“Manager, something’s wrong—someone’s been taken to the Yingchun House!”

The urgent report came in a fluster. Manager Liao frowned immediately. Not possible… wasn’t that their own person?

Suddenly, there was a loud bang as the door behind him swung open. “Who’s been taken to the Yingchun House?!” A grim voice rang out unexpectedly.

Manager Liao’s heart skipped a beat, but he still tried to appear calm as he asked the servant, “I… who’s been taken to the Yingchun House?”

The servant was a little surprised that Manager Liao asked so directly, but he obediently replied, “It’s… it’s master’s wife!”

“What?!” Ji Yi’s heart tightened. He glared at Manager Liao with hatred. “I thought she wasn’t found yet!”

“She’s just been found, right?” Manager Liao’s nerves tightened. How did this master hear that so quickly? He quickly signaled to the servant.

The servant immediately continued, “Yes, she was just found, and then taken to the Yingchun House!”

“If anything happens to her, be ready to bring your head!” Ji Yi spat in anger, his voice deep and cold. “Go save her now!”

“Yes, sir!” Manager Liao dared not delay. He immediately rallied his men. Seeing Ji Yi’s anxious face, he realized this was serious—he really cared! No, they had to rescue her! Manager Liao couldn’t help feeling a bit afraid.

Zhu Shishi quickly smoothed things over: “Mother, let’s just accept our sister’s kindness! Father’s still eating there anyway. And why waste food if we don’t eat it!” Clearly, Zhu Shishi was hungry too!

Zhu Laotai fell silent. True—why waste food? Eat it, even if it’s just once. Fine, enjoy a good meal, a little reward for the past few hard days.

Seeing their agreement, Zhu Jie smiled and stepped out immediately. Outside, she saw two burly men standing straight at the doorway—clearly keeping watch.

Of course, a girl this bold needed to be watched.

Zhu Jie, however, pretended to be innocent and smiled politely. In a sweet voice, she asked, “Young sirs, where’s your kitchen? I want to bring some food for my mother and sister!”

“Miss, please wait here. I’ll have someone bring it to you!” The man smiled warmly, but his eyes showed clear vigilance.

“No need to trouble you, young sirs. I’ll just take a few simple things myself!” Zhu Jie insisted. “It’s also my filial duty, and I want to do it personally!”

“No problem, miss. We can bring it just the same! Here, no girl serves herself!” The man’s words sounded very polite.

But Zhu Jie’s expression suddenly darkened. “Are you afraid I’ll run away? My mother and sister are still in the room. How could I possibly leave alone? You’re overthinking!”

Seeing her obvious displeasure, the men felt uneasy. Yes, they were worried she might run, but now that she spoke so bluntly, it was awkward for everyone.

The two men exchanged glances, unsure how to respond. Meanwhile, Zhu Jie remained open and confident, not rushing at all, and even suggested: “I don’t know the way either. How about one of you accompany me?”

She voluntarily requested supervision! How straightforward, how honest! The two men finally relaxed. She’s just a little girl—her thighs aren’t even as thick as a man’s arms. What’s there to fear?

One of the men immediately volunteered: “I’ll lead you.”

Hearing this, Zhu Jie smiled in satisfaction. Yes, everything today was going exactly as she wanted!
