“No—she wouldn’t abandon me!” With a loud smack, Ji Yi knocked over the bowl of porridge in one hand, shouting loudly as he suddenly spun around and dashed for the door.

Everyone outside was startled by the sudden movement. The door swung open abruptly, leaving them all completely exposed before Ji Yi.

“Master!” Doctor Sun called out awkwardly.

“Prepare my things—I’m going to the capital!” Ji Yi said firmly.

“To the capital?” Everyone exclaimed in unison, shocked. “Master, what are you going to the capital for?”

“I’m going to take the imperial exam for the top scholar! Didn’t they say that if I became the top scholar, I could see her? Then I’ll go take it!” Ji Yi said without hesitation.

Hearing this, everyone nearly froze. When did their master become so ambitious?

Uncle Ge was the first to object: “No way! Master, this will be a laughingstock!”

“Yes! If the lord finds out, he’ll be furious! Master, you don’t want to see us all get punished, do you?” Manager Liao said fearfully.
