“Huier!” Madam Sun stepped softly into the room. Even though she was over forty, her every step still exuded charm. “You’re back?”

But the moment Miss Sun turned her head toward the voice, Madam Sun’s originally graceful step faltered. She tilted, and her legs went weak from shock.

“Y-you… who are you?” Madam Sun stammered as she spoke.

Then came a burst of crying: “Mother! I’m Huier! How could you not recognize me?” Miss Sun started sobbing.

Looking at that little piggy face, all scrunched up in tears, those big chubby cheeks! It looked just like a big salmon. Could this big salmon really be her Huier? Her Huier, so delicate and lovely?

“Impossible! There must be some mistake. My Huier was still so pretty this morning when she left! How could she…”

Hearing this, Miss Sun’s tears flowed even more uncontrollably. “Mother, I really am Huier! If you can’t recognize my face, can’t you at least recognize my voice?”

“Divine providence?” Madam Sun instantly lost her composure. “What nonsense divine providence could do this to my daughter’s face?”

Hearing this, Young Master Sun realized his mother was getting angry and quickly summarized how Miss Sun had gotten hit at the Wishing Tree, twisting her mouth and nose.

Madam Sun paused. Could this really be divine providence? Wait—just then, her eyes lit up, as if a realization had struck. Excitedly, she exclaimed, “You mean the Ji girl really went there today?”

Hearing this, Young Master Sun blushed even more and mumbled, “Y-yes… she did go!”

“What a clever girl!” Madam Sun sighed in admiration. Looking at her son blushing and heart racing, she thought to herself, this might be interesting! She narrowed her eyes and teasingly asked him, “How is this Ji girl?”

“She’s remarkable!” Young Master Sun replied quietly, lowering his gaze immediately. At nearly thirty, he still got shy.

Miss Sun, hearing their strange conversation, was baffled. “Mother, what are you talking about?”

Madam Sun, unable to contain her excitement, almost forgot her daughter’s comically swollen face. She turned her head with a secretive grin: “Huier, you met that Ji girl today, didn’t you? What did you think of her?”

“Think of her? She stepped on me several times today!” Miss Sun immediately bristled, rubbing her slender waist. “Mother, my waist is about to break!”

“She didn’t do it on purpose. Don’t be petty; holding grudges isn’t good!” Unexpectedly, Young Master Sun once again defended Zhu Jie.

Miss Sun immediately frowned. “Brother! How can you side with an outsider? I’m your sister!”

But Madam Sun interjected: “Not necessarily an outsider! Who knows, this Ji girl might even become your sister-in-law someday!”
