot, struck dumb, neither able to advance nor retreat.

At that moment, the bedroom door was pushed open by a long, slender hand.

Song Jingmo walked in, holding a cup of warm honey water, ready to wake the person who had been thoroughly worn out the night before.

But what he saw made him pause.

Sunlight poured through the window, glinting off puddles on the floor.

Song Jingmo’s expression was perfectly controlled—just a slight twitch of his eyelid, but no other change on his face.

“You…”

Song Jingmo began to speak.

“Shut up!!!”

Lu Er jumped ahead, his voice trembling, eyes already red. “If you dare say a single word, I’ll kill you. Really kill you!”

The next second, Song Jingmo set down the cup and hurried forward.

Before Lu Er could react, he scooped him up horizontally in his arms.

“Don’t touch me~”

Lu Er resisted a little. “Let go of me, get out~”

Song Jingmo’s voice was gentle: “Not letting go. The bathtub is already filled.”

“It’s too dirty, you—”

Lu Er hugged his knees, burying his face, leaving only a pair of bright red ears exposed.

“You’re not dirty at all, Er Er.”

Lu Er buried his head even deeper, a muffled voice escaping from between his knees: “Go away, I don’t want to live…”

Song Jingmo held back a smile, though he couldn’t fully suppress it.

But he knew he absolutely couldn’t laugh right now.

If he laughed, it would all be over.

He reached out, gently draping his arm over Lu Er’s shoulders, pulling him closer. “It’s okay. This is normal.”

“Normal my foot!”

Lu Er suddenly raised his head, eyes red.

His beautiful face was a mix of shame and anger. “I’m an adult… and yet… yet… how embarrassing!”

The more he spoke, the more aggrieved he became, tears welling in his eyes.

Watching him like this, Song Jingmo’s heart melted completely.

He leaned down and kissed Lu Er’s forehead. “You won’t be embarrassed once you’re clean.”

Lu Er curled up in the water, only his head visible. “But the room is all—”

The redness on his face hadn’t faded, but his emotions had stabilized quite a bit.

“I wanted to get it over with quickly, but the more I rushed, the less I could control it~”

“I—”

Song Jingmo applied the bath bubbles while soothing him: “It’s all normal, Er Er. No need to feel pressured.”

Looking at Song Jingmo’s focused profile, Lu Er muttered quietly: “Don’t… don’t you feel disgusted?”

Song Jingmo smiled gently: “What’s disgusting about it?”

Seeing Lu Er still skeptical, he added, “Er Er is sweet.”

Lu Er said nothing.

Song Jingmo kissed the corner of his mouth. “You’re such an adorable little fool. Next time, remember to call me.”

“This is mainly my fault. I was wrong. You didn’t do anything wrong.”

Lu Er paused for a moment, then his face turned red again.

But this time, it wasn’t just embarrassment—there was something else too.

“You… of course you’re wrong.”

Lu Er complained: “It’s all your fault.”

“Mm, all my fault.”

Song Jingmo agreed without resistance.

“From now on, you’re not allowed to… do that… that…”

“Do what?”

Lu Er glared, but his red eyes had no real threat.

Song Jingmo smiled and pecked his lips: “Okay, I’ll be careful next time.”

After quite a struggle, Lu Er was finally lifted from the bathtub, dried, and dressed in clean clothes.

Song Jingmo went to clean the bedroom—changing the sheets, wiping the floor, opening the windows for ventilation—everything done efficiently.

Once everything was in order, Lu Er sat on the edge of the bed, looking at the refreshed bedroom, then at Song Jingmo washing his hands. Most of the embarrassment and annoyance had quietly melted away.

“Come here.”

Lu Er waved him over.

Song Jingmo dried his hands and walked over.

Lu Er grabbed his collar and planted a kiss on his lips.

“I forgive you this time, but if there’s a next time—”

Song Jingmo finished the sentence: “Next time, I’ll sleep in the study.”

Lu Er pouted: “As long as you know.”

Song Jingmo smiled, ruffling his hair: “Let’s go downstairs to eat. Auntie made your favorite shrimp dumplings.”

At the table, Lu Ming was already sitting obediently in his high chair, with a small bowl of chopped shrimp steamed egg in front of him.

Seeing Lu Er come down, he had completely forgotten about his spanking last night and beamed up: “Good morning, uncle!”

Lu Er walked over and kissed the little one on the cheek: “Good morning, Ming Ming.”

The little one giggled, then looked at Song Jingmo and blinked: “Good morning, uncle!”

Song Jingmo rarely smiled, reaching out to ruffle Lu Ming’s hair: “Good morning, Ming Ming. You’re such a good boy.”

Halfway through breakfast, Lu Ming suddenly asked: “Uncle, why is your face so red?”

Lu Er nearly choked on his milk.

“Eat your food.”

He put on a serious face. “Adult matters—kids shouldn’t pry.”

Lu Ming nodded and continued focusing on his egg custard.

After finishing breakfast, Song Jingmo changed into his going-out clothes.

Before leaving, he glanced at Lu Er, who was helping Lu Ming put on his coat.

He leaned over and whispered in his ear: “I’ll come back early tonight. I promise I won’t make you run to the bathroom again.”

Lu Er’s ears turned red instantly. He tried to kick, but Song Jingmo had anticipated it and dodged with a smile.

Half an hour later, Lu Er drove, carrying Lu Ming, heading toward the Lu family’s old residence.

Lu Ming sat in his child safety seat in the back, hugging his little dinosaur toy. Curiously, he asked: “Uncle, are we going to grandma’s house?”

“Yeah, to see grandma.”

“Isn’t uncle coming?”

“Uncle has to work.”

Lu Ming nodded, then after a while asked again: “Will uncle pick us up tonight?”

Lu Er glanced at him in the rearview mirror, a slight smile on his lips: “Tonight, you’ll be at grandma’s. I’ll be celebrating the holiday with your uncle.”

Lu Ming gave an “oh” as if he understood, then resumed singing his nursery rhyme.
