The triage desk had turned into an absolute battlefield.

The air was thick with the metallic stench of blood and the sharp smell of disinfectant, mingled with the coarse shouts and pained groans of men.

In the middle of the crowd, Leng Keyan’s white coat had long been stained beyond recognition, large dark red blotches of blood shocking to the eye.

Around him, four other men were just as disheveled, yet still bristling with anger, shoving and yelling at each other.

A young man in a white down jacket had a kitchen knife buried deep in his abdomen. One hand clutched the wound, howling in pain, yet he still cursed furiously: “Damn you, you green turtle! I’ll kill you!”

A man in a filthy army green coat had a gaping cut across his chest, blood gushing out. Pale-faced, he yelled back: “Bullshit! The child in Shanshan is mine! Who the hell do you think you are?”

A man in a black leather jacket had a split head, blood covering half his face. He craned his neck to shout: “Shut the hell up! Shanshan loves me the most, the kid is mine!”

The youngest, wearing a green cotton coat and dyed blond, was the worst off—two front teeth knocked out, his speech slurred. He didn’t back down: “I—I met Shanshan first, the kid is mine!”

Though all four were bleeding and battered, their fighting spirit remained relentless.

They shouted at each other, pointing fingers in rage:
“You bastard! The kid in Shanshan’s belly is mine! You cheater!”
“Lies! Shanshan loves me the most, the kid is obviously mine!”
“Get lost! Shanshan has been with me since last year, the child is mine!”
“Wah… Shanshan only did it with me…”

Leng Keyan, caught in the middle, pressed down firmly on the knife embedded in the white jacket, trying to prevent further injury.

With his other hand, he tried to separate the shoving men, sweat beading on his forehead, voice cracking from yelling:
“Stop moving! Stop moving!”
“The knife might have punctured the spleen. If you keep pushing, someone will die. Stop arguing and let’s deal with the wound first!”

But the four men, blinded by love, ignored him. In the scuffle, one’s elbow smashed into Leng Keyan’s forehead. Then a flailing arm struck his cheek. He groaned and staggered back, almost falling.

At that chaotic moment, a strong, composed hand steadied his shoulder.

“Shut up!”

A cold, authoritative voice cut through the noise.

Yin Siyao’s expression was calm yet imposing. He scanned the four still-arguing men, instantly bringing order to the scene.

“This is a hospital ER, not a marketplace. Keep yelling or fighting, and I’ll call the police. You’ll be charged with disturbing social order and assaulting medical personnel.”

“All four of you—any one of you, in you go. By the time you’re out, don’t even think about the kid… or your wives.”

His words were sharp and precise, hitting the core of the issue.

The four young men stiffened, intimidated by Yin Siyao’s icy gaze. Their swagger shrank instantly.

Moaning and clutching their wounds, they no longer dared shout.

Leng Keyan, supported by Yin Siyao, lifted his head, heart still racing.

Seeing it was Yin Siyao, surprise flashed across his eyes, quickly followed by a mixture of relief, gratitude, and trust.

“Teacher Yin? You… why are you here?”

Yin Siyao didn’t answer immediately. He quickly surveyed Leng Keyan from head to toe.

His gaze lingered on the blood-soaked coat, the bruised temple, and the split lip, finally resting on Leng Keyan’s eyes—still clear, despite the mess.

Seeing most of the blood came from others, his heart, which had been lodged in his throat, finally sank back down.

He exhaled almost imperceptibly, his tense expression softening slightly.

“Just passing by,” he said succinctly.

At that moment, the ER nurse rushed over: “Dr. Leng, the OR is pressing!”

“Where’s Wang Shanshan’s surgical consent form? Did you find her husband to sign it? We can’t delay any longer!”

Leng Keyan, ignoring his own injuries and the question of why Yin Siyao happened to be passing the ER, said: “Nurse, four came here.”

“All claiming to be Wang Shanshan’s boyfriend, all claiming the kid is theirs. They even fought and none would sign.”

Yin Siyao took the consent form from Leng Keyan, voice flat and unyielding: “You, you, you, and you—state your ages.”

Intimidated by his aura, the four answered instinctively:

White down jacket (knife in belly): “20.”

Army coat (bleeding from chest): “22.”

Black leather jacket (head wound): “17.”

Green cotton coat (missing teeth): “15.”

Yin Siyao handed the consent form and pen to the 22-year-old in the army coat: “You. Sign. Now.”

“Why him?”
“The child is mine!”
“I want to sign too!”

The other three immediately protested, about to explode again.

The nurse stomped her foot anxiously: “The patient is gravida 2 para 1, now hemorrhaging heavily, with placental abruption. It’s extremely dangerous!”

“Immediate surgery is necessary! Who is the family member—sign now!”

Yin Siyao barked: “Shut up! Did you hear me? Both the mother and child are in danger! Do you want one or two deaths?”

He turned to the 22-year-old: “You’re the oldest. If you don’t want the child to die, sign immediately.”

The army coat man, hearing words like “death” and “fetal demise,” panicked.

Shaking, he picked up the pen and signed.

The nurse grabbed the signed form and ran straight to the OR.

The remaining three men, seeing the outcome, resumed their argument over who the child belonged to and who would raise it.

Yin Siyao, headache mounting, coldly said: “If you all love the kid so much, then raise it together. Be dads together—nobody loses.”

The three men froze, exchanging glances.

“Fine…” the toothless boy hesitated.

“Sharing seems easier…” the head-injury boy agreed.

“Alright, then it’s settled—we raise it together,” the man with the knife in his belly weakly consented.

Yin Siyao: “……”

Leng Keyan: “……”
