Leng Keyan could no longer maintain his composure.
“If I’m not here, then tell me—where am I supposed to be?”
His voice carried a hint of grievance, his eyes moist and pitiful. “It’s late at night. If I’m not keeping my boyfriend company, then who should I be with?”
“I already explained the thing with the foreign language department’s campus beauty. She’s my cousin’s girlfriend. I brought her breakfast just to earn some money. Once you said you didn’t like it, I stopped.”
Yin Siyao looked at him silently.
Leng Keyan grew even more aggrieved. “You slept all day and couldn’t be woken up. I was so scared. What if something happened to you? What would I do?”
His voice grew softer and softer, until finally he lowered his head, fingers fidgeting unconsciously with the sheets.
Yin Siyao watched him for a moment and sighed.
“You just had a night shift and it wore you out… that’s why you slept longer than usual.”
Leng Keyan remembered something he wanted to explain and spoke again. “Teacher Yin, there’s something I want to tell you.”
“Mm.”
Yin Siyao responded, leaning against the headboard. “Go ahead.”
“Well…” Leng Keyan licked his lips, throat dry. “I lied to you, but I really didn’t mean to.”
Yin Siyao’s expression didn’t change at all. He just watched him quietly, waiting for him to continue.
That calmness made Leng Keyan even more panicked.
He would have preferred it if Yin Siyao were angry, scolding or questioning him—anything but this indifferent silence.
“I lied to you about my parents.”
Leng Keyan’s eyes were red. “I didn’t want to lie, but at that moment… I just lost my mind.”
Yin Siyao raised an eyebrow. So it had come to this in the end?
“They didn’t agree, did they?”
Yin Siyao let out a self-mocking smile. “Because I’m older? Or because my family conditions are too poor? Just tell me the truth—don’t lie to me anymore.”
Leng Keyan: “…”
Yin Siyao turned his head slightly. “What happened this morning was my choice. Don’t feel pressured.”
“What are you talking about? My parents didn’t disagree.”
Leng Keyan hurriedly explained. “At first, they didn’t agree because they thought the age gap was too big. They worried I’d just be playing around and would waste your time. But after they realized I was serious, they didn’t oppose it anymore. They even told me to bring you home sooner.”
Yin Siyao’s eyelashes fluttered slightly.
“And I didn’t lie to you about this. When I said my parents are ordinary farmers, actually… they are very wealthy farmers.”
Leng Keyan quickly added, “They have tens of thousands of acres of land, several farms, and a pretty high annual income.”
“Strictly speaking, they’re still farmers because they work in the fields regularly. I just didn’t explain it clearly… so it’s not really a lie.”
After saying this, he held his breath, staring at Yin Siyao’s face.
Yin Siyao’s expression still didn’t change.
He just calmly looked at Leng Keyan for a long time—so long that Leng Keyan thought he might be executed by this silent torture.
Then Yin Siyao spoke, voice neutral: “So… this is the thing you lied about?”
It sounded a little off.
Leng Keyan felt confused.
“Really nothing else?”
Yin Siyao asked again, tone tinged with puzzlement. “You’d better say everything at once.”
“I only lied about this. Really, nothing else.”
Leng Keyan opened his mouth, still dazed. “I promise… I’ll never lie to you again. I really know I was wrong.”
Yin Siyao looked at him and suddenly smiled.
Leng Keyan was so shocked that he immediately knelt on the floor.
Crying pitifully, he said, “I’ve reflected all night. I really know I was wrong. Can you forgive me this once?”
“Leng Keyan,” Yin Siyao said angrily, almost wanting to slap him, “do you know what I was thinking when I took your call yesterday?”
Leng Keyan shook his head.
“I was wondering if you were going to tell me that your family didn’t approve and that you wanted to break up.”
Leng Keyan’s eyes widened. “Impossible! I’m not a puppet that can be manipulated at will.”
Then he immediately slapped his own face. “No, I am a puppet… Teacher Yin’s exclusive puppet.”
Yin Siyao couldn’t help but laugh and continue, “I even wondered if you regretted it. Thought being with me was too troublesome, too tiring, and didn’t want to continue.”
“I don’t,” Leng Keyan immediately retorted. “Only an idiot would regret it.”
“I was thinking,” Yin Siyao shifted his gaze back to Leng Keyan, “if you really said that, what should I do?”
His voice was calm, but Leng Keyan saw the fleeting glimmer of moisture in his almond-shaped eyes.
It was brief, disappearing quickly.
“So… you said your parents aren’t farmers but wealthy farmers. Does that count as lying?”
Yin Siyao finally relaxed. “If it counts, I’d rather hear this than anything else.”
Leng Keyan felt a sting in his nose, and tears fell without warning.
He rushed over, hugging Yin Siyao, burying his face in his shoulder. His voice muffled: “I’m sorry, Teacher Yin. I’m really sorry.”
“I was afraid you’d be angry, afraid you’d ignore me. At first, I didn’t lie on purpose. I was just afraid you’d think the gap between us was too big, afraid you’d refuse me because of it.”
“You were afraid I’d feel inferior?”
Yin Siyao’s hand gently patted Leng Keyan’s back.
“Yes.” Leng Keyan nodded, tears soaking into Yin Siyao’s pajamas. “I was afraid you’d think I’m not good enough for you, but really it’s me who’s not good enough for you.”
Yin Siyao smiled again. “Silly, if I felt inferior because of money, I wouldn’t have agreed to be with you in the first place.”
Leng Keyan lifted his head, eyes red. “Really?”
“Really.”
Yin Siyao looked at him, gaze softening. “It’s you I like. Not your family, not your money, but you.”
Leng Keyan leaned over and kissed Yin Siyao’s lips.
“Teacher Yin, you’re so good… how can someone like you exist?”
Yin Siyao didn’t reply, just ruffled Leng Keyan’s fluffy hair.
In fact, he had long suspected that Leng Keyan came from a special background.
From the casual mention that his uncle was the big star Lu Er, from the protected innocence in his demeanor.
But he didn’t care.
All that mattered to him was Leng Keyan.
“Want to eat something?”
Leng Keyan’s voice regained its usual energy. “You haven’t eaten for so long… I’m worried…”
“Go grab some clothes. I’ll wash up and then eat.”
Leng Keyan looked at him, hesitating, speaking cautiously: “Maybe I should carry you. I’m afraid you’ll be tired.”
Earlier in the afternoon, he asked his uncle. His uncle said the first time would be painful and to take good care of Yin Siyao, not letting him get exhausted.
Walking would be tiring.
Yin Siyao was puzzled: “How can walking be tiring? I’m not handicapped.”
“But uncle said walking involves… and it will hurt.”
Yin Siyao’s ears turned red. “That’s because they overdid it and tore the wound. Don’t pick up bad habits from them.”
