Yuan Yuan, however, didn’t think so. Her upward-slanted eyes flashed a sly, scheming smile. “What, are you scared? It’s just running naked. Don’t worry—if you’re shy, you can have your servants drape a veil over you so no one sees your body.”
Really, I show you a little mercy, and you act like I’m a sick cat! Ling Ruoxi scratched her ear, squatted down, and patted the silver wolf’s neck. “Little White, do you have the confidence to make this Yuan Yuan run naked three laps?”
“Auoo!” As if understanding her, the silver wolf howled. Its black eyes sparkled with amusement, and it seemed to look at Yuan Yuan as though she were a complete fool.
“Hmph, who will win or lose isn’t certain yet. Ling Ruoxi, come here,” Yuan Yuan said coldly, stepping forward to lead the way.
The onlookers hurried after her, walking in her wake.
Luo Mingyu frowned slightly. “You’re really going?”
“Of course! I can’t let your mistress act so recklessly and bully the rightful wife. I’ll teach her a lesson! If you’re worried, there’s still time. Otherwise, when I break her hands and feet, and you come to intervene, I’ll cut you myself!” Ling Ruoxi glared at Luo Mingyu and turned to walk forward.
Luo Mingyu was exasperated, silently following. His worry wasn’t about the duel itself but about Yuan Yuan. As a socialite, the beasts she brought would naturally not be ordinary. He feared a trick.
Why did it happen that today, when they were walking Little White outside, they ran into her and she made such a challenge? Could it be… Lo Song’s doing?
The massive arena was already surrounded by protective arrays to prevent the duel from harming the surrounding civilians.
Yuan Yuan stood atop the platform in green attire, her tall figure fully displayed. She had the figure every woman desired, but her face carried a trace of hatred, making her slightly inferior in presence to Ling Ruoxi.
Opposite her, Ling Ruoxi looked less delicate but more heroic, her silver wolf beside her looking somewhat comical.
Yuan Yuan also had a silver wolf beside her, much larger than Ling Ruoxi’s, about the size of a Qingyi wolf. Its sharp claws scraped the wooden boards, leaving deep marks, saliva dripping from its mouth—vicious and disgusting.
This beast even diminished Yuan Yuan’s beauty, giving her a more ruthless aura, like a blood-stained medicine beauty, simultaneously feared and admired.
Opposite them, Ling Ruoxi could sense the silver wolf’s unique aura. A true silver wolf’s gaze resembled an Earth wolf’s, while Yuan Yuan’s wolf lacked this elegance, looking cruel, ready to flee from stronger beasts.
“Little White!” Ling Ruoxi crouched and patted her wolf’s neck. “Don’t let this fake fool underestimate us. Only this woman would think to replace a silver wolf. Be careful, I’ve got your back!”
The silver wolf nodded. Its black eyes flashed with mockery, like a king surveying its territory, stepping forward casually but keeping Ling Ruoxi protected behind it.
“Witnesses from the neighborhood, today Yuan Yuan and I, Ling Ruoxi, will have a duel. The loser must run naked around the capital three times! Feel free to watch!” Yuan Yuan smiled as she drew her sword. “Though I’m a socialite, I’m also an Orange-level Dou Qi master. I heard you have no Dou Qi. My apologies, but you may strike first.”
“No Dou Qi doesn’t mean I’m useless. You may strike first. A duel with you would be like bullying a mentally challenged child.” Ling Ruoxi smiled coldly, gesturing with her hand without even drawing her dagger.
The onlookers couldn’t help but snicker.
“Does Ling Ruoxi want to die? No Dou Qi, and she dares to challenge! Even with Young Master Qiongyu protecting her, she can’t be so reckless!”
“Yes, I’ve seen Yuan Yuan’s swordsmanship. Her Dou Qi is pure, and she has a beast. This…”
“If we watch her run naked, Young Master Qiongyu would gouge our eyes out!”
They didn’t know Ling Ruoxi’s true strength, nor that the man accompanying her was the so-called Young Master Qiongyu.
The naturally beautiful, gentle, elegant Qiongyu Young Master was every woman’s ideal. Luo Mingyu, being pulled and pinched by Ling Ruoxi, looked nothing like that.
“Hmph, you’re the fool! Today, you’ll learn the consequences of offending me!” Yuan Yuan said coldly. She swung her sword; orange Dou Qi flared, and her wolf crouched low, then dashed forward like lightning.
Using her beast directly? Ling Ruoxi frowned, thinking of Little White’s wounds, and stepped forward to block, ready to counter the force.
But she was fast, and her silver wolf was faster. It leapt and struck the other wolf with its sharp claws.
The two beasts collided first.
Ling Ruoxi’s face changed dramatically. If Little White’s wounds are touched! As she thought this, lightning-fast Dou Qi shot toward her. She darkened further, stepping back to dodge the strike.
The attacker smiled coldly, speeding up, orange Dou Qi illuminating the arena.
This wouldn’t do! Ling Ruoxi kept dodging but saw the beasts still fighting. Her right hand flicked, and eight silver needles appeared at her fingertips. The person standing across suddenly stepped back, hands crossing, then swiftly swung toward her.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!” Eight silver needles shot out. Though without Dou Qi, their sheer force made Yuan Yuan’s expression darken.
Every sword strike caused vibration; the silver needles shocked Yuan Yuan. Their precision aimed for her acupoints.
“Not bad. You can catch them.” Ling Ruoxi’s cold voice carried as she scattered the needles like a heavenly maiden scattering flowers.
The dense needles made Yuan Yuan leap backward, orange Dou Qi shielding her.
But she underestimated them. The needles, lightly blocked by her shield, shot forward faster than before.
“Ah!” A sharp scream rang out. The woman screamed, protecting herself.
Dozens of needles pierced her body, painfully tickling. But how could mere arm strength pierce her Dou Qi shield?
“Roar!” The silver wolf in front struck with a powerful paw aimed at the opposing wolf’s head.
The paw landed solidly, sending Yuan Yuan’s wolf flying ten meters, crashing into the protective array with a clang.
Silence. Everyone froze. They saw Ling Ruoxi break Yuan Yuan’s Dou Qi shield with silver needles, and even the weakest silver wolf had triumphed!
Could it be… today is…
A chill ran down everyone’s spine. They didn’t know what to say.
“You… you!” Yuan Yuan dropped her hands, staring at her sword. Her perfect face was now streaked with silver needle marks and blood. She looked like a mangled kitten.
Her beauty—her pride as a woman—was ruined. Yuan Yuan’s eyes widened with hatred, gripping her sword, and slashed at Ling Ruoxi.
She even forgot she was a Dou Qi master. Her simple Qi had vanished.
“Ignorance and impulse lead to failure and loss.” Ling Ruoxi sneered coldly. She let the frail figure stand firm on the platform, letting the sword swing toward her. That strange figure stepped diagonally, hands slow but suddenly fast, grabbing Yuan Yuan’s wrists and twisting.
Crack! The sound of bones breaking echoed, sending shivers through the crowd.
Thud! A kick hit Yuan Yuan’s knee. Ling Ruoxi coldly smiled and struck her with an elbow.
The once-arrogant woman now lay on the platform, panting, her right hand broken. She would never wield a weapon again.
She had been defeated by a woman without Dou Qi!
“Night Wolf!” Yuan Yuan screamed, crazed, grabbing her sword as it sliced her palm, thrusting toward Ling Ruoxi’s abdomen.
Ling Ruoxi snorted, stepping back to avoid the deadly strike. Cold wind surged, but she retreated just in time, colliding with the attack.
Black eyes narrowed. The night wolf leapt high, claws extended, yellow Dou Qi crackling, aimed at her head.
Concentrating intensely, Ling Ruoxi tensed, hands gripping, trying to evade.
But she was still retreating, trapped between sword and wolf—no escape!
Slash! The cold claw struck, blood spraying. Ling Ruoxi felt no pain, instinctively wrapping the silver-white wolf in her arms.
“Little White, Little White!” The wolf’s defense was weak, attack power low. This strike tore open its abdomen, exposing its innards!
