Ji Yi smoothly caught the incoming blade, flipped forward like a leaping fish over the dragon gate, and in a flash of white light—bang!—another man dropped to the ground, motionless.
One of the black-clad men had originally crept silently behind Ji Yi, intending to stab him in the back. Unexpectedly, Ji Yi had already noticed him. Not only did he dodge the attack, but he also slipped behind the man in the same instant and returned the favor with a strike of his own. The man fell on the spot.
Everyone was stunned once again. They hadn’t expected her martial arts to be this strong as well—clearly she had inherited quite a bit from Uncle Ge. So it turned out Uncle Ge hadn’t just been there to protect Ji Yi after all.
At that moment, another muffled cry came from nearby, followed by the sound of someone collapsing. Ji Yi quickly turned his head—and froze in shock.
When had a lump of “charcoal” appeared behind him?
“I’m not bad either, right?” Zhu Jie stood there proudly, holding a blade, wiggling her eyebrows at him.
Ji Yi’s face twitched in sync with her brows. What was going on with her?
“Uh… why is your face black?” Ji Yi swallowed hard. Good heavens—just now, her face looked like two wriggling black worms crawling across a cast-iron pot, twisting and greeting you. It was honestly a bit horrifying.
“What?!” Zhu Jie froze on the spot. No way! She immediately tossed the blade aside and checked her pulse.
“You’ve been poisoned!”
“I’ve been poisoned!”
Almost simultaneously, Ji Yi and Zhu Jie shouted the same thing.
Uncle Ge’s deep voice cut in, “Stop using your internal energy, or the poison will spread faster!”
What? If she couldn’t use her inner force, wasn’t that basically asking Zhu Jie to surrender without a fight?
The black-clad men clearly heard this as well. In an instant, they changed targets and rushed straight toward Zhu Jie. Seriously? Picking on the weakest?
One of them suddenly spun around and slashed at her—when just moments ago, Zhu Jie had been the one chasing him! Now the tables had completely turned.
Just as the blade came down, Ji Yi leapt forward. With a swift strike, the man didn’t even have time to react before he was cut down like a melon or vegetable.
“So—so amazing!” Zhu Jie immediately put on a lovestruck expression. But just then, Ji Yi’s face darkened, his gaze turning icy as he stared behind her.
Wait… there’s someone behind her too?!
She turned her head—and nearly died of fright. The blade was already brushing against her scalp!
At the same moment, Ji Yi grabbed her and yanked her aside.
Smack! The blade still came down.
“My butt!” Zhu Jie wailed.
“It’s fine—just the arrow shaft got cut,” Ji Yi said softly, trying to comfort her.
Zhu Jie, enduring the pain, reached back to check—but the moment she touched it, she howled again. It was true—the “tail” behind her had been chopped off, but her butt had also taken a direct hit!
Tears streamed down her face. “How is this fine? Don’t you understand vibration and action-reaction forces?” she cried. “My butt is bleeding!” Sure enough, her hand came away covered in dark blood.
Ji Yi’s expression sank. Zhu Jie, however, gritted her teeth and pointed fiercely at the attacker. “Kill him for me!”
Despite everything, her voice was still full of vigor.
The black-clad man froze for a moment—perhaps he had never seen such a fierce woman. In the next instant, a cold flash streaked through the air. Ji Yi’s blade struck out—slash!—and the man collapsed. Perhaps in his final moment, he was still echoing Zhu Jie’s words: “Kill him for me~”
It had to be said—Ji Yi and Uncle Ge were truly formidable. The two of them wielded their blades like they were chopping vegetables. Meanwhile, Zhu Jie thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of directing the fight, shouting noisily, “That one—yes! And that one too—!”
Suddenly, her voice stopped.
Then came a sharp scream: “Not good—run!”
Grabbing Ji Yi, she turned and bolted.
Ji Yi hadn’t even figured out what was happening yet, but when he glanced back—what the hell?! A massive force was pouring down the mountain like a dark tide, and at the front was a man on horseback.
They had alerted the army!
Two fists might beat four hands, but not four hundred! With that many people, even if you stood there and let them cut, they could exhaust you to death!
Zhu Jie dragged Ji Yi along as they ran, but almost at the same time, the remaining black-clad men launched a coordinated attack—they clearly had no intention of letting them escape.
At that critical moment, Uncle Ge stepped forward, planting his blade horizontally and blocking their path.
“Go! I’ll hold them off!” he shouted over his shoulder.
Before he could even finish—
“Okay!” Zhu Jie responded crisply.
Not even a hint of hesitation. She grabbed Ji Yi and ran.
She ran so fast she didn’t even see Uncle Ge’s stunned and awkward expression.
They really just left him behind like that?!
Not even a token protest or polite refusal?!
