As soon as Zhu Jie finished speaking, Ji Yi immediately pulled out a piece of white cloth and said with a sorrowful expression, “I’m probably not long for this world. What should I do? What should I do?”
When Zhu Jie looked, sure enough—it was bright red blood! Why did he suddenly cough up blood? Her brows instantly knitted together. It seemed that those four hundred taels of silver were really quite tempting.
When it came to coughing up blood, Zhu Jie didn’t dare take it lightly. What if it was some kind of poison that killed upon seeing blood? If they delayed treatment and Ji Yi was actually poisoned to death, what then?
She grabbed his hand and began carefully checking his pulse. Before she could say anything, Ji Yi grew anxious first. “What are you doing? Aren’t you going to find a doctor for me?”
“I’ll take a look first,” Zhu Jie said calmly. But as she continued, her brows slowly tightened, and her gaze suddenly became as sharp as a blade as she looked at Ji Yi.
At this moment, Ji Yi asked guiltily, “You know how to check pulses?”
“I can treat illnesses too!” Zhu Jie replied angrily.
Just then, Huaihua’s voice suddenly sounded from behind them. “Really? What’s wrong with Brother Ji Yi?”
Huh? When did she follow them? So quickly? Zhu Jie glanced at her distractedly. At that moment, Ji Yi quickly pulled his hand back and said awkwardly, “You’d better just find me a doctor.”
“No need,” Zhu Jie said, trying hard to suppress her anger as she ordered in a deep voice, “Open your mouth!”
Open his mouth? What did that mean? Huaihua looked at the two of them in confusion. Meanwhile, Ji Yi’s face twitched slightly, and he forced an embarrassed smile. “No need, no need. I’m actually feeling much better.”
“Open your mouth!” Zhu Jie truly seemed angry now as she shouted the command.
Seeing that Ji Yi was about to turn and run, Zhu Jie suddenly leaped forward and tackled him onto the bed. Huaihua stared in shock—what was going on? Why did the atmosphere suddenly feel so strange?
Unfortunately, Zhu Jie wasn’t giving him any gentle caresses or passionate kisses. Instead, she directly grabbed his mouth and pried it open! Ji Yi’s mouth was pulled so wide that it looked like the corners might split.
“Ow, ow, ow!” Ji Yi finally couldn’t endure it anymore and cried out.
This time Zhu Jie saw clearly. She let out a long sigh, slowly climbed down from on top of him, and said irritably, “What were you doing just now? Tell the truth!”
Sigh… you really couldn’t mess with someone who knew medicine. Ji Yi sighed and could only confess honestly, “I just bit the inside of my cheek while eating.”
Yes, he had bitten his cheek—but he’d done it on purpose. If you were going to injure yourself, you naturally had to choose somewhere less serious.
But who would have thought he’d run into someone who knew medicine? This world was really hard to live in—he’d been exposed instantly!
Zhu Jie let out a long breath. Hearing his explanation, the worry that had been hanging in her heart finally eased, though she still snapped, “Serves you right for being greedy!” With that, she jumped off the bed angrily.
Huaihua, still worried, asked anxiously, “Sis, is Brother Ji Yi really okay?”
“Don’t worry. He’s sturdier than an ox!” Zhu Jie said with a smile.
Only then did Huaihua relax and laugh. But someone else clearly couldn’t laugh at all. Ji Yi said miserably, “How do you know how to do everything? Is there anything you can’t do?”
Hearing that, Zhu Jie tilted her head and thought seriously for a moment. “No choice. When I was little, I had to learn a lot just to survive.”
“How miserable must your childhood have been for you to master all these skills!” Ji Yi froze in surprise, eyes wide.
“With a bad background, you grow up living in deep suffering every day,” Zhu Jie sighed dramatically. “Actually, I know many things—so many that if I told you, you probably wouldn’t even understand!”
Ji Yi snorted. “Listen to you brag. Give you an inch and you take a mile!”
“If you don’t believe me, try it! I’m not afraid to tell you—I’m best at killing people! And I can kill without leaving a trace. So you’d better not provoke me!” Zhu Jie threatened bluntly.
But when Ji Yi heard this, he burst out laughing. Well… it really did sound like a joke.
