“That damn girl is there!”
Old Madam Zhu shouted loudly, fuming as she tried to chase after her. But she had only taken a few steps before someone grabbed her from behind.
Old Madam Zhu found it strange. She turned around and—huh?—it was Old Man Zhu?
She saw him shaking his head vigorously, pursing his lips with a “I want to say something but can’t” expression. Meanwhile, the people from Yingchun House had already chased off.
“What are you holding me back for?” Old Madam Zhu complained.
Old Man Zhu craned his neck to glance in the direction the Yingchun House group had gone. Seeing that they were indeed far away, he lowered his voice and said, “Keep your voice down. Listen to me.”
Old Madam Zhu, seeing his serious expression, was momentarily stunned. Then Old Man Zhu said, “We can’t beat that girl. Let’s admit defeat! Right now, the most important thing is Shishi! We need to hurry and rescue Shishi first!”
Upon hearing this, Old Madam Zhu immediately understood. Indeed! She had to admit that this girl was no one she could mess with—whether openly or secretly, she would only end up being played. Chasing her—what would be the point? Did she really want to jump off the cliff?
She sighed, “Forget it… Shishi is more important. Let’s think of a way to save her quickly!”
At this moment, the thugs and madam of Yingchun House were all present. It really was the best time to rescue Zhu Shishi. Old Madam Zhu could only swallow the bitter truth in silence.
“Here they come! Run! Run!”
Zhu Jie saw the people from Yingchun House closing in and quickly grabbed Ji Yi, running off. Her voice, however, didn’t sound frightened—it was actually a little excited, and she even giggled as she ran.
The Yingchun House people chased after her. But they hadn’t gone far when they saw Zhu Jie standing alone under a tree.
She stood there so quietly, yet strangely, with a serene smile on her face. Under the moonlight, her features appeared even softer and more beautiful. She looked like a fairy under the moon.
Yes, and at this moment, the fairy was still waving at them? A captured rabbit daring to tease the hunters?
The Yingchun House people hesitated. But after taking just a couple of steps, the ground beneath them shook violently, and with a thunderous crash, they fell straight down!
“Hahaha!”
Zhu Jie laughed loudly. A huge pit had appeared on the ground—well, Zhu Jie had ordered it dug. She walked over proudly, teasing, “Oh? How did this pit get here? And you fell right in… Should I call someone to rescue you?”
She was clearly teasing the thugs deliberately. But at that moment, a sharp scream rang out: “Go on, save them yourself!”
Zhu Jie looked up. What? A straggler?
It was the madam. Having not exercised for years, she was slow, but she had just barely avoided disaster. With a dark, furious face, she circled around the pit and approached Zhu Jie like an enraged tigress.
“Go down and join them!” she screamed, full of hatred. Zhu Jie, seemingly terrified, wobbled in place, looking fragile and no longer brash as before.
The madam lunged with all her strength—but “ya!”—she didn’t even manage to push Zhu Jie!
Zhu Jie was like a slippery eel. As the madam’s hands reached for her, Zhu Jie twisted and slipped aside. The madam almost lost her balance trying to adjust.
Zhu Jie grinned, swinging her body slightly as she teased, “Go down? Not go down? Go down? Not go down?”
Huh? The madam stopped. She wobbled but managed to stand firm. Zhu Jie’s face lit up with delight. “You little brat, just wait and see how I deal with you!” the madam growled through gritted teeth.
But Zhu Jie, feigning regret, waved her hand teasingly in a drawn-out tone, “Bye-bye!”
Huh? What was that? Suddenly, a gust of wind from behind—“Ah!”—the madam was pushed straight into the pit!
“No! Don’t!” came a sharp scream, followed by a dull hum, “Oh~”—she had fainted from the fall.
Zhu Jie and Ji Yi peered into the pit. Ji Yi, who had been hiding in the shadows, had seen that she didn’t fall and, naturally, kindly gave her a little push. Goodness, the pit was really deep—no wonder she fainted!
“One, two, three, four, five, six, seven… huh? Where are my poor ‘foster parents’?” Zhu Jie laughed playfully.
