At dawn, just as the sky was beginning to lighten, Zhu Jie suddenly sat up with a jolt. Like a well-set alarm, though still rubbing her sleepy eyes, she struggled to stand.

What could be so important? This rural courtyard had no work to rush to, no boss checking attendance—why was she suddenly so energetic?
