Lu Er was clearly not convinced. “Birthday only comes once a year, and it’s meeting your colleagues. If I’m too casual, it’ll seem like I don’t take you seriously.”

Besides, this was the first birthday that Song Jingmo was spending after they got together.

Dressing up nicely wasn’t too much to ask.

The only concern was that Song Jingmo’s colleagues were all doctors, so being too formal might feel out of place.

Song Jingmo turned his head and kissed Lu Er’s earlobe. “I’m just worried that if everyone’s eyes are on you tonight, no one will eat.”

Lu Er, pressed against Song Jingmo’s warm chest, shivered slightly at the tingling sensation along his earlobe.

He turned his face to glare at Song Jingmo. “I’ve never seen you this smooth before.”

“I can do more,” Song Jingmo said with a low chuckle, turning Lu Er’s body toward him and pressing his lips to the rosy ones.

This kiss wasn’t as intense as last night, but it was tender and lingering, carrying the longing of a day apart and a heart full of love.

At first, Lu Er pushed lightly, mumbling that he hadn’t finished fixing his hair yet, but soon he softened under Song Jingmo’s gentle assault.

His arms unconsciously wrapped around Song Jingmo’s neck, tilting his head up to respond.

They kissed in the cloakroom, reluctant to part, and the air around them gradually grew warmer.

Song Jingmo’s hands began wandering along Lu Er’s waistline, slowly sliding downward.

“Er Er, I really like you~”

He nibbled lightly at Lu Er’s lips. “Whenever I touch you, I just can’t control myself~”

He wanted to tease him.

Make him cry from being spoiled.

He loved the sight of Lu Er begging for mercy through tears.

Eight hours had passed since the last medication, and its effect had fully absorbed.

“If you invite people to dinner, it wouldn’t look good to be the last to arrive.”

Thinking about the person in his arms leaving tonight, Song Jingmo pleaded, “Can we hurry a bit? I promise, just half an hour.”

If men could be trusted, even pigs could fly.

If they didn’t show up tonight, it was obvious where they’d be going.

He simply couldn’t lose face like that.

Lu Er refused to compromise. “Don’t even try to fool me—you never do less than two hours.”

Song Jingmo sighed.

Sigh, this little one is hard to coax.

“Er Er…”

Song Jingmo pressed him closer. “Really no way?”

Lu Er’s cheeks flamed. “Time… time’s really almost up. Stop messing around, let’s go.”

He took a step back, trying to stand straight, but the soreness in his waist made his legs weak, almost causing him to stumble.

“Careful.”

Song Jingmo caught him swiftly, and seeing Lu Er’s furrowed brows and flushed face, he immediately understood what happened.

Heart aching with guilt, but also filled with an indescribable sense of satisfaction and possessiveness, he didn’t hesitate and crouched down in front of Lu Er.

“Get on.”

His voice left no room for refusal. “I’ll carry you down.”

Lu Er looked at the broad back in front of him, cheeks even redder. “No, I can walk.”

What a joke.

A grown man having someone carry him downstairs? That’s way too embarrassing.

“Get on.”

Song Jingmo’s tone brooked no refusal. He glanced back at Lu Er, eyes soft yet determined. “Or I can just carry you. Pick one.”

Lu Er: “….”

Being carried downstairs would be even more humiliating!

“Be obedient, or we’ll eat after… anyway, we’re already late.”

Lu Er checked the time and felt his weak waist and legs.

Gritting his teeth, he finally climbed up, arms wrapping around Song Jingmo’s neck.

Song Jingmo lifted him steadily, weighing him briefly. “Only half a month, and you’ve lost so much weight from hunger.”

Lu Er buried his flushed face in Song Jingmo’s neck, silent.

Song Jingmo carried him out, the elevator descending.

The small space contained only the two of them.

Lu Er, sprawled on Song Jingmo’s back, was mortified.

He was a grown man, and yet needed to be carried downstairs…

If anyone saw…

Just as he feared, it happened.

The elevator stopped on a floor, and a little girl holding her mother’s hand stepped in.

She looked about four or five, with two pigtails and wide round eyes.

The moment she entered, she curiously glanced at the pair, eyes bouncing between Song Jingmo and Lu Er on his back.

Then, with an innocent, clear voice, she asked, “Uncle, why does the pretty lady on your back still need to be carried even though she’s so big?”

“She can’t walk by herself?”

Lu Er: “….”

Pretty… lady???

His body stiffened, face burying deeper, wishing he could vanish on the spot.

Feeling Lu Er tense on his back, Song Jingmo’s eyes twinkled with amusement.

He gently explained to the little girl, “She’s a handsome brother, not a sister.”

“Ah? A brother?”

The little girl blinked, confused, but quickly accepted it.

She asked again, “Then why does the handsome brother need to be carried? I’m four and didn’t need Mommy to carry me.”

Song Jingmo remained composed. “The handsome brother isn’t feeling well and can’t walk, so Uncle is carrying him.”

The girl nodded in understanding.

Like a little adult, she said, “Oh, the handsome brother is sick! Uncle, you must take good care of him! Being sick is no fun!”

“Yes, Uncle will,” Song Jingmo answered seriously, trying not to laugh.

The girl’s mother awkwardly but amusedly tugged her daughter, whispering, “Don’t talk nonsense.”

Then she smiled apologetically at Song Jingmo.

The elevator reached the first floor, and the mother and daughter exited first.

Once the doors closed, Lu Er immediately lifted his head, face full of shame and anger, and lightly bit Song Jingmo’s neck, leaving a faint mark.

“It’s all your fault. You have no self-control and made me lose so much face in front of a kid, and even got called ‘sister’…”

Lu Er gritted his teeth, voice muffled.

Song Jingmo grunted softly from the bite, but it didn’t hurt—if anything, it tickled.

Carrying him to the parking lot, his voice full of laughter and a hint of innocent accusation: “How can this be my fault?”

“I’m normally not a person driven by desire.”

“But with you… I can’t control myself.”

“I have reason to suspect Er Er is tempting me.”

When he was alone, he spent all day in surgeries and writing papers, never thinking of that.

Lu Er, hearing this twisted logic, was both angry and amused, hugging Song Jingmo’s neck tightly. “Hurry up. We’ll really be late if we dawdle.”

“Having a beautiful wife really tests a man’s self-control.”

Song Jingmo’s low, magnetic voice brushed against his ear, warm and endlessly intimate.

Lu Er clung to his back, playing with his hair.

Listening to his strong heartbeat, feeling the warmth and security from his broad back, the earlier embarrassment was swept away by a wave of sweetness.

Forget it… let’s just be embarrassed.
