“Word is they’ve saddled him with hundreds of billions in debt, and his son still hasn’t come back.”

“The entertainment industry is such a filthy place—nothing surprising about shady stuff happening there.”

“Anyone good-looking in that industry is probably kept by some sugar daddy. I heard the Qu family’s nephew comes from a powerful background—how could his parents allow him to get involved with someone from showbiz?”

“If my son brought home someone from the entertainment industry, I’d probably break his legs.”

“Exactly. Who knows how many ‘green hats’ he’s wearing already…”

“I heard Sister Leng was so furious recently that she had to be hospitalized. It really hasn’t been easy for her.”

“No wonder she hasn’t been going out for afternoon tea. If it were me, I wouldn’t even have the face to step out.”

Several rich ladies covered their mouths as they burst into laughter.

Just then, a glass of red wine was suddenly splashed over them without warning.

The deep crimson liquid ran down their carefully styled hair, staining their pearl necklaces red.

The ladies froze.

Leng Qinghua stood there, dressed in a golden cheongsam with a white fox fur draped over her shoulders. Her hair was elegantly pinned up, revealing her graceful neck.

Her makeup was exquisite, her lips blood-red, and her gaze as cold as a blade. “My son’s affairs are none of your business.”

“I invited you here because I treated you like decent people. Turns out you don’t even know how to pretend to be one.”

Talking behind her back was one thing—but to speak so recklessly on her own turf?

The ladies’ faces turned pale instantly.

Although Leng Qinghua often had afternoon tea with them, she was fundamentally different from these pampered housewives.

They had been born into wealth and never fought their way through the business world, only gossiping about trivial matters.

Leng Qinghua, on the other hand, had clawed her way up through a world dominated by men.

That streak of ruthlessness in her—that was exactly what they disliked most.

Mrs. Su, who had been splashed the most, now had her makeup completely ruined.

The Su family was a century-old prestigious household with deep roots.

Being publicly doused in wine was already humiliating—if she were thrown out as well, how could she ever show her face in their social circle again?

Mrs. Su shot to her feet. “Qinghua, are you crazy? How dare you splash me?”

“Do you know our families are collaborating on an AI project worth over a hundred million?”

“And what if I splashed you? You’re the one I meant to hit—the others just got caught in the crossfire.”

Leng Qinghua sneered. “Gossiping behind people’s backs like uneducated village shrews. Partners like that? I don’t need them.”

“And splashing wine in public counts as being cultured?”

Mrs. Su trembled with anger, raising her hand to slap her.

The other ladies, knowing they were in the wrong, didn’t dare let things escalate. Afraid of being scolded by their husbands, they hurried to restrain her.

Hands reached out from all sides to stop her. The scene quickly descended into chaos—pushing and shoving everywhere.

Someone bumped into someone else. Wearing eight-centimeter heels, Leng Qinghua lost her footing and fell backward.

A waitress carrying a tray of champagne glasses rushed forward to help.

But another lady, also unsteady, crashed into the waitress, knocking the tray out of her hands.

Unable to catch Leng Qinghua, the waitress could only watch helplessly as she fell toward the table behind her.

On the table stood a six-tier champagne tower—crystal-clear glasses stacked into a glittering pyramid under the lights.

The impact sent it collapsing instantly.

Crash—

The sharp, piercing sound of shattering glass echoed through the entire banquet hall.

Hundreds of glasses smashed onto the floor, shards scattering everywhere.

Champagne cascaded down like a waterfall, drenching Leng Qinghua completely.

Her golden cheongsam was soaked through in an instant, clinging tightly to her body. The fox fur absorbed the liquid, becoming heavy as it dragged downward.

Glass fragments sliced into the exposed skin of her wrists and neck, drawing tiny beads of blood.

She lay amid the wreckage, while the other ladies had also fallen into a heap, stunned by the scene.

Lu Chen was the first to rush over. “Mom!”

Lu Er snapped out of it and pushed through the crowd, with Song Jingmo right behind him.

“Mom—how are you?”

Lu Chen knelt beside her, reaching out to help her up.

“Don’t move her.”

Song Jingmo stopped him, quickly checking her injuries. “There may be glass embedded in her body. Moving her could make it worse.”

“Mom…”

Lu Er’s voice trembled.

“Don’t worry. I’m here. Call an ambulance.”

His voice was calm and steady. Kneeling beside Leng Qinghua, he gave her a quick assessment. “Several cuts from glass shards, but none are deep—no arteries hit.”

“There’s a mild fracture in her foot, and she hit the back of her head on the table when she fell. There’s some bleeding, but it shouldn’t be too serious.”

Leng Qinghua came back to her senses and wiped the wine from her face. “I’m fine. Help me up.”

Lu Chen and Song Jingmo carefully helped her to her feet.

Though drenched and bleeding from the neck, her back remained perfectly straight.

Song Jingmo spoke, “Auntie, let me treat your wounds first.”

“No need.”

Holding her head, Leng Qinghua looked toward the now-terrified ladies.

Mrs. Su’s face was deathly pale as she lay on the ground, lips trembling. “I didn’t do it on purpose—they pushed me…”

The others immediately began shifting blame. “I was just trying to pull someone away—I don’t even know how I fell…”

“I don’t care who pushed whom. Compensation will be handled as it should be. And the cooperation is off.”

“Qinghua,” Mrs. Su’s husband stepped forward, “it’s all a misunderstanding. My wife just has a sharp tongue—don’t take it to heart.”

“A contract worth over a hundred million—you can’t just cancel it because of a woman speaking out of turn.”

As he spoke, he glared at his wife and pulled her up. “Look at you—you’ve completely embarrassed yourself.”

Mrs. Su didn’t dare say a word, standing meekly beside him.

“Your wife insulted me on my own turf, saying I’d have no descendants. Is that something a decent person would do? Did she forget to bring her brain when she left the house?”

Then she turned to Lu Chen. “See them out.”

“Yes.”

Lu Chen immediately gestured, and several security guards strode over.

The banquet hall fell into complete silence.

Leng Qinghua swept her gaze across the room, her tone softening as she spoke again, “Sorry for the disturbance. Please continue to enjoy the banquet.”

Then she said to Lu Chen, “You and Bingbing stay and entertain the guests. Don’t worry about me.”

Lu Chen looked at her, full of concern. “Mom, the ambulance is here. I’ll take you to the hospital.”

Lu Er spoke up, “Brother, you and sister-in-law stay. Jingmo and I will take Mom. We’re medically trained—we’re more useful there.”

Song Jingmo added, “I’ve already contacted the hospital. The medical staff are ready.”

Lu Chen looked to Leng Qinghua for her decision.

She glanced at Song Jingmo. “Thank you.”

Song Jingmo and Lu Er helped her downstairs.

Behind them, the music resumed.

In the ambulance, Song Jingmo briefly explained the situation. “There may be glass fragments in the skin—be careful during treatment.”

Lu Er stood to the side, his eyes reddening as he looked at the small cuts on Leng Qinghua’s arm.

“Mom… I’m sorry…”

“What are you apologizing for?”

Leng Qinghua’s tone was calm. “You weren’t the one who pushed me.”

Lu Er said nothing.

He could guess why she had lashed out—it all stemmed from those people gossiping about him.

At the hospital, Leng Qinghua was taken into the emergency room.

Song Jingmo and Lu Er changed into disposable protective clothing, staying by her side without leaving for a moment.
