The Ultimate Spoiled Wife: A Hilarious Shameless Couple 4 min read 337 of 340 0

Seeing that Zhu Jie’s brows were knitting tighter and tighter, Ji Yi realized that if he kept asking, she’d likely slip up! He quickly put on a polite expression and said, “Could you please ask Manager Liao to bring us some ointment for the injuries?”

Hearing this, Manager Liao seemed as if he had just received a pardon—he practically bolted away at full speed.

Before long, a young servant came in, respectfully handing over a box of ointment. Did Manager Liao dare not even come inside?

Ji Yi lifted Zhu Jie’s hand, bringing it close to his lips, softly blowing on it. “Does it hurt?”

Seeing his pained expression, Zhu Jie just puckered her lips slightly. A scratch like this, hurting? She hadn’t even noticed it before Ji Yi said anything.

Ji Yi gently applied the ointment, sighing as he spoke, “Earlier, Manager Liao just gave me a thousand taels as commission. If they come back, we’ll just give them the money.”

“Why should we? Absolutely not!” Zhu Jie immediately placed her hands on her hips.

Ji Yi grew a little anxious. “Since when did you become so greedy? Just consider it spending a little to avoid trouble!”

“No, I’m sticking to my principle. It’s not about the money, it’s about pride. People like them can’t be indulged!” Zhu Jie said indignantly. “Conmen like them deserve to suffer a little!”

“Who’s going to suffer, them or you? You almost got sold to the brothel!” Ji Yi said angrily. “Don’t take such risks again. If anything happens, I’ll handle it. From now on, leave it to me!”

Zhu Jie pouted. “Forget it! Your ‘easygoing’ attitude just lets people bully you! Besides, how do you know I was the one who got sold to the brothel and not that I sold them in?”

“You… sold them?” Ji Yi’s eyes widened, clearly disbelieving.

“I really did! Go ask around if you don’t believe me—they’re probably still locked up in the Yingchun House!” Zhu Jie said, standing up proudly, her chest puffed out with self-satisfaction. Humility wasn’t a word in her vocabulary.

Ji Yi, however, still looked worried. “Don’t think that a little cleverness lets you run wild. One day, you might run into someone truly formidable. Then you won’t even have time to cry!”

“Pfft! I’m always the one making others cry, never the other way around. Stop worrying for nothing!” Zhu Jie said boldly, without an ounce of fear.

Ji Yi stared at her, so frustrated that he couldn’t speak for a long moment. “Why can’t you consider other people’s feelings? Running off like that, did you think anyone at home would be able to eat or sleep?”

“You can’t eat or sleep at home?” Zhu Jie was taken aback. “I didn’t realize—you actually care about me!”

Seeing her still teasing, Ji Yi muttered under his breath, “Heartless.”

“Sir angry?” Outside, Manager Liao was peering in through the window when someone suddenly said this behind him. He was so startled that his legs nearly gave out.

He turned and saw Doctor Sun, who had arrived somehow without him noticing. Manager Liao quickly gestured for silence and pulled Doctor Sun away, running outside.

“Trying to scare someone to death, huh!” Liao said, scurrying into the room with Doctor Sun, then spat angrily.

Doctor Sun laughed. “Look at you, scared like that. If you were that afraid, why even go against him in the first place?”

“I wasn’t going against him; I was helping him keep things in check!” Manager Liao hurriedly defended himself.

Doctor Sun snorted. “Forget it! We’re here to serve him, not to police him, let alone control him. Better get that straight. Our master has always been ambitious—don’t risk your life over something so trivial.”

“Have you noticed? Seems like he’s really taken a liking to her. Didn’t you see how concerned he was? A little scratch and he’s all heartache. What’s so special about her? Does he really need to take it so seriously?” Manager Liao muttered indignantly.

Doctor Sun scoffed. “You just realized he’s serious about her? I don’t know what’s so special about that woman, but I do know she’s certainly stirring him up. Otherwise, would he worry himself sick, skipping meals, just because she went missing?”

Ji Yi was skipping meals over Zhu Jie? No wonder he was so angry—it was genuine concern!
