But Ji Yi acted as if he hadn’t heard at all, rushing forward like a madman. “Zhu Jie! Zhu Jie, it’s me, Ji Yi!”

The guards, seeing the seriousness in his eyes, were all momentarily stunned. A few of them glanced back at the princesses in the pavilion, looking for guidance, but none of the three princesses said a word—they all had dark, stern expressions fixed on them.

“Who is this Zhu Jie? Is she looking for you?” Princess Lanyi teased, glancing at Princess Lanqin.

“Impossible! You don’t even know what Eighth Sister is called?” Princess Lanxin whispered, trying to stop her.

But Princess Lanyi only laughed mischievously. “Who knows? He doesn’t look like he’s lying!”

“You fool, and you actually take him seriously!” Princess Lanqin said lazily. “One or two like him show up every year. Haven’t you gotten used to it yet?”
