Across the vast land, at dawn a strand of warmth tore through the darkness, spreading the sun’s glow over everything. The crystalline snowflakes reflected rainbow-colored light, and the sky itself was tinged with red clouds.

It was said that early morning was when people slept the most deeply. Zhu Jie looked at Ji Yi, who had his back to her the entire time, pressed tightly against the wall, and couldn’t help but reveal a warm smile.

This guy was really interesting. He was always claiming he was a normal man. She covered her mouth and laughed softly. But he really was normal—he had already proven it with facts!

Twice already. Twice he had reacted like a normal man, yet he never touched her, only forcing himself to endure it alone. Her gaze toward him gradually softened. Zhu Jie unconsciously reached out and tucked the corner of the blanket around him before carefully climbing out of bed.

“Good man… I’m leaving now,” Zhu Jie murmured softly as she quietly walked out.

The courtyard was very quiet. After the long night, everyone must have been exhausted; sure enough, they were all sleeping soundly. But what exactly did he mean by that sentence? Had he already guessed she wanted to run away? Did he intend to let her go?

Zhu Jie decided to leave. She ran a few quick steps, using the faint morning sunlight as cover, leaped out of the small courtyard, and ran toward Mount Qi.

Sister-in-law You walked out while supporting her aching waist. After being busy the whole night, she still had to cook early in the morning. Unhappy, she pouted her lips. As she passed by the small courtyard, her gaze involuntarily stopped at Ji Yi’s door.

“After working all night, they must be tired, right?” Sister-in-law You’s eyes lit up as she sneakily looked around.

At this early hour, naturally no one was awake. In farm households people got up late, especially Ji Yi’s mother and the others—if the food wasn’t ready, they wouldn’t get up! Sister-in-law You immediately crept quietly toward Ji Yi’s room.

Sure enough, there was no movement inside. Sister-in-law You cautiously pushed the door. It let out an uncooperative creak. Frightened, she quickly withdrew her hand and stood stiffly at the doorway.

Her heart pounded like a drum. Like a thief, she pressed herself against the door and listened carefully. After listening for a while and hearing no one get up, her eyes widened again. Had they slept that deeply?

Sister-in-law You was so excited her grin stretched all the way to her ears. She gently pushed the door open wider and squeezed in, holding her breath and curling up her limbs.

As soon as she entered, she began looking around, especially at the floor.

Ah! These two were really proper—even their clothes weren’t thrown around randomly! Sister-in-law You thought disappointedly, so her gaze had no choice but to shift toward the bed.

The blanket was tightly wrapped, and she could only see a head facing away from her. It looked like Ji Yi. Huh? Had that girl burrowed into the blanket?

Sister-in-law You rubbed her hands vigorously, trying to warm them up before sticking them into the blanket and feeling around randomly.

“Ah! Sister-in-law, w-what are you doing?” With a sudden cry, Sister-in-law You’s cheerful expression instantly froze. She raised her head in shock and saw Ji Yi clutching the blanket’s edge, staring at her in horror.

“Ah—!”

“Ah!”

Two screams sounded almost at the same time. But after screaming, Sister-in-law You suddenly remembered why she came. She hurriedly reached out to cover Ji Yi’s mouth.

“Don’t shout! Erhan, don’t shout!”

But it was already too late. Several thudding footsteps sounded, and the door was suddenly shoved open as the entire family crowded in almost at the same time.

“What happened? What happened?” Old Master Ji looked in surprise at his second son and his eldest daughter-in-law. Somehow the scene felt strangely out of place.

“Dad, I don’t know what’s wrong with Sister-in-law. She suddenly stuck her hand into my blanket and started touching me!” Ji Yi shouted loudly like an innocent child who knew nothing about such matters.

At that moment, everyone finally understood where the strange feeling came from!

Yes! Why was the second son in the same bed as the eldest daughter-in-law?

Especially Elder Brother Ji. The moment he heard this, he exploded with rage. Raising the stick in his hand, he swung it fiercely.

“You shameless woman! What, was I not satisfying enough for you last night?!”

His voice boomed like a bull, and the stick in his hand came crashing down without mercy.

Just moments ago he had thought something had happened to his wife and had come with the stick to rescue her. Now, however, that very stick was being used to beat his own wife like bamboo shoots being stir-fried with meat.
